Futuristic Post Apocolyptic RPG

So I'm trying to start up a campaign.
Hello, my name is Fir, and, although I’m very knew to thi site & being a Game Master, I’m very ambitious.
You see, I’m planning on building up a little RPG campaign with D&D as the main foundation. I’m planning on setting it in a post-apocalyptic future where natural disasters hit civilization hard. I’ll be making some environment, designs, enemies, weapons, (and occasional art) myself, so please have patience!

A little sample of the setting…

Skyscrapers?

Blown away by hurricanes and tornados.

The floating castles humanity had put so much faith in?

Reduced to rubble by storms.

The underground caverns that slunk even beneath the ocean?

Caved in by earthquakes and tremors.

But, despite heavy loses, life goes on. People survive, and so does (some) technology. We rebuild, slowly, and come out of the woodworks to try and coexist. But some have become addicted to the chaos that lasted as the world was torn to shreds, and seek out a way to restore the people to their ‘correct’ primitive and savage ways.

I (clearly) still need to hammer down details, (like scheduling, group size, a couple of mechanics I may or may not add, classes, races, a few enemies and possible companions, some quests and ect,) but those are the basics. It’ll be fairly open-ended, and I’m perfectly willing to bear with you if you want to make a custom character. But, for right now, I just want to know if anyone is interested, and if you are, please message me something, I'ld like to see how many people I can rally up as I start working.
The setting will be semi-serious, but general goofyness will ensue!

If you've got some advice, criticism, ect, please let me know, and I'll do my best.

Thank you for reading, and have a wonderful day!

Which edition? It can work in 5e, but 3.5/d20 is not a good choice (even with 6th ed Gamma World).

Colour me interested though.

Oh, I'm very sorry for not mentioning this, it was late at night, you see.

I've only ever played 5e, so I'll most likely do it in 5e.

I'm planning on adding some custom items and classes, as well as new races and enemies. I'm mostly going through the concept stages right now, I'll focus on stats and attacks a little later.
Once I get some of the details down, if you could help me balance things out that would be lovely!

(A small warning; there will be copious amount of sentient plantlife, so I suppose the working title I have right now is Overgrowth.)

Would definitely want to play.

Will there be psionics? They're not necessary, but I'd really love to.

Sounds interesting. When did the world get destroyed, current technology level or sometime farther in the future?

Is this game still in the works? I'd definitely be interested in playing.

You may want to check out Mutant Future by Goblinoid Games.  It's free in PDF.  It is basically an early edition Gamma World hack that is fully compatible with early edition D&D.  It could easily be tweaked to run with 5E.  Even if you don't use it completely, it would probably make setting up your game much easier by incorporating the stuff you like (why reinvent the wheel?).
