Planescape Clueless game?

an idea, how would you like to play a game of 2nd edition Planescape focused entirely around a group of adventurers from the prime trying to establish themselves in sigil?

So. Much. Yes. I cannot express how much I would love this.

As long as it's second edition; I have no real interest in doing a 3.5 version of Planescape.

Id agree to that full heartedly, some of the rule refinements in 3.5 were good, but what they did to the cosmology was laughable.

Well one thing what races to allow, and any optional rules we should consider?

I think I'll actually use Demihuman level limitations, for once, to keep a human focus.

That's the kind of thing that probably needs to be saved for the actual game, if it happens.

If you really want to go for the humble origins; make it a low-level start. Level 1, maybe 2.

What books other than the PHB will you be allowing for character creation?

level 1

and not sure...Thinking Skills and powers has revised options for kits?

or maybe the "Complete" races and classes books.

lets have them from a generic prime world rather then toril or krynn.

I'd prefer the complete books; skills and powers turned me off.

Making it a generic world; saves people from having to figure out precise background for a world which is about to become fairly irrelevant.

I would stay well away from Skills & Powers, it was a broken system that was too easy to meta-game.

On the other hand, the two other books from that series are much better. Combat & Tactics had some interesting combat options, even if you didn't want to expand to using miniatures. It certainly made playing a fighter worthwhile. And Spells & Magic would be completely essential to a Planescape game -- the alternate magic systems could represent different factions and planar cultures.

Re: Planescape Clueless game?

fair enough

I really liked reading through combat and tactics, it was the first AD&D book I bought with my own money.

2e FTW!

This said, I'd prefer having the PCs come from a known campaign world, preferably Faerun.

Apart from that, I'd second using the "Complete" books for char creation as they are the core of AD&D2e from my p o v.

Re: Planescape Clueless game?

Yeah; I never bought any of those books now assigned as 2.5e. I have nearly every complete handbook though.

Re: Planescape Clueless game?

I'd give it a go. I prefer 3.5 as my 'goto' 3rd edition system, but any system is cool. I like Sigil: I'm actually there in a different game right now, and I'd love to explore it.

Re: Planescape Clueless game?

Psionics pre third edition are mostly broken unless everyone has them, at which point they might be fun. I'd vote for not having them

I like psionics; but there are some powers which need to be houseruled to work differently.

Re: Planescape Clueless game?

I have a few ideas; but I'd have to drag out my book to thoroughly check it. What I'd do, is have a stance of 'I may houserule things down the track, if it appears too powerful'.

Re: Planescape Clueless game?

sounds good gamed for over a decade with someone on AOL who demanded "All changes up front" and a bunch of other ridiculous stuff, like she hated the Morality systems in white wolf games, etc etc...
