Scales of War: EPIC!

Raichel twirls her staff before smacking the wraith in the shoulder. Her staff lands with full force and the wraith realizes Raichel is somehow ignoring the fact he is ghostly. "Good to hear, Vlaakith. And we are here to both avenge you and make Zethy wish he had never been born. So please! Feel free to tell us what you can!"

Minor: Bloodfury weapon
Move: Shift to flank
Standard: Five Storms v Wraith 2. Hit(40)!
dmg: 28 (haha ignore insubstantial) RADIANT

"Excellent!" the spine answers, blasting May with a necrotic beam that would make her begin to disintegrate, but fortunately May resists the effect entirely.

"Impressive..."

The spine blasts her with another ray!  This one freezes May in place, and does a tiny amount of damage.

"Good!  Good!  This is very promising!"

The spine is so excited, its next attack misses!

"Unfortunately, I did not miss on purpose.  The enchantment on me requires me to do my utmost to defeat you.  But I see you have prepared yourself for necrotic attacks.  Wise choice!  Beyond you will find a lot of undead.  But you will also find an abundance of other kinds of enemies with a wide variety of attacks.  Fire being an obvious favorite of Vraxanault, but he also has a spectrum of others in keeping with the style of his chromatic mistress.  Be prepared for cold, poison, acid, thunder, lightning, and of course the expected psychic attacks from Zech'r'r's minions.  I'm pretty sure there's only two in here who use force attacks."

May BREAKS from the ice with seeming ease and says, "Thanks for the info! You'll be happy to hear we've long since dealt with psionic attacks, dealing with so many githyanki. Oh! And you'll like this!"

May does a summersault forward, sliding into place before letting out a roar that forces the spine and the wraiths to go to her! Vlaakith and the wraiths all feel May's weapon doing radiant damage to them, restricting them from regeneration.

Unfortunately, Kyle must have forgot to check his crossbow once too often because LOL 1.  At least no dice rolls needed to toughen up May.

OOC: I should finally take my turn, I wasn't expecting it to happen so soon after rolling a 1 for Initiative-*Rolls 1 for attack* welp.

Resistive for May, at least.

Till the end of Mit's next turn, if anyone hits an enemy, that enemy is dazed till the end of its turn.  Each one also grants +2 bonus to-hit for the first to try.

Timothius points to the eastern wraith and it feels something VERY annoying will happen if it attacks. "I think I'll take a better position..." Timothius says as he walks past the wraiths. The eastern wraith swings a sword towards him, but winds up shivering and cowering before Timothius, hugging itself and shriveling as if the fight was taken out of it. The other wraith is about to swing its sword at Tim also, but May whacks it hard and makes it cuckoo for cocoa-puffs. Timothius passes unharmed.

He bursts with holy energy, weakening the bunch further. He gives a polite bow to the spine. "Vlaakith; it is an honor to have met you in person, but I must tell you something wonderful: Tiamat's treachery has come back to bite her: Gith is alive and now leading your people. Zetch'r'r ends today."

What? They were not allowed to say anything to the githyanki who are on their side. Zetch'r'r already knows and this is the perfect thing to inform Vlaakith of.

Pacify v Wraith 2. Hit(41)!
If Wraith 2 hits or misses with an attack, he is stunned until end of its next turn.
Move: Timothius moves past Wraith 1 and 2.
Wraith 2 AoO. Miss(23) and stunned.

   dmg: 40 / 2 = 20
Minor: Solar Enemy
Wraiths are now all at vulnerable 30 radiant total.

May twirls around and smacks the beam aside with her tail. "As sure as can be. Besides... you know full well that Tiamat broke her end of the deal, which means the now-centuries-old Gith is released from her end of the deal."

WHACKWHACKWHACK! May finishes off the two wraiths and gives Vlaakith a rather sound whack to the spine!

S'ok... May can kick Murphy in the crotch. Observe:

Minor: Auto-save. Takes 10 dmg. This is now just flavor. Retroactively realized Tim's Aura of Peace means May didn't get hit by Vlaakith in the first place.

Vlaakith hisses from the overwhelming assault.  "Excellent.  I only wish I could be there to see  Zetch’r’r suffer by your hands.  And make him suffer by mine too, but that's not going to happen, unfortunately.  I'll just have to hear about it later when I regenerate."

