I am thinking of doing something like a space rp. Like one of those cities rps but in space. There is a BIG space station where people were experimenting living in when a massive asteroid hit earth leaving only those inside the space station alive. I plan this to be ADULT because there will be sexual situations I believe and I just want mature people on it to make it more real. I am still vague about details but I plan to have at most 10 people in the rp, might open for more.

That does sound somewhat interesting. the premise is bound to have a great deal of psychological drama.

That sounds like something along the lines of Seveneves by Neal Stephenson.

Does the strike nudge Earth off its orbit or is it just an ELE? What kind of political-social-military structure is present in the station? What are the technical capabilities of the people in the station? Are there plans to settle the moon? Harvest asteroids/comets?

The asteroid fully made the planet inhabatible(sp). The station was an experiment of Nasa to see how normal humans without training can last in space. The station is fully equipped with all latest technology. The plans will be made by players.p

The issue with "Asteroid hits earth and Everyone is dead" is that Earth will see it coming. With the length of warning that current let alone near future tech provides we would see people using anything they can to get off of Earth. Then there is the issue that even a Dinosaur killer Asteroid that does things like set off the Yellowstone Volcano still will not kill off all Life on Earth just make it very hard to live for a few Centuries.

That being said the "Station" would be cut off for an unknown period of time. Then there would be collecting up survivors(Cue new players) and creating an Orbital culture.

Very good points Rockwolf, which gave me an idea. The asteroid would basically destroy all living life and yes I imagine it would be alerted so what I came up is this. The space station would be a heaven for a select group of people, like the movie deep impact. Now of course the station would call on certain people up front while others were called at random, I see this now as a massive game which you could be one of the following

1- Crew: Crew of the space station, sent there to make sure the station is kept in optimal conditions

2- First Collected: Those with an particular area of expertise that the government thinks can  help the humanity grow again.

3- Random collected: Those people that were selected by random and sent up to the station.
