Dido says, "So much for cordial. Remind me to give him three extra punches to the nose."

Callie looks at the bodies and gets upset. "Not very funny, so-called protector. Anyone seen Mittens?" She looks at Pyrus. "Where is she, Pyrus?"

Dido says, "Guys, heads up. Got monsters beneath and above us."

At the moment, the most the sorcerer can do is inconvenience the... He forgets.  Two headed double jerk.  An arc of lightning sends it falling over, if only lightly singed.

That dealt with, he tosses a rope and graple out of the pit so people with poor upper body strength can get out... Oh that's just him then, well at least it's still easier for the rest now.

Re: Thunderspire Laberynth (part 2)

Kitau was already on edge from meeting Corvus and her friends so easily trusting the half-devil.  Then on top of that, shrugging off the untrustworthiness of the Tiefling image.  On top of that, being laughed at by the jerk.  And Mittens is missing.  AND landed in a pile of corpses.  AND Dido is attacked!  To say that Kitau is berserker raging furious screaming bloody murder is an understatement.

In a flurry of blades and gore, she carves up the carrion cralwer that attacked Dido, bringing it to within an inch of dead faster than it can shriek in pain!

"The Voices whisper of the cold between stars, between lives.  You smile, and the spell that surges
out against your enemy bites with teeth of glaciers down into boiling blood"

Corvus chants an ire sounding spell in Abyssal, and a large wave of magic slams against the beast. "You will fall before us foul creature."

And with that, the monster is dead!

The ettin roars!  It stands up and turns to face Terdisas.

"Gurrak no care about that one's head!  Make thing go away!"

With a swipe of it's massive cleaver, Terdisas is sent tumbling back against the wall of the pit.  Gurrak then turns his attention to Callie.

"This one's head is just what Gurrak missing!  Just what Gurrak need to complete collection!"

It takes a swing at Callie, but her armor protects her from any serious harm.

The group feels a little tougher and Gurrak feels disgusted by the love song.

Re: Thunderspire Laberynth (part 2)

Terdisas is highly tempted to attack the Ettin again, but there are much more practical targets to deal with at the moment.  He slams his staff downwards with a crack of thunder upon the remaining crawler, an arc of lightning firing through it into the creature as a stray spark floats upwards and leaves the Ettin with a total of three eyebrows.

"Tweet, traditionally thunder comes after lightning, boss.  The Sorcerer pretends not to hear that, and says "It would be wonderful if we could get a repeat performance, you two." to Kitau and Corvus.

OOC: Thunder slam to crawler, hits. 21 Thunder.
Action point; lightning arc to crawler, hits 20 Lightning (arcs 4 to gurrak)

Crawler: 70-21-20=29 (Bloodied)
Gurrack: 192-4= 188

Re: Thunderspire Laberynth (part 2)

The carrion crawler decides to attack the mage that hurt it so bad rather than answer the paladin's challenge.  Zap!  It gets punished with divine radiance for the choice.  And fails to poison Terdisas.

Kitau side-swipes at the crawler and it rears back to dodge!  The murder gnome then crouches down and leaps up, upper-cut hacking the crawler, gutting it from belly to neck!  Several pieces of the corpses the crawler ate earlier spill out before the monster collapses dead!

Kitau then rides her mount out of the pit using the rope Terdisas provided.

As Corvus slams his staff into the ground chanting a curse that causes the giant to roar in pain as his skin starts to boil black swirls appear around Gurrak and small shadowy figures dart out and start to burrow into the giants body burning flesh from bone as they do.

Corvus turns to Callie "Beautiful song my lady." and slightly bows to her.

Gurrak does not like Corvus.  It slashes him with his cleaver, shoving the mage back!  "It have bonus head for collection."

The second swing is thrown off by Dido's painful radiant sanction!

"Rargh!  Hey!  No getting out!"

They run around to block the rope Terdisas set up.

Re: Thunderspire Laberynth (part 2)

When the giant swung at Corvus, Dido points at Corvus with his hammer and a shield made out of light appeared, taking a chunk of the blow, making it so Corvus didn't get hurt much!