Mits steps forward and sprays Vlaakith with sparkles!  They begin to blink faster and faster.

"Anything more you can tell us about what's beyond?"

"Yes.  Much more.  But at the rate your going, I won't be able to tell you it all before I'm destroyed."

Raichel raises her hand and then thrusts it downward, sending a lightning bolt on top of Vlaakith. KRACK-BOOM! "Me and mine have gotten to where pain is something we're used to, and I can only imagine how much more so you are, but... I still feel bad having to harm you when you aren't really my enemy. Still; tell us what you can." her voice genuinely trembles as she speaks, showing how upset it makes her to have to fight someone in this way.

Nevermind how extremely creepy this all is. Raichel wonders how her allies are holding themselves together so darn well.

The second of Vlaakith's gems begins to glow.  But the mini Mittens give her another blast of happiness and she disintegrates into dust with a ghostly shriek, leaving only the gem behind!  The cherubs wave goodbye and vanish.

Mits sighs in relief.  "Didn't wunna say it while she was being so useful, but... good riddance."

Soul Gems
The spine of Vlaakith’s six soul gems can each hold the soul
of one if its victims. At the beginning of an encounter, the
soul gems contain two souls. Crushing a gem after the spine
is defeated releases the soul back to the Shadowfell.

fATe of drAined SoulS
When a victim of the drain soul attack fails its second
saving throw, the victim’s soul is trapped in one of
Vlaakith’s spine gems. The soul’s former body crumbles into dust at the end of the creature’s next turn.
If the spine is destroyed, each creature trapped in a
gem is targeted by an attack: +25 vs. Will; the soul
is destroyed. On a miss, the soul remains intact but
is trapped in a gem. If a target’s soul remains intact
within a gem, then the gem glows with faint inner
light and reveals an image of a tiny figure inside. This
gem can be used as part of the Raise Dead ritual,
reducing the component cost by half. The Raise
Dead ritual can still bring back a target whose soul
is destroyed.

Stained-glass Windows: The stained glass windows are not made of glass at all. They are instead
congealed hatred. Any creature that starts its turn in
a square adjacent to the window makes a melee basic
attack or a charge attack against the closest creature
and treats allies as enemies for the purpose of opportunity attacks until the start of the creature’s next
turn. Each window has AC 5 Fortitude 10, Reflex 5;
hp 5. A destroyed window loses this effect.
Oops!  The GM forgot this.  <.<  >.>  Woulda been amusing to see Kyle and Mits whiffing melee basics against each other.  :P

OOC: That result is worse than most of the Soul Spike enemies.  Because standard soul spike type monsters, the body at least reappears at the end of the encounter if it hasn't been used as a snack. (Which is basically impossible unless the GM allows you to called shot remove stolen souls)"

Raichel hurumfs and folds her arms. "We don't know what Vlaakith is guilty of anything but using undead magics on herself. What we do know is she wasn't attacking our world. But with Gith back, I guess that doesn't even matter anyway because Vlaakith will most assuredly work *for* Gith. Also, I thought Vlaakith's phylactery was destroyed?"

Timothius says, "Whether it was or not doesn't really change our current mission. We focus on going forward and crushing Zetch. Rest up, everyone."

May nods and plops on her butt to rest up.

"I'm convinced that Vlaakith was/is evil to the max.  Kinda goes with the Lich-that-devours-souls package.  Be that as it may, Timo's point is a good one.  Focus on the ask at hand.

"This next room is so dang hot that it makes fighting in it difficult.  Perfect for the resident dragons.  But dragons don't have long range attacks.  So if we plink at them from a distance, they'll be forced to come out.  That way we don't have to swelter.  Alternatively, we could simply gulp down high-end fire resist potions.  Which come to think of it we should probably do anyway."

May pipes in, "Doing both sounds fine and all, but if we drink heat resist potions and then pull them out of the room, won't half the point of such a drink be gone?"

Raichel says, "What if we just put together some heat resistance items so it's more permanent?"

Timothius says, "Whatever we do, caution is more important than overthinking how wasteful we're being. The potions are a small price for stopping wars on our world."

May ohs and nods. "True enough. Guess I just wanted to be efficient." It's like picking a daily power and then only half the power is useful. Only worse, because at least the power recharges / can be retrained. Potions are gone forever once consumed and you never get that money back.
