Shadow of the Demon Lord

Hello! I'm looking to jumpstart a new Shadow of the Demon Lord game! This one will be an epic adventure where a band of canny upstarts have to learn powerful martial and magical skills, lean more about the dangers of the world around them, and fight to survive in a world falling into darkness.

This game would be starting at level zero, and that makes it rather easy for new players to enter the game. Players would not need to own the book or have any experience, I'm always happy to accept some new players. Would anybody be interested?

If some people are, I'd be happy to start discussing a few campaign prompts and the like.

I am new to the game, but I like the kinda Diablo-esque vibe going on and the artwork is supercool. Count me interested while I skim the rules for a general rule of how it works.

I would definitely be interested. I picked up sotdl a while ago when I read some reviews of is mechanics and style focus. I really like the way it handles a lot of elements, from classes to stats and combat, and the world theme inherent in the core book and great.

Well that's five players, that's a group if you ask me.

Glad to hear there's some interest! I'll try to accept as many as I can. Although I'm also curious about the start of the campaign at the moment actually. I have a few ideas that might be interesting below. Mind telling me what you might think about them? It's more about how the party knows eachother and the like, although obviously each will have effects to the storyline as a whole.

Starting Locations

A quiet pilgrim town: The group begins as members of a small religious community. It'd probably be the Cult of the New God, but it could work with a different faith (even a small one). Could be fun for some religious themes and cosmological issues. Alternatively a group on a religious pilgrimage.

A dark, stormy night: The characters are all citizens of a town or village, waiting out a dark stormy night in the local tavern. Something turns out to be wrong in the town, as proven by the entrance of a Witch Hunter into the bar.

A sweaty, dingy hold: The heroes are poor slaves held on a slaver ship out near the Pirate Isles. They escape their slavery, only to find worse troubles awaiting them as the darkness starts to seep through the (already corrupt) isles.

A  crowded army camp: A group following the Imperial Army on their attempts to contain an Orcish (or demonic) incursion. They do petty jobs for the military, nursing, helping the soldiers, or looting the fallen. Would have a slightly more army/military feel based on the character's actions.

A broken refugee camp: With the shadow of the Demon Lord falling across the land, whole villages are uprooted through raids and calamities as their former inhabitants huddle together in makeshift towns outside of caring or cruel cities. These sites, although filled with the downtrodden, are also places where heroes may rise.

I have no bigger sway to any specific ones, they all look interesting in their own ways, except perhaps for the first one.

My favorite would almost certainly be the second. "A dark and stormy night" would pull together diverse but connected villagers, regular people, and trust them onto an adventure. I think that's the sort of sorry this game excels at.

I'm chipping in with 5, I like the Broken Refugee concept, but hey, 2 is fine as well. Any of the 5 is fine, actually.

It's still a thing most definitely! I've just been dealing with some IRL troubles. Hopefully things should be better by the end of the week.

I would be up for this also, with a preference for option 2.

Thought I would prefer to start off at level 1 rather than 0, considering the slower progression of pbp games and that it would allow for more character options.
