The Elias Home

Avery stoked the fire and it crackled, adding an additional warm glow to the already well lit sitting area of the Elias household, a bright room contrasted with the darkness without that could be seen through the windows. The days were getting longer, but it was still winter. The first to return that evening was Rosalie, joining Walter and Annabel back at the mansion. Abraham had dropped her off, promising to return later after a trip to his own domicile to retrieve some of his personal effects.

Rosalie tramped the snow off her boots as she entered the warmth of the house and removed her coat and gloves, leaving them hanging near the door to dry.  Though the train journey had been uneventful, she was weary from travel and very happy to be back in her uncle's home.  She unpinned her hat as she walked into the sitting room.  "Good evening.  Avery, I know it is late, but would you have tea brought up?  I am chilled to the bone."

"Of course, Miss," he said, quietly shuffling off to retrieve some hot tea.

He returned with a tray of tea to offer to all those who were present. As he poured tea for Rosalie just as she liked it, he asked, "How fared your inquiries today?"
