Re: Out of character - Not Game Related

Got some cool new stuff. Which means I need to clean the basement out to make room. Whereupon I found the boiler leak. So after I fix the boiler, I might as well prep it for winter and do the spring stuff I didn't get to yet. Then I can clean. Then set up my neat new gear. Then learn how to use it so I don't blow myself up. Then I'll have time to use it as an occasional hobby. ;)

And busy as always at work. Should be out on a job now, in fact... :P

Re: Out of character - Not Game Related

Gregory Asgard:
The whole scene with Baily for example had been revolved without me even getting a post in. Now i don't mind it on occasion but if thats the general rule that would suck.

I'll try to make sure others get to post, too. Sorry. I was on vacation, and had tons of time, now I'm busy and have just a little. Kind of a roller coaster for me, I guess.

On another topic, I finally got everything fixed / cleaned out enough to set up my reloading stuff. Made a box of hunting rounds for the rifle, and got 1 1/2" groups at 100 yards. I'm pretty happy with that. I can get a little smaller, probably, but about halfway through I got impatient building them, and took some shortcuts. I knew how much time I had, and to get out to the range today, I had to hurry it along. The first set I took more time on worked better, so presumably if I take the time, they'll all work that well. I have some match-grade bullets to load, too, but they're not recommended for hunting medium game, like deer. They tend to disintigrate and not penetrate enough. So I'm thinking of seeing how accurate I can get the hunting compared to the match grade, but there's not too much of a difference, honestly. They're both scary accurate when I take the time. I can hit something the size of a mouse at the length of a football field every time. ::Happy Dance::

Re: Out of character - Not Game Related

its funny. To become a citizen in the netherlands new citizens are supposed to know the anthem.

80% of the dutch people don't know it themselves.

It's the end to a very long road started in 2000

I'm kinda hoping I get to do the oath on the same day.
My interview instructions did say dress formally.

Omigosh, why would you want to be an American?

I'm pretty sure everyone in the world hates us.

Re: Out of character - Not Game Related

For many many reasons.

Suffice it to say, I would rather be part of a polity where some rights are guaranteed and extended to cover me. Also, it's easier to get a job as a citizen (I'm employed as an agency worker now, but full time permanent employment has evaded me since my arrival in the US), plus I would no longer be in a obligation to my parents in law as they acted as my guarantors when I came over.

All in all, many reasons, in addition to just wishing to be part of somewhere and belong.

Re: Out of character - Not Game Related

Apologies, I've been putting alot of time into setting the mechwarrior game up that i've neglected another campaign i'm responsible for.  I'm going to do the right thing and concentrate on them today, and put this game on the backburner for a day.

Re: Out of character - Not Game Related

I'm dealing with a shortage of game masters in my pathfinder campaign...

Like a third of them are effectively AWOL, and another will go on hiatus in another month or so.  I'm a little distracted with damage control over there.

Still keeping an eye on the game over here though.  Waiting on comments for the base resource allocation and who whats to use this part or that part of the base for something.  If you dont care say so and i'll move on.

Inevitably when theres a fire fight here, how well prepared you are will reflect the thought you put into it now.

Congrats on th whole citizen thing. Seems to me, those who aren't appreciate it a lot more, especially those who work to become so.

What country are you native of, if you don't mind the question?

Re: Out of character - Not Game Related

uh, from Ireland, originally (Republic of), though I've spent most of my adult life before the US in Scotland.

*waves politely* Base organisation is really "the biscuit"'s job. My distinct lack of tactics training means I am useless and I'm only a PFC. Expect me to dig myself a foxhole and stay there.

I need to come up with good nicknames for everyone else.

Re: Out of character - Not Game Related

IC my job, yes. OOC, I want suggestions as I'm not really a military officer IRL. Haven't even been a non-comm for about 20 years, so I have a few vague ideas of the way it should be, and even those are rusty and likely not the best. however, even those rusty ideas might have no relationship whatsoever to Peg's RPing universe.

So- all suggestions gratefully accepted. Since she's allowing you to have a role in deciding your futures, I suggest you take it. I won't mind if you don't, but I fully expect no complaints from anyone who doesn't speak up. Even dumb ideas are better than no ideas, and I honestly don't expect any of those. (Ignorant ideas, maybe, but that's completely different and I don't even mind those.)

You do realize, when anyone asks me why you call me that, the answer is going to be "It's British for Cookie. She just wants to eat me up, she thinks I'm so sweet." :P

Let me congratulate you on your citizenship, even if it's not official until Wednesday, it's all complete but the song. I just told my daughter yesterday, if I were a teacher in one of those schools where they don't allow you to force the kids to say the pledge of allegience, I'd stand up every day and say, "Those who are proud to be Americans please join me. Those who aren't, sit down and shut up." :P (Probably couldn't do that either, but I'd sure try.)

Re: Out of character - Not Game Related

well, I've never been in the military EVER, though to be fair, most people I've RPed with over the years have been soldiers.

I'm really looking forward to it. A culmination of many years of happiness :-) I think I'm barely going to be able to say the words as I'll be crying my heart out.
