Yep, V&V New Dawn has the same deal.  In fact this character (Shimakaze) is from that game.  :(

Agreed.  Up till the time s/he had to pull the pin, Naptown was a nice, flowing game.

The Watcher:
Doh!  My Naptown Knights game got marked for deletion!

Gonna put the character up here!

If you haven't actually deleted the game from your list, you should still be able to access all the relevant info.

Re: OOOC Off Topic

If you have access to your fellow players characters and want to add them here so they made recovered by them at a later date I can provide a thread for that as well.

Hopefully that way we can avoid them returning to find the game and their character gone.

Too bad to see those games go down for good. I hope Bones is OK.

In reply to Tesla (msg #15):

I had already removed the deleted game from my list, so I can't seem to get back into it.

If anyone else is still in that game, and can access Carapace's character description, I would be indebted.

If not...cest la vie...

Re: OOOC Off Topic

After cutting/pasting a bunch of chargen thread posts link to a message in another game together, found the "meet the characters" threadlink to a message in another game
(w/Carapace's full character sheet at bottom):

Carapace (born Calvin Pace) stands approximately 6'2", and is built like a linebacker.  He is always conscious about where he is stepping, as it is not unusual for him to crash through some poorly constructed floor, or a deck built of unknowingly rotted timbers.  Puerto Rican by birth- but raised in California- his olive complexion is more olive than usual.  Upon closer inspection, you can see slight creases along the seams of his facial features, that almost resemble plates of armor, or the shell of some bug.

You would then notice that no other skin on his body was showing, even on a hot summer day, and you might begin to wonder...

Carapace is always clothed, with only his head and full, dark mane of hair not covered (and even that is in a cap more often than not).  He favors a black, long sleeve, cotton shirt, jeans, boots, gloves, and a Brown leather jacket.  If there is some group costume he will wear it, however begrudgingly.

When it is known that there is going to be trouble, Carapace carries a huge club.

His friends call him "Pace."

Origin Story:  Carapace

Calvin Pace was an assistant marine biologist aiding in the study of the adaptive and curious tendencies of a giant isopod colony, located in a deep abyss of the shore of the Pacific ocean.  In addition to their Chitinous armored exterior and incredible speed- even in the dense ocean- group members at times seemed to go into periods of low energy output which would couple with seemingly impossible associated movements of independent objects at a distance.  Simple things like, rock movement to cover a hole that could potentially allow a predator access to an area.  But were these "occurrences" simply coincidence, or were they scientific evidence of animal telekinesis?

Calvin's Professor- Dr. Kate Dillon- needed to know.

She began studying the creatures religiously, with Calvin never too far away.  Never actually killing any of the animals, she would often collect specimens, run tests on them, and then release them back into the abyss.  It seemed the only place on earth that housed the unique creatures, singular among their species.

Dr. Dillon was able to isolate a unique gland in the brain stem of the isopods that she thought might be the key to the creatures unique abilities.  By harmlessly extracting small amounts of the gland's contents over an extended period of time, Kate was able to synthesize a compound that she postulated could potentially work on humans.

One night, while both Calvin and Kate were working on her boat, a freak storm took the research vessel, tossing it about like a child in a bathtub.

Calvin- an all Pac Ten football player in college- was attempting to secure the compound in accordance to Dr. Dillon's instructions, when a huge wave heaved the boat onto it's side.  Calvin was thrown against a wall that had become the floor...and the compound was thrown against the wall as well, shattering and dousing Calvin in hundreds of doses that mixed with the salt water now rushing into the boat.  The strong elixir, mixed with the salt water, burned away Calvin's taste buds, and he frantically tried to escape the interior of the vessel, his skin, mouth, and inner body aflame with pain.  As he struggled to open a hatch as water began to engulf the capsizing vessel, he noticed Dr. Dillon's dead body float past, neck broken from the impact of the fall, her physical form grotesquely altered.

She had grown a layer of chitinous armor all over her body...and with horror, Calvin realized he had done the same.  The compound apparently had a terrible, unforeseen side effect.

But as the water level rose within the cabin, and he realized the door was barred from the outside, the images of the isopods moving the rocks came to mind...and Calvin instinctively moved the obstruction with his mind.

With no time to think, he stretched his mind out again and seized an inflatable lifeboat- located across the room- which he snapped into his hands, wrapping the cords around his forearms.  He then took a deep breath, opened the door, and as the water rushed in, he thrust the lifeboat through the door and inflated it.

The lifeboat rose to the raging waters above.

Somehow, Calvin managed to climb inside the lifeboat without capsizing it, and he noticed how much his body mass had increased as the boat sagged significantly in the middle where he stayed, and threatened to capsize wildly whenever he moved to one of the edges.

He was found the next day, afloat at sea and unrecognizable.

As the days passed, he began to look more and more normal once more.  His natural Puerto Rican tanned skin tone deepened into a more greenish olive, but it wasn't too dramatic.  The chitinous armor, at one point threatening to completely engulf any trace of human recognition, began to recede into Calvin's natural features, though the plates were still visible under scrutiny.  His hair- which had fallen out- began to grow back through the plates, eventually appearing completely normal.  The Armor, at first large, chunky scales, began to form to his musculature, thankfully returning his humanity as well.  Still, the new armor impeded Calvin's naturally lightning-quick reflexes, and the stuff was heavy; Calvin now tipped the scales at 500 plus pounds.

As Calvin recovered, he found his new telekinetic powers relatively weak, but still useful.  He sometimes pretended he was "using the force," which- in a sense- he was.

Another unforeseen side effect of the serum Calvin had been exposed to was that he could now run incredibly fast- despite his incredible weight, he was now running almost three times as fast as before, while weighing almost three times as much.

Once released from the military compound that held him for testing, and registering with them, Calvin left determined to try to turn Dr. Dillon's sacrifice into something meaningful.  He couldn't bring her back, but perhaps he could honor her memory.

Re: Game in the works...

So here is a link to the game I am working on: link to another game

I have not formally opened it for RTJs but I will be looking for about 6 players for the game once I do. Everything is still pretty raw and I need to put together a more cohesive description and structure but people can feel free to comment on what they think of the rough concept.

I have borrowed some stuff regarding mechanics and chargen from other GMs/games.

It is going to be a somewhat slower game, looking at a roughly twice weekly posting rate on average.

I too would like to supplicate myself to contribute to your idea.

I am returning to RPoL after a short period of low attendance, and this looks like a cool idea.  Cold War, eh.  Fun.
And I look forward to playing with 'Pace again. He's always good value.

Do we RTJ, so you can logs us?

Re: Game in the works...

OK even though I am not ready to start the game for ease of process I have added Carapace, Marviel, and Element Zero as Supplicants to begin discussion and chargen. (Marviel has already been working on stuff in private, which I will probably look to post in my Character Generation thread)

There are still 3 slots open for Supplicants... :)
