Eridani Auctions

What good is money without spending it.  I'm going to have character auctions from time to time.

Since this is the start of the game, and you people have so much money in your pocket i'm going to have (4) Auctions during character generation.

Everyone starts with 3,500,000 C Bills so everyone is on even footing.

AUCTION ONE

First item up for bid is going to chew up alot of money...

The game is going to be renamed from Pegasus 411 to Raven 411.  The Mech that this campaign is going to be run off of, is the first mech up on the auction.

Raw stats for this mech are...

3.5t Internal
7.0t Engine
2.0t heat sink (CT/(2)RL/(2) LL)
2.0t Gyro
3.0t Cockpit
4.0t Armor
2.0t RA Medium Laser
3.0t RT SRM 6
1.0t LT Ammo (15)
7.5t LT EW Equipment

Armor...
H 9 ~ CT 13/4 ~ R-LT 10/3 ~ R-LA 6 ~ R-LL 8

Rules for the EW equipment are found at this link...
http://www.sarna.net/wiki/ECM_3025

Summerized here for you convience...

Game Rules
According to the (apocryphal) German rules, the ECM 3025 weights 7.5 tons and costs approximately 120,000 C-bills. It can theoretically be installed on any 'Mech, although the only 'Mech that was ever designed to carry the equipment was the early Raven. Summarily, it could be described as a combination of a prototype ECM Suite and a prototype Active Probe.

In game terms, the ECM 3025 occupies 4 critical hit slots. Units equipped in this way have the following advantages/abilities:

Detect hidden enemy units (but not infantry) if passing by them at a distance of less than 4 hexes (16 under Solaris VII rules) or ending movement within that range (similar to a Beagle Active Probe).

When hitting an enemy with a missile volley, add +1 to the roll that determines how many missiles hit the target.

Can call indirect LRM fire without the usual +1 to-hit modifier applying to friendly units.
When used as forward artillery spotter, a -2 to-hit modifier applies to indirect artillery fire.

According to descriptions the ECM 3025 also has some jamming and ECM capabilities, but no game rules are given.

The original RVN-1X Raven specified the ECM 3025 to be mounted in the Center Torso section. Since this section only provides 2 critical hit slots (while 4 are required for the equipment), it is apparently possible to split the slots for ECM 3025 over two adjacent locations.

For comparison, EW Equipment weighs 7.5 tons and takes up 4 critical spaces. It functions as an active probe and an ECM suite within a radius of three hexes. [1] The combined mass and bulk of the system make it strictly inferior to mounting both a Beagle and Guardian system instead, but the latter systems are of a higher technology level.

Book value of the mech is 2,926,575 C-Bills

The minimum bid for this mech is 3,000,000 C-Bills

Bidding intervals of 10,000 C-Bills

AUCTION TWO

Who says you can't buy talent?

All characters start off with a base Pilot roll of 5+.  Except for the winner of this auction.  The winner of this auction will start with a pilot roll of 4+

The minimum bid for this auction is 200,000 C-Bills

Bidding intervals of 10,000 C-Bills

AUCTION THREE

Who says you can't buy talent?

All characters start off with a base Technician roll of 7+.  Technician rolls
are used for anything 'technical' in nature.  Some uses for Technician include...

Assisting with minor repairs between scenarios...
Coordinating Artillary fire...
Raven's EW...

Minimum bid for this auction is 100,000 C-Bills
Bidding intervals of 5,000 C-Bills

Presuming you want both heat sinks, you may bid twice on this auction.

AUCTION FOUR

Last Auction.  Player Ranks.

Players all start the game as 'Mechwarriors'.  They may bid for Ranks.  Top bid may pick between the ranks of 2nd Lt. or Sgt.  Second place bid gets the rank of Corporal.

Top Bid
2nd Lt.s gain have two +0 -> +1 (Non-Laser) perk/skill.
Sgts gain +0 Laser -> +1 Laser.

