[IC] Original Super Heroes with a homebrew system

So I have this idea for a supers game that takes place in a fictional city, roughly twice the size of Manhattan island, where certain people (read the players) are granted super powers and if they try to leave the island? The powers fail them, sometimes fatally.

I'm aiming for an adult feel to the game, less about graphic stuff, and just more about questioning what it means to have power and what you'll do with it. I have a laundry list of powers I could give out, or I'm more than willing to work with people who have a power in mind and want to explore that. I've also got a super simple homebrew d20 that is used for combat and the like, so how you handle a situation is left up to the player.

This sounds really cool, I'm interested. Could I ask, what are some of the powers available on your laundry list?

Well, Angara I have things like skin shedding, which is to shed one's skin for various effects like turning into a steel person, there is the garden variety of elemental manipulation, elevated human performance, splicing which is to take two DNA strands and put them together. The list is some 80 powers, with as little overlap as I could manage on my own.

As far as story wise? Everyone and I mean everyone that gets a power, will start from day 1. No exceptions to this, not even from my end. It also only means that while your power may not be fully developed, your character will have skills and connections outside of that to call on. As far as what is the end goal? Personally, I like when players are allowed to finish their personal narrative and call it from there. In a more general sense? Figuring out where the powers came from, and if this was an isolated incident.

[IC] Original Super Heroes with a homebrew system

As one poster said already, it does sound interesting, working from the ground up(growing in your powers so to speak). I know i have done it with other chars already well known, like from X-men etc. Still i find it much better if i personally like the char, it helps me to want to bring out how shadow cat walks on air or how does she breath while phasing thru solid material?.

That and the other players all have contributions to making the game either fun or tedious. Anyway i would like to hear more of your idea/ideas.

There is a series that is almost exactly like what you said. I think its worthwhile for you to see the series. The powers are called 'Troubles' on the series. Might give you some ideas, if you are going to do this you have one more player.
