Re: Out of character - Not Game Related

Still psyched about the rifle. I was sooo disappointed in it, it was all over the place- then I discovered the scope was loose, I had to start all over sighting it in, but now I can hit with it! :D

It's funny how different guns like to eat different ammo. Everyone swears by 150 grain .30-'06 bullets, but this one- it wants 168 grain. 165 are decent, and the Winchester is a little better than the Remington as far factory ammo- but man, those Hornady A-max bullets! He told me his secret, too, he seats the bullets about as far out as possible, so far it's even a bit tough closing the action. You actually start the bullet in the rifling like that, and there's no jump from casing to barrel, and it makes a huge difference. Of course, hey're so long you can't acually fit them in the magazine, and you have to use the rifle as a single-shot then... but small problem, especially since lots of ranges are single-load only, anyhow.

OK, am I done boring you with gun talk? Let me know if you want more, I'll try and keep it down low. ;)

Re: Out of character - Not Game Related

I know very little about guns.  Never fired one.  I know a few friends who like to shoot at the range, a pity they're not around i'm sure they'd be able to chit chat with you on the topic in a swimming manner.

Me.  I'm on the shallow end of the knowledge pool on the topic i'm afraid.

Aren't guns the first point and click interfaces?

I only ever fired a revolver and everyone at the range thought it was funny to let me do that one handed. My wrist didn't like that the 'expert' gunmen did.

Re: Out of character - Not Game Related

Yeah, if you come out near Michigan, let me know, snowy. We'll get you shooting all sorts of things. ;) Plan on making a day of it. :) Where's your sister live, anyhow?

Greg- Sounds like they gave you a large caliber revolver, and tried to make you the butt of a joke. That's not right because a) it's a dangerous thing and you just don't mess around, and b) you can really hurt your muscles / tendons and stuff, if it was just a bruise or something that'd be different, but if you went to the doctor for a torn ligament how'd they feel? Those 'experts' are idiots, pardon me if they're your friends, but they should know better. You just don't mess around.

In fact, if anyone wants to go shooting in Michigan, let me know. We'll work something out. I do a lot of shooting in the backyard, and I live right down the road from the Sportsman's Club range. I go there for the high power rifle, I don't like the idea of the bullets wizzing off for a couple of miles if I miss in the backyard. Shotguns, pistols, and the .22 I do all in the backyard, although I'm going to be setting up a log with a flat top for cans and such down at the range, I don't like shooting cans with the .22 because I don't have a good backstop. And .22 is the cheapest and easiest thing to shoot, too, so it's kind of the one you want to have fun and shoot up the cans and stuff.

Ah, right. I of course just asked you one. Silly me.

Anyhow, how's it going? Having fun, decent trip so far, no construction on the way? (And if you say yes, I can narrow down at least one state you never drove through. :P )

Tell sis I said Hi. ;)

Tried to get to character sheets (really did), but Hubbie was home today and that kept me a little busy.  Did net us a fourth player, yea for that.

Will give character sheets a harder look tomorrow.

Hmm... Too bad that doesn't work for hiding things at my house, my wife and 14 year old daughter are both 5'10", and the 12 year old isn't far behind. I'm 6'3", but that's just not enough to hide stuff from them. (Then again, 10'3" might not be enough...)  ;)

I've got an inch on Caitlin it seems, but her husband has like four inches on mine, so i know the feeling.

Shopping is always fun, he's easy to spot, but he says i'm like a submarine and always a challenge to keep up with since i vanish behind racks of clothing or shelves of goods.

At 6'4" I use the upper shelves for my stuff and my wife uses the lower shelves for her stuff ;)

Mine hides the cookies high. I'm diabetic so it's with good reason...but sometimes you just NEED cookies and its frustrating to have to climb onto the counter to get them.

Clothes shopping is next to impossible when you're our height. I think they think petite women are 6 inches taller than me.

Luckily the one this I need to hide from her I make sure just isn't in the apartment at all  which is nuts/tree nuts that she is deadly allergic to, carrying aroudn an adreniline pen and all should she go into anaphylactic shock from a reaction to them.

And while not imposible to find clothing it is quite a pain for us tall peeps too...

Tell him it's not a height thing. It's a woman thing,my wife does that, too. ;)
Caitlin Mallory:

Definitely. I'm just waiting for the whole cholesterol / high blood pressure thing to ruin my food enjoyment.
And I never understood how women's clothes can have a size in one direction. If you're really tall, you need to wear fat people clothes, and if you're really short, you need to wear stick people clothes. If you're fat, you need to wear tll clothes, and so on... I mean, it just makes no sense whatsoever, and that's not even mentioning how none of it matches sizes from one brand or type to another. Calvin Klein jeans don't have the same sizes as Levi's, and even Calvin Klein shirts are probably different from their own jeans!
Gregory Asgard:

Maybe for Caitlin or Pegasus, I'd agree. You probably don't want to see my white, pasty belly sticking out, though...  :P

Yeah prolly don't want to see that white, pasty belly Tony so we'll leave that to the others maybe.

While my wife can disappear behind things I know her proclivities so it's easy to track her down when I've got a view over just about anything.

Hm.  Tony's been offline for less than 36 hours, feels longer the way you guys pace though.  Will let pass till tommorow.

General rule of the thumb, if you've been missing for longer than 24 hours game master reserves the right to move the game along with out you and will assign your character to a player, or just NPC them.

It's all good. Got busy at work and home, I'd expect an NPC session whenever deemed needed. I've played with Pegasus long enough I think she knows she can do that and I won't get mad, but I will say- she probably won't kill your character if she does. Some GMs are just mean when they have to take the reins, she does sensible stuff even if it might not be your first choice. (See- I do nonsensical stuff as a rule, so it's never my first choice. :P )

Re: Out of character - Not Game Related

I think the 24 hour rule is a good one. To many games die cause you end up waiting for others. On that note id like to add a breathing pause in case someone in a scene is not posting 20 times a day is nice to so they dont feel left out.

The whole scene with Baily for example had been revolved without me even getting a post in. Now i don't mind it on occasion but if thats the general rule that would suck.
