Traveller or Bulldogs (fate)

I'm interested in running a sci Fi game about a rag tag team that undertakes 'grey' side jobs.

The biggest question is which system I should use. I've narrowed it down to Traveller (Mongoose 2nd Ed), Bulldogs (Fate) or Barbarians of the Void. (BoL).

Which would people most be interested in playing? Would you recommend one system more than the others?

In reply to Gamergirl (msg # 1):

Traveller. Specifically Mongoose Traveller.

I've played Bulldogs and just didn't care for the stock setting (which I imagine could be altered, but still). I like Fate Core in general, though it strikes me as being on the other side of the spectrum from just about any edition of Traveller.

I don't know Barbarians of the Void.

I'd be interested in Traveller! I don't know either of the other systems.

My guess is that Traveler would be the easiest one to work with simply because it'll be the best known of the three, with the largest potential player base.

The main downside that I can think of is that it could be an issue if if the 'gray' side jobs tend to involve a lot of shotgun/gunboat diplomacy, and not so much because of the lethality (although there is that) but due to medical/repair costs being prohibitive.

Traveller or Bulldogs (fate)

I'm going to go out on a limb here and ask:  what posting rate would be required of players in this game?  (I find a lot of my time is no longer my own, and know I would be posting mainly about one a.m. local time (CDT), as I work evenings.)

If you were to allow me to play, I'd probably be okay with either Traveller or Fate, though it might be easier to start with Fate Accelerated than to massage Bulldogs! into what you want.

I take it the background and setting for this game would be original (i.e., not set in the Traveller "standard" universe)?

If I am unable to play, I might wish to hang out and learn a thing or two if that's all right.

In any event, here's wishing you much success with this game!

Seems like there should be ways to work around that. Since it's a game known for lethality, the potential issues of dead or incapacitated characters should be considered in advance anyway. If a character is killed or is damaged beyond usefulness, there should be a way to replace them quickly.

Also, it can be perfectly realistic for the goals of any opposing sides not depend on the utter destruction of the other side. That can still leaves "injury" as a potential issue, but it can put the focus more on just nullifying the opposition, rather than completely obliterating them.
