[IC] D&D 4E Arena: Dungeon Delve
Disclaimer: I've actually run this in the past, a couple years ago. I let it get over my head, though, running too many groups at once. Plus the birth of my daughter effectively killed my free time, so the game had to go.
Here's the idea. We make a party of five, trying for a pretty balanced group. Run the first-level scenario in the Dungeon Delve book. When/if the party finishes it, advance everyone to 2nd level, upgrade their gear to match, then run them through the next scenario. There's thirty in all, one for each character level.
If I do this -- again -- I'm setting a strict limit of one party. Last time, I let it get up to three full groups, with several more PCs idling, and keeping it moving was getting overwhelming. Then I had to go and reproduce, and we saw how that helped.
(Joking aside, I love the kid.)
So, speed-run through multiple dungeons, fast-tracking levels, cohesive narrative be damned. This would be a primarily tactical game, with RPing coming in incidentally. And no extra PCs until/unless I get a good pace and maybe a co-GM.