Dido pinches his nose to cause a nasally voice, "Hey!  No getting out!" he repeats of Gurrak. He climbs the rope anyway in order to swing his hammer at the giant's toes, but the giant's toenail proves sufficient armor to keep from being hurt.

Re: Thunderspire Laberynth (part 2)

Callie cringes a little from the flying bodyparts. Sure, the crawler parts was expected, but half-digested people parts was pushing the nausea button even for this battle-hardened adventurer.

And then Corvus takes the time, in the middle of a fight, to compliment Callie's singing and be a gentleman with a light bow.

Callie says in a voice sweet as sugar, "Thanks, Corvus!"

She holds her bastard sword above her head horizontally and radiance shines from her, coating all her allies with keener senses, making them see openings where they normally would not have!

Terdisas is so glad there are less things trying to eat him underfoot.  He fires a burst of thunder between the ettin's heads, which immobilizes it because... uh... Because shut up.

"Oh no, whatever shall we do." Terdisas deadpans  "Use more rope, Chirp, I'm helping!" Selectively ignoring sarcasm is fun!

The sorcerer walks over to the opposite end of the pit, and tosses up another rope and grapple.

Re: Thunderspire Laberynth (part 2)

Corvus takes a half step back and holds his staff in front of him releasing it it begins to levitate and spin rapidly like a clock hand. He holds both hands out to each side and dark shadows gather around him while the long dark symbols along his now revealed upper arms glow a sinister dark purple. He begins to chant in Abyssal " Hands vermilion, Lights divide, darkness thrive, Warlocks promise, shadows strive for the light, let now the void open and true Daemons Arise."  as he chants Corvus cuts the palm of his hand and crimson blood streams out to cover his hands.

Looking up he shouts "Move now!!" and lures the shadows into his hands with the blood forcing them into the staff which shoots them directly at Gurrak slamming into his body pulling and snatching at his very soul, and after passing through slams into his shadow forming a large shadow beast that seems to take all the heat out of the air around it. He can only hope his friends moved in time and pieces of their shadow did not get caught in the attack.

It swings at Dido, but the lucky halfling dodges the attack!

Re: Thunderspire Laberynth (part 2)

Dido discovers again that whacking at the ettin's toes is proving pointless. "..." At least his allies are hitting!

He sees shadows shift before him, glances to see the spinning staff, and wonders if this guy is already blowing his big guns, or if he can do this every fight. With the guy being new, it's hard to tell. Dido refuses to let it show he is lightly disturbed by the power since, up until now, only enemies used powers like that.

Re: Thunderspire Laberynth (part 2)

Callie looks a bit taken back by Corvus' power. Till now, the powers in this team have been elemental or divine in nature. No dark powers yet. She makes a mental note to ask about it AFTER combat, though.

Callie climbs out of the pit. "Thanks, Ter." she gives him a smile as she passes him and once out of the pit, she hurls a ball of white fire at Gurrak, burning a wound into him. The wound then shoots a beam of light at Corvus, empowering him. "You better worry about your own head, jerk!"

In a fit of madness and fear he tumbles back and falls his heart giving out from the fear. The shadow beast formed from his shadow fades with his death.

Corvus looks to everyone ".... I'm not that hard on the eyes am I?"

Callie says, "I doubt any of us are easy on the eyes right now. We just crawled out of a pit of corpses, crawlers and half-digested body parts."

Dido looks over towards Kitau. "Good job hacking through his annoying hide, Kitau."

Priorities, Callie STILL wants to ask about the shadows, but, "Where is Mittens?" her look of worry turns stern and she yells out in a loud voice, "Whoever you are, if you did anything to harm Mittens, I will visit it upon you ten-fold! Do you hear me?! She better be fine or you'll beg me to make your death swift!"

Dido says, "Keep your head, Callie. Not knowing is annoying, yes, but it also means she might be fine. All we can do is forge on ahead."
