IC: Prowlers & Paragons [a superhero campaign]

Prowlers & Paragons is a little known SHRPG that has a lot going for it.  For me, it strikes the right balance between granularity and narrative focus.  At its core it uses a d6 pool (counting successes) for its singular mechanic.  In some aspects its similar to Supers! REd.  In other aspects it's similar to Icons in that you don't have every power listed on your sheet, but have to stunt them as necessary with meta-points.  The game plays quickly and there's a built-in dice roller here on the site.

For those that don't own the book (it's $5 on DTRPG), there's the Quickstart issue and ten pre-gen characters on the company's website.

I'm thinking of running a fast-and-loose campaign world that's four-color in background with lots of the standard tropes so we can just jump in with common comic book assumptions and you don't need a massive info dump on the world background. Example: we'll just start with the assumption you're already a team and get right into it.  Long drawn out character creation and team-building doesn't work for me in PbP.

I've looked at it like a ton of times wanting to buy it just to read it, but I never had a real reason to so put me in the "relevant to mah interests" column too.

In reply to drewalt (msg # 4):

It's up to you whether you want to buy the current edition, but just FYI: there's a new "ultimate" edition being Kickstartered this summer.  I don't have details beyond that because as of now only Sean Patrick Fannon's Patreons have the inside scoop.

As to playing in the game, all you need is the Quickstart rules to get the mechanics, and as long as you're willing to play a pre-gen, you're good to go.

If you have the book, I can help with you creating an original.  It's just that without it, it's a real PITA since the Quickstart rules don't include the power descriptions.

If you want to play a pre-gen, I suggest you look them over and starting claiming dibs.

We have three who have expressed interest, and I'd prefer to start 4-5 because inevitably we'll lose someone in short order who's unrealistic about their schedule (or who just doesn't have the courtesy to tell me they're rage quitting and going to set their hair on fire).

If I get a place I'll post you a concept and if you can give me a hand I'd like to give an original a go :)
