This is the calendar commonly accepted in the region of the Grand Duchy and Bard's Gate.

The years are numbered, starting with the founding of the Grand Duchy.  The current year is GD:1960 or, more commonly, just 1960.

The Parts of the Year

Each year is 360 days long, divided into twelve months, each comprising five weeks of six days. Each month coincides with a cycle of the larger moon, Lune, while each week coincides with a cycle of the small moon, Selanil. Lune is full on the first day of each month, and dark on the sixteenth, while Selanil is full on the first day of each week, and dark on the fourth.

The Days of the Week

The days of the week are named for the condition of the moon Selanil on that day.  Selaniday is the first day of the week, and is generally a rest day.
