IC: Dark Fantasy (Zweihander?)
So, I've had an idea floating around for a while that amounts to a large dungeon into which prisoners are regularly forced for the amusement of the ruling class.  There would be occasional supply drops from outside, entire societies of survivors, and a progression to an exit.

Originally, I'd thought to do this in Pathfinder, but a level based system seems a poor fit. I've also considered GURPS, but don't quite feel that fits. WHFR2e is a good choice, but heavily tied to its setting...

Which brings me to proposing that this is run in Zweihander.  It is a system heavily inspired by WHFR's early editions and quite grim.  There is also a free version of the core rules.

I would probably offer a more controlled character generation (rolling for gender is a bit silly, for instance).

Interest?  Other system suggestions?

Would you consider using WFRP4?

Also were you thinking just dungeon scenes or an interactive environment with the jail as a setting and possibly wealthy patrons visiting etc?

I might be interested even though I am new to the system.

I don't have it, so it likely wouldn't be any time soon.  Is there a free version of the rules?  The fact that it's a slight update to WHFR2e and has a free version is a lot of what drew me to Zweihander.  They also do the basic work of filing the Warhammer trappings off the setting and making it a bit more generic.

Are you familiar with Legend of Grimrock?  That's part of what originally inspired this idea.

To expand on what's above, the basic idea is that there are no jailors to the prison.  There's a single way in (which dumps you into an underground lake) and a single way out (on the other end of the dungeon, after a considerable climb).  The ones that run the dungeon occasionally dump in crates of supplies that survivors scavenge (and other survivors have managed to find other resources farther in to the dungeon).  The biggest twist that makes this more than just another dungeon crawl is that the dungeon/prison has been used for a very long time and there are whole societies of survivors built from them.  Because resources are tight, the groups war with each other and new monsters sometimes appear at seeming random.

It's not a very complicated system, being d100-based for the most part.  It takes a bit to wrap your head around how the classes work (though it's very similar to WHFR2e), but that seems to be the most complicated bit.

I think I'm going to give this a go in Zweihander.  Find the game link here:
