As the vehicle moved past, Leo leveled his shotgun and pulled the trigger, but the darkness, speed, and his own breathing made the shot go wide.

OOC: Unless it's close enough for a bonus, anyway. 40 vs. 30.
18:43, Today: Dr. Leonardo Elias rolled 40 using 1d100 with rolls of 40.  Shotgun (30).

Clear that they couldn't intercept the racing automobile, Price stopped and raising his pistol and taking quick aim Harry squeezed off two shots from his Mauser. The first was true the second was a flier.

"He won't be expecting that truck on the road or all the debris around it.Maybe we can catch him in our car!" Price said to the others.

Re: Chapter 2.6: Misr House I [02/01/1925]

Once again, the sounds of gunfire rang into the air, one window shattered, followed by the rear windshield of the vehicle as the car continued to speed off into the night, veering to the side to avoid the parked car that Leo had driven into the compound and speeding through the now open gates.

Re: Chapter 2.6: Misr House I [02/01/1925]

The sounds of gun fire peal into the night, along with the loud sound of a car engine going at full speed down the road, glass shattering into the night as the car raced out of the gates. Over this noise, and with all the chaos in the night, it was hard to make out much more than what was apparent.

But as she was running, somehow, turning her head, something in the direction of the house caught Rosalie's eye, and something of ill aspect that Leo heard drew his attention in the same direction.

Re: Chapter 2.6: Misr House I [02/01/1925]

Barrington shook his head at the request, taking a moment to stop and catch his breath as Price started to issue him orders. If he took any umbrage to it, though, he didn't say anything of it.

"A Hispano-Suiza? We're never going to catch up in that thing," he said, gesturing offhandedly to the vehicle the group had parked on the roadside.

"Besides, we can't say with any certainty who was in that car. Best, I think to refocus our efforts-" he paused at Rosalie's exclamation.

Anyone that looked in that direction, as Barrington did, would see a man apparently mounting some kind of tremendous winged beast, a creature that looked as none of them had ever seen.

"Cor blimey! What in the blazes is that? Is that - is someone getting on that thing?" His face took on a bit of an ashen hue, and his constables seemed similarly affected, but they all held their ground, silently swearing at the sight.

Leo nodded at the question. "Yes, probably Gavigan. Anyone think they can take him down?" Leo looked down at his shotgun, which he duly reloaded after discharging it in the general direction of the fleeing vehicle. However, he didn't think his weapon would have the range necessary to do anything to the mounted rider.

"Too far away, but worth a shot," Constable Reginald Hawkins said, pulling up his pistol, drawing a bead, and squeezing off a shot. There did not appear to be a hit, but the creature flew down after a moment, behind the building and out of their line of sight.

"Fothergill, Crutchley, and Cammish, I want the three of you to sweep the island and then rendezvous with the rest of us at the manor. Hawkins, McCutcheon, Trickelbank, and Pinfield, you four with me," he said.

Once the first three men fanned out, Barrington gestured at the rest and Hawkins and the other three deputies moved towards the building. Barrington looked at Leo, Rosalie, and Harry. He seemed to be weighing and measuring his words, saying them carefully and maintaining eye contact.

"Dr. Elias, Miss Elias, and Mr. Price, I will need you to come into the house with us. After we've swept the residence, we can provide you with an escort to your vehicle. I lack the manpower to see that you remain in any one place, but be mindful that anything that my men and I find will be taken into evidence."

Leo nodded. "Of course, that would only be in keeping with what the law would require. We will be glad to join you in the manor."

Leo again looked at the imposing edifice, then glanced toward Rosalie and Harry to see if they had anything to add.

Re: Chapter 2.6: Misr House I [02/01/1925]

The constables so assigned jogged up ahead and entered the front door of the Misr House. As Barrington followed up with them not far behind, they entered the edifice to find a well appointed Great Hall that seemed decorated with items that spoke of Egypt.'

The hall was large, with a fireplace to the far right side of the room. At the back left, there was an opening to another room, which the group of constables filed into immediately after securing this room. Barrington escorted the group of Gavigan's former prisoners into the manor with them, and saw that they were seated in the Great Hall.

"Call out if you need anything," Barrington said to them, before following his constables and leaving them to their own devices.

Price took Barrington's meaning, "Yes, thank you, Inspector."

Holstering his weapon Harry followed Barrington and the others as they made their way to the door, offering what assistance he could to the former hostages. As he moved along his eyes surveyed the area hoping to spot any unseen creatures or cultist before they attacked. But the truth was his head was still swimming a bit as his mind tried to cope with what he had seen.

Re: Chapter 2.6: Misr House I [02/01/1925]

The house was notably warmer than the outside. The remnants of a still-burning but dwindling fire in the fireplace at the far right side of the hall added a bit of extra warmth, and the seating nearby provided quite suitable for the four former prisoners and more. Harry was able to fan the flames back to life, feeding another small log into the fire while Leo made cursory assessments of the health of the prisoners, with particular concern to Tommy.

Leo nodded and gave an appreciative wave of his hand to Barrington.

Upon entering, Leo first scanned the area, then did a more thorough check on the health of the former prisoners. "The warmth should be good for everyone."

He couldn't concentrate on anything else while considering the medical implications of the cold and captivity.

After a glance about, Rosalie moved to the fireplace to warm up, rubbing her arms with gloved hands.  As one of the naked prisoners had her coat, she was now feeling the chill.  Her eyes drifted to the fireplace itself, and she tilted her head as she caught sight of something strange.  Reaching for an oddly placed brick, she gave it an experimental tug to see if it would come lose.

Re: Chapter 2.6: Misr House I [02/01/1925]

As Rosalie tugged at the brick, she found that it didn't come loose, per se, but that it moved. Giving it a little more pressure, she slid it along the wall, watching it rotate. A grinding noise followed, and the left portion of the fireplace slid aside, revealing a set of narrow stairs leading downward.
