Shadow of the Demon Lord
Glad to hear there's some interest! I'll try to accept as many as I can. Although I'm also curious about the start of the campaign at the moment actually. I have a few ideas that might be interesting below. Mind telling me what you might think about them? It's more about how the party knows eachother and the like, although obviously each will have effects to the storyline as a whole.
Starting Locations
A quiet pilgrim town: The group begins as members of a small religious community. It'd probably be the Cult of the New God, but it could work with a different faith (even a small one). Could be fun for some religious themes and cosmological issues. Alternatively a group on a religious pilgrimage.
A dark, stormy night: The characters are all citizens of a town or village, waiting out a dark stormy night in the local tavern. Something turns out to be wrong in the town, as proven by the entrance of a Witch Hunter into the bar.
A sweaty, dingy hold: The heroes are poor slaves held on a slaver ship out near the Pirate Isles. They escape their slavery, only to find worse troubles awaiting them as the darkness starts to seep through the (already corrupt) isles.
A crowded army camp: A group following the Imperial Army on their attempts to contain an Orcish (or demonic) incursion. They do petty jobs for the military, nursing, helping the soldiers, or looting the fallen. Would have a slightly more army/military feel based on the character's actions.
A broken refugee camp: With the shadow of the Demon Lord falling across the land, whole villages are uprooted through raids and calamities as their former inhabitants huddle together in makeshift towns outside of caring or cruel cities. These sites, although filled with the downtrodden, are also places where heroes may rise.
