[IC] Torg: Eternity

Would there be any interest in a TE campaign?

It would start with one of the missions in the Delphi Council adventure book and expand from there based on player preferences...

Thoughts?

[IC] Torg: Eternity

Depends- I have the old game (pretty much all of it) but not the new version. How necessary would it be to have the upgraded rulebooks?

[IC] Torg: Eternity

As much as I'd like to say otherwise, it's actually a pretty different game.  I mean, they kept most of the important parts (the Bonus Chart, Possibilities, the logarithmic scale - at least more or less), but they streamlined a lot, especially where Torg had all the intricate subsystems.  (The fact that Magic, Miracles, and Psionics all work pretty much the same is probably my only serious disappointment.  That's supposed to get at least a little better as the Cosm books come out, but only to a point.)

Anyway.  The Free RPG Day Special has basically their quick start rules, which would probably give you enough to know if it would be worth you starting to buy in to the new books.  But it doesn't explain Perks much at all, and Eternity is heavily built on Perks.  Pretty much any kind of special ability - magic, cybernetics, pulp powers, just being really tough - are all done through Perks now.

Overall, with some help.. really just with character creation, I'd say knowing the original game and picking up the Free RPG Day Special (which is, indeed, free) could work.  The setting is, of course, essentially the same.  They changed some things to kind of make it `theirs', but while you might be surprised by some things, you won't be lost.

[IC] Torg: Eternity

I would love to play in a Torg Eternity game. I have the Cargo Box and am waiting on my Living Land book.

I wouldn't say the new books would be absolutely essential if you're familiar with the original version. A lot of the drama deck is different (two separate decks now with one for initiative/rounds and the other for hands to draw) and there is an additional set of cards for each cosm that players get one of as long as in that cosm.

I can definitely work with you on unfamiliar things, as well as helping with the concepts/archetypes, etc.

One big change in the setting, is that the Delphi Council is a 'good guy' organization headed by Quin Sebastian and serves as something of a mentor/patron/employer for the Storm Knights.

I wish I'd been able to afford to get a Cargo Box. :( I did manage to get the LL book though, so happy there. :)

With a couple of interests, I'll set up a prelim game where we could discuss game details, etc...

If anyone is interested, this thread (http://www.ulisses-us.com/foru....php?f=31&t=1461) has a link to a windows character generator for TE so can see how characters are structured, etc...

Definitely interested! I have a little experience with the original, and access to the books for the new edition.

Re: [IC] Torg: Eternity

4 interests seems enough. :)

I've got a basic game setup, with a discussion thread here: <link removed since have enough interest for now. :) >

For RTJ, just let me know you were in this thread, and I'll add you...
