[Marvel Heroic] City of Crime

I'm thinking of giving it another shot with MHR and the concept will be early 70s (Bronze Age of comics).  Instead of running a team, we'll focus on the streets of New York and individual or partners working a story set in the Marvel Universe.  There might be some crossover, but it might just be a solo story so you have to want the extra lifting that would come with the focus being all on you.

Characters will be canon, and you can pick from the likes of Daredevil, Power Man/Iron Fist, Daughters of the Dragon, Sons of the Tiger, etc.  The list is not meant to be exhaustive.  Clearly, don't propose non-crime fighters.  The X-Men are not appropriate here.

I have one player lined up and he's pitched a retconned White Tiger (Angela Del Toro instead of Hector Ayala).  I don't mind tinkering with Marvel continuity--as long as things fit the concept of the game.

This proposed Daredevil sizzle reel from Joe Carnahan is what I'm going for.  The target rating will be Mature, at least, if not Adult, so age appropriate players only, please.

Excelsior! I love this era, count me in!

Is this freeform or will you use an RPG system to manage conflict resolutions/fights?

I'll be using Marvel Heroic Roleplaying (Cortex).

What kind of posting rate are you looking for? I'm usually highly interested in MHR games.

With a solo game, it's less driven than a team game.  If you pause or disappear, I don't have to do anything but focus on other individual stories that run concurrently.

I post every day, and my reserved slot player can keep up something like that, so we're off to a good start. Just to keep things moving though, and because I'd probably get bored otherwise, I'd say every few days at a minimum.

[Marvel Heroic] City of Crime

Having grown up in the Bronze Era, I'm all about this.

I have the rulebook (& the Civil War expansion), but I've never actually played. Would you be good with guiding a new player through the more intricate details around creating Assets and Complications?

Given the solo nature of the stories, it'll be no problem.

Oh nice! I almost co-GM-ed a game like this back when MHR was new.

I’m increasingly interested in more solo/player-driven games since my pace is not what it used to be.

[Marvel Heroic] City of Crime

So I've got another idea.  We'd go with a WW II slant on the City of Crime, and it would be change in tone from Bronze to Golden (but a post-modern version--IOW, far less on the silly).

Another difference would be to take canon characters and reskin them.  I have one player lined up, for instance, who's pitched Hellcat (Patsy Walker) as the public domain heroine Miss/Black Fury.

We'd start with more or less solo stories, but then--getting some DC in my Marvel--President Roosevelt would call all the heroes together for a task force to take on Axis evil!  Of course, some of your solo stories--no doubt!--will feature fifth columnists.

I don't do first come/first served, so your audition process is to reskin an existing Marvel datafile and come up with something new (or like the first player, use someone in the public domain).

Point of clarity: we're using Marvel datafiles reskinned and this won't be taking place in either Marvel or DC continuity.

I'd be up for that idea as well. I like reskinning and WW2 paramilitary task force is a bit more interesting than gritty inner city vigilantes.
