Gauging interest in TORG Eternity

This is in the earliest stages in my mind. (Did the triple tagged emphasis come through? Just checking).

I was thinking about purchasing TORG Eternity, looking it over to see if I liked it enough to run a game in that world. I owned the original TORG and always thought the concept was very interesting.

But, I tend to run/play games online and not in real life, so just wanted to gauge interest in people playing a TORG campaign.

Let me know your thoughts.

Cheers,

Rob

I really loved the original rules. No idea what the new edition is like, but I'm interested.

TORG is on my long list of "always kind of wanted to try but never did".  I'd be interested.

I would be so up for a game of Eternity, though it looks like you already have more than enough interest.  But if you end up with room, I'd be interested!

I played TORG a lot when it came out, and it influenced a lot of games I have played and GMed in. I'd be very excited to play it again. I don't have the Eternity rule set, but drivethrurpg exists

Gauging interest in TORG Eternity

A few months ago, I started this thread about TORG Eternity. It's taken me a little while to get my act together i terms of getting the Core Rules book and reviewing potential adventures.

If the same (or even new people) are interested, I was curious whether everyone would want a Day 1 Adventure, where you are a Core Earth human who experiences the invasion of the Cosms (and likely becomes a Storm Knight).

Or would people prefer a game where a group of Storm Knights from various Cosms come together to be sent out on a Delphi Council Mission? This allows more character creation of

And as a favor, can everyone also mention their experience with the original TORG and TORG

I would love to play some Torg Eternity. The Day One adventures sound very fun and that would be my vote. I played the original Torg for many years and I just started running a Torg Eternity game and are thinking of starting a second one.

rmax, I haven't started the game, I just want to know what type of game to develop and everyone's experience level with the game.

I never played the original, though I did read a crossover novel with Paranoia a long time ago.  That counts, right?

Anyway, my preference is always to experience the thing about the game that the game is "about".  If the majority of play is meant to be as Stormknights, I'd say do that.

I ran a four year TORG campaign (with some off shoots later on), and freelanced for WEG.  I've played Eternity.  I've either run or played all of Day 1, so my interest would be the after day 1 campaign.

What I'm interested in is how you plan on handling the cards.  I've been in roll20 TORG E games, but never on a forum.

In reply to rmax (msg # 16):

I was just planning on communicating the information from the cards into posts or private messages. The other choice is to play the game without cards. I know there are rules for playing without them.

What's your opinion on it?

Re: Gauging interest in TORG Eternity

I agree with Amandi.  The cards are fun and make everything more dynamic.  There are also a large number of things that rely on the cards (dramatic skill resolution for example).  Cosm cards are also critical for the feel of whichever Cosm you're in (and it makes mixed regions even more interesting).

Since cards are not secret (and need to be traded among players), we could always end posts with what we have in hand, and during combat, what is in our action pool.

Re: Gauging interest in TORG Eternity

I’ve returned to RPOL after being gone for quite a while with the idea to run some Torg Eternity. Imagine my surprised excitement to find someone else considering it as well and a slew of folks interested. :)

I would be interested in playing as well, and to me Torg isn’t Torg without the cards. I have a spreadsheet with the decks and use it to set up the shuffle and initial hands. At that point, the hands and discards can be kept track of on a forum post....