2nd highest bid.
Corporals gain a single +1 perk/skill

Minimum bid for this auction is 100,000 C-Bills
Bidding intervals of 5,000 C-Bills

Presuming you want both heat sinks, you may bid twice on this auction.

AUCTION FIFTH (and sixth)

Mechs live and die on heat sinks.

Last items up for bid are (2) double strength heat sinks.  Top two bids will have a heat sink on their mech replaced with an experimental Hoff heat sink.

There is no weight differential... there is no critical differential.  It's an extra heat sink.  It should be noted that this heat sink is noted on your mech.  Should it be destroyed during combat the heat sink is gone.  If you put it in your 'Engine' it will be destroyed on the first engine hit.

Minimum bid for this auction is 50,000 C-Bills
Bidding intervals of 5,000 C-Bills

Presuming you want both heat sinks, you may bid twice on this auction.

The unit will have an NPC commanding officer.  What you guys dont buy (put in a minimum bid for), the NPC will end up with.

Re: Eridani Auctions

1st Lt. Nate Armstrong

Bid 200,000 cb - Auction Two

Bid 50,000 cb - Auction Five

Bid 50,000 cb - Auction Six

Liason Officer Pegan

Bid 3,000,000 cb - Auction One

Bid 100,000 cb - Auction Three

No Bid - Auction Four

NPC's bids are 'open' and will not go above the minimal bids of the auction.  They will have a strike mark through them, if a player makes a minimum bid.  Once i have three players bidding, i will note the winning bids will be noted on the players messages.

Your bids should be 'secret'.  The only one of your bids that needs to be open, is the one for the first auction.

Post Mission Two Auction

Players may do one of three things...

1)  You may sell up to ten experience points.  (1 expereince will gain you 15,000 C-Bills)

2)  You may buy up to ten experience points.  (1 experience will cost you 20,000 C-Bills)

3)  You may do nothing, if youre happy with the balance of experience and liquid cash your character is currently enjoying.

You have untill 10/21 to participate and state what you would like to do.  Default options for players that do not drop a note here is option '3'.

Post Mission Two Auction

Hm... No one seems to like the Cash/Experience exchange offer, so scratch that, and a new one is being offered.

Storage at the base is cramped and space is prescious.  While cleaning up the storage area the Eridani Technicians have found an drum of paint addressed to the Eridani's.  It's from the R&D think tank, and is addressed to Pegan.

It's spiffy metallic silver, perfect for decaling or to make your mech really bright and noticable out in daylight conditions.  In Pegan's absence, no one knows if it does anything special.  Nate had ordered the junk thrown out.  No one was going to want there mechs painted shiney silver.

Scooter the Eridani's head technician lets nothing go to waste.  He's hanging on to the paint and will sell it to the highest bidder and ever throw in the labor to paint your mech for you.

The retail cost for Camo-paint is free, covered by your repair pool.  Scooter seems to think 'this' paint might be worth more, since it came from the think tank and is addressed to Pegan.  Examination of the paint reveals that it has the metallic look and feel of mercury, though some trial test by Scooter reveals that it will dry like paint.

Starting bid for a spiffy paint job is 1,000 C-Bills for a six Gallon drum of Silver paint (Enough to cover 6 tons worth of armor).

This will be a single bid, winner take all auction.

Winner ~ Crispin with a Bid of 16,000 C-Bills

In reply to MW Camille Sforza (msg #20):

It's 10/21.  The auction was to end today and no one made any notations of exchange.  as noted, the default is, do nothing, so officially no one made exchanges.  i might bring that auction back again eventually.  Till then you can fight over a can of silver paint.

Re: Post Mission Two Auction

I noted, that the cost of the equipment from the armory was going to be covered by the repair pool and there would be no cost.

If its really a big deal to you tell me how much of an exchange you'd like to make.  it's 10/21 all day so i can bend the rules if you want to make an exchange.
