Before you continue, please read the
introduction to the game and the GM so that you can get a glimpse of the sort of game you're going to get into.
Here are some of the things I'm looking for in a player:
- A positive disposition. We should all have a 'gaming group' mentality, as if we were friends that get together periodically and game together. Your character may die or end up committed to a mental institution or in jail, but that shouldn't stop you from rolling up a new one and continuing to have fun. If you can't weather bad things happening to your character with a smile, this isn't the game for you.
- A cooperative mindset. This isn't a player versus player game, and while characters may have differences of opinion and different approaches to things, I would like the game to center on the main theme of investigating and unraveling the twisted mysteries and unimaginable cosmic horrors of the universe - and not on bickering.
- Commitment. This is a long game, and you need to be in it for the long haul. We all have ups and downs and busy periods and times we have to see first to higher priorities, but you should be willing and able to bounce back from that (beyond the exceptionally extreme situation, of course).
- Strong writing and roleplaying. This should go without saying, but you know how assumptions work. Text is our medium, and having a game with good writers really helps add to the immersion.
- Maturity. If something bothers you about the game or the other players or myself during the course of the game, you should be the type of player mature enough to address it with me directly so that we can find an equitable and expeditious resolution. Hopefully nothing like this comes up, but in case it does, let's all be mature about it.

Part A: About the Player
1. What is your experience with
Call of Cthulhu roleplaying or reading Lovecraftian Horror? There's no right answer to this, but I'd like to know. Experience or lack thereof will not necessarily count for or against you. (If you have any experience with this particular campaign, however, please let me know. I'd prefer players with no or limited exposure to it, but it is something we can talk through).
2. Give me some specific examples some of the longest running games you've played in or GM'd on RPOL. (The games referenced should still be able to be searched for and linked to. You can even provide the links as an answer.) If a player, which character(s) did you play in those games?
3. Please include a writing sample. You can include a link to a public thread from one of the aforementioned games, or just paste a text sample here.
4. What region and time zone are you in?
5. How often do you post? What times of the day?
Part B: Your Character
6. What would you like your character's name to be?
7. Give me a general idea about what type of character. We'll be doing full character generation and background creation once accepted into the game, but for now just a short paragraph describing your ideal character concept would be good.
Note: If accepted, we'll likely try to see how all the characters fit together before accepting the concepts, so this is just to get an idea.
