Their taxi pulled up in front of the imposing wrought iron gates on Great Russell Street, behind which the behemoth that is the British Museum crouched.
They went through the gate and across the Great Russell Street courtyard, then up the many marble steps into the columned portico. Passing into the entry hall, they are struck by the massiveness of the edifice and considered the myriad rooms and galleries that must be contained within.
Before them, there was an information desk in the entrance hall manned by a rather patient looking docent. Beside the desk there was a sign announcing a lecture by Professor Malcolm Armistead on Egyptian spirituality practices and tombs that started roughly an hour ago.
"Can I help you?" the docent asked as the group approached looking somewhat directionless.
