[IC] Mystery Men using RISUS

Looking to gauge interest in a game that would pick up a couple of years after the end of the movie Mystery Men.  I'd be using RISUS with an experience/bonus system taken from Over The Edge (which is something of an ancestor of RISUS, so it's similarly fast and simple and fun).

The general premise is that in the wake of the apparent deaths of Casanova Frankenstein and Captain Amazing, a number of supervillains fought over Champion City in an attempt to assert dominance.  The winner of that battle now considers the city his property.  The original Mystery Men have disappeared, retired, or left town, so it's up to the new generation of Mystery Men to free Champion City!

  • Players would create original characters in the Mystery Men mold
  • Little emphasis on ultra-efficient superhero tactical unit actions
  • High emphasis on quirkiness, originality, character interaction, and comedy

EDIT:  Pretty encouraging responses so far!  If we can get one or two more players, I'll start putting together the page...

I've only played RISUS once, and that was.. a long time ago.  But I know it's a very simple system so I'm sure I could brush up again quickly.

This sounds like a lot of fun.  I would definitely be interested.

(Although I've always seen Mystery Men as, like, a 60-point-level GURPS game, where Heller pitched his, "Hyper-Invention, but he can only build weapons... except they all have to be non-lethal."  And the GM laughed and said, "Yeah, that sounds like an 80% limitation."  And then he showed up at the first session with a 2-inch-thick 3-ring binder full of inventions.)

This is a very cool concept. Mystery Men has to be my favorite Ben Stiller movie and Risus is a game I've wanted to try for a while, but the opportunity never came up. I'm interested for sure!
