Alien Immortals or a Town that Traveled?

I've got two ideas, weigh in on which you'd rather play:

1. The players are powerful alien immortals marooned on Earth in the distant past. You're from a more advanced culture, and while you may look human, compared to the natives you're superhumanly strong and durable... and you age far more slowly. In this game the players will progress through historical eras, making the best of their situation or trying to advance humanity to the point where they can go home.

2. The players are the most capable residents of a small town that finds itself transported to another world. As such, it falls to them to explore this new world, protect their community from whatever threats arise, and deal with the natives... or they could abandon it and go off and have irresponsible adventures instead, what fun!

Either game will be run in a black box homebrew system. There are rules, but they're behind the scenes - you just tell me what you attempt, I tell you how it turns out.

I would write Concept #1 a letter every day for a year...

I can has?

Which is to say I think it's a rich and complex concept that I would deeply enjoy playing the boop out of.

Alien immortals sounds amazing! It is something I have never even considered playing, but now that I see it I feel like I have been missing out.

Both are very cool. I rather like the second one and the "Another World"-type vibe it gives. Even a bit of Lost in Space (new show), survival stuff, that kind of thing. Sounds pretty cool to me.

This is a really hard one to be honest. I'd be totally up for either.

The Alien idea works like this:

We open up in a given era with an update regarding what's been happening, how your plans have been going, how things are changing, etc. There's some kind of situation going on in the world which you are free to interact with or ignore (though that generally has negative consequences) either individually or collectively. After the situation is resolved or comes to its natural (horrible) conclusion, I get everyone's plans for the future and skip ahead to the next era.

The wandering town is less episodic, more like a continual campaign. There are situations that must be addressed; players have freedom in deciding how to address them, and what resources to allocate where. Everybody has to be kept fed, sheltered, and safe, while there's a world of potential danger beckoning for exploration.

I'd like to hear more about the second idea.  What's the setting like, how did the town get transported?  Are we talking like a sci-fi spacetime anomaly here?  Or a magical high fantasy teleportation sort of thing?  OR something else?

Figuring all that out is part of the mystery. The game will be ~~~science fantasy~~~ if that helps...

Sure, I wouldn't expect you to give away any secrets or anything.  I'm just asking about the setting: are the PCs in a sci-fi future, some sort of an alternate present, a mythical fantasy realm, something else?

Something else. Not Tolkein-inspired medieval fantasy, though there will be some fantastic and sci fi elements. Flash Gordon/Buck Rodgers/AdventureTime/Final Fantasy/John Carter of Mars might be a closer parallel, but only in terms of tone.

People seem more interested in the second idea sooo...

Wandering Heights is a science fantasy game centered around a small midwestern town that slips from one reality into another. The players are among the most competent of these citizens, and thus it falls to them to keep the community safe in this strange new world in which they find themselves. Gameplay will involve organizing the townsfolk, exploring the new world, maintaining diplomatic relations, keeping the peace at home, and generally making sure everything doesn't fall apart. Some of this will be adventurous, some of it more logistical in nature.

Wandering Heights is run in a home brew system behind a black box - the precise rules are kept behind the scenes.
