Re: 01 Destined of Arvandor: Odd Kinship

Faerema says, "Got it!" and hops onto the arm before her, leaps to the ceiling and runs along it before leaping down to the eyeless head, punching it in the top of the head! She then lands on her feat next to it!

More tortured screams! The blood sprays become a shower, drenching the elves in blood!

Re: 01 Destined of Arvandor: Odd Kinship

Well, it's round three.  So that leaves one more non daily spell the Warlock has yet to use.  He places a curse upon the left arm, gestures with his rod, and narrowly avoids smacking himself in the face with it as the Dark bolt hurtles across the short distance and reduces the arm to bloody splinters.

"Well, that works." Lerkeeb may have been called 'gifted' in his schoolings, but it was more of a sarcastic backhanded compliment considering said gift was to the less than elegant and proper arts of ELDRITCH EXPLOSION.

Re: 01 Destined of Arvandor: Odd Kinship

The arm droops as it continues to spill blood. The other arm droops along with it. The eye seems to fade to grey and stop moving. The jaws breathe an almost human sigh of relief before the group hears whispered the word "freedom" from all around them.

Nothing happens for a bit.

Faerema says in a girly half-squeak, "What in the world was that?"

"Hmm.  Possibly a guardian of some sort.  Perhaps bound to this place to fend off invaders..."

Archer points at the dead kobold.

"Until the 'chosen' arrive to destroy the bound guardian and claim the 'gift,' thus releasing its spirit."

He searches the area starting with the hole the head came out of.

Re: 01 Destined of Arvandor: Odd Kinship

"Just what gift would that be in this case, beyond more blood than one would normally expect severed body parts to have."  On that note, Faerema seems awfully skittish for somebody stomping the jelly filling out of their enemies.

"Though I know not what that thing was, beyond some product of experiment.  Which is a sadly broad category."

Re: 01 Destined of Arvandor: Odd Kinship

Archer's search finds him a pair of grey boots. Upon closer inspection, they are magical in nature.

Meanwhile, June says, "...the sooner we're out of here, the better. But it makes sense to search every place in these caverns, just in case the key to our getting out of here is something we otherwise would have looked over."

Further searching of this chamber, however, yields nothing.

"Magic boots," Archer tells the group, checking inside them for scorpions or whatever.

He looks over his allies.  "Would be most useful to June, but sadly they won't work for her.  I'll claim them for now."

He begins to put them on.

Re: 01 Destined of Arvandor: Odd Kinship

Lerkeeb rolls his eyes, "I can tell what those are from here, Archer.  But I suppose is would only be gracious to let you experience what some Eladrin take for granted."  His attitude will probably change whenever the party learns there are five artifacts, and one of them is a bowstring.

Someone is going to end up ripped off if the elf keeps those boots the whole time.  It remains to be seen who.

June says, "Might I suggest you try out that power now, lest you wind up disoriented when you need to use it?" she takes that moment to then rest, glowing purple faintly as her wounds vanish.

Archer nods and teleports like a proper Eladrin.  He doesn't show any sign of being disoriented.

"Hmm.  I hope there's more of these boots in this place.  It would be nice if we each had a set."

"I am amazed we have found something so useful at all, assurances from visions aside.  Of more concern at the moment is how many more creatures like this will be in our way to the exit.  June may be holding up remarkably well, but for how long?"

More importantly, how long until Lerkeeb gets hurt!?  That would be terrible.

June gives a cute smile to Lerkeeb. "I should be OK..."

Faerema says, "I can scout for you now that I have you all to back me up should I get in trouble..."

Re: 01 Destined of Arvandor: Odd Kinship

Archer shrugs.  "I wasn't expecting the 'gifts' to be anything tangible.  Things like, 'learning to stick together as a team' was the kind of 'gift' I was expecting.  On that note, let's stick together when we can."

He heads to the northwest door to listen at it.

"Maybe our benefactor felt such a lesson was old and played out?  Many wanderers who claim to be loners still end up taking advantage of such things."

Just because Eladrin are totally the coolest variety of Elf does not mean they can't hang out with you.

Faerema gets a hopeful smile on her face as she follows the group.

When the group unlocks the northwest door, they see the tunnel leads upward towards light. Only a little exploration is needed to find it leads straight out into a forest!

Re: 01 Destined of Arvandor: Odd Kinship

"I'm skeptical this is really the way out.  Seems too easy.  But if it is, let's block the door with bodies and explore those other halls so we don't miss out on the other gifts."

If the others agree, Archer will begin putting his plan to work.

Re: 01 Destined of Arvandor: Odd Kinship

Ah, the age old plan of backtracking for loot.  Lerkeeb considers Archer's kobold sandbag plan, and after a moment says "The doors open outwards.  I suppose at the very least the pile of bodies might fall over on whoever opens them?"

Unless whoever tries to get in things they are push doors.

Re: 01 Destined of Arvandor: Odd Kinship

June takes point as the group tries going south again. "...all I see is more tunnel." she says. She moves forward only to see still more tunnel... and just in front of here is a very narrow way that requires squeezing through.

Faerema says, "I remember... this is where I came from."

Lerkeeb looks to the Drow (easy when she's right in front of him), "Then you probably know if it would be worth it to go back there or not, Faerema.  Unless you got particularly lost, I somehow doubt your answer will be yes."

Faerema says, "That way... just leads to the Underdark. Where I was trying to escape from."

When the group goes to the last tunnel remaining, they find another... cell? This one has a fancy desk and chair. On the desk are all kinds of papers.

Re: 01 Destined of Arvandor: Odd Kinship

"Right, not that way then."  Just because Lerkeeb incidentally knows Deep Speech does not mean he desires a chance for that to be a practical thing to know.  No, reading Faerema's diary is not practical, it's probably got spring loaded poison darts and the little hearts dotting the I's are probably explosive runes.

"Well, I suppose whoever ran this unpleasant hole had to keep his paperwork somewhere the help would not drool on it."  Oh great, Archer is getting smarter.  NOW who will walk into danger first for him?  Well, there is June we guess.

"I suppose you could shoot the desk to make sure it is not a roll top mimic."  Or worse, a Lordran Mimic.

June says, "Or I could just walk up to it." which she does. Faerema peaks around the corner curiously.

June says, "This is all written in draconic, from what I can tell. I don't know that language..."
