IC: Eberron with Fate Accelerated Edition
Premise: I don't really have a story, so much as a seed of an idea. I want to run a game in the Eberron setting, but utilizing Fate instead of d20, focusing more on the pulp and noir aspects of the setting, though also with sweeping epic and high adventure. A few elements I want to explore are:

  • The tensions that arise from the various demographics of a city.
  • Picking up the pieces of peace after the Last War.
  • The rebirth of the Mark of Death, with all the consequences thereof.
  • The Church of the Silver Flame as a force for good and for evil.
  • The insidious Dreaming Dark.
  • The dragons and their Draconic Prophecy.
  • And, of course, the rise of the Overlords of the Age of Demons.

Also, my version of the setting has a few things different to the world than what's presented in the campaign setting books. However, I'll try to go over what's different, as well as provide a basic setting document that has the big picture stuff in it.

System: I am more interested in characters and story than in system mechanics. As such, while this game uses Fate Accelerated Edition and some tweaks from the Dresden Files Accelerated ruleset, the fiction will often triumph over mechanics. I will always go the path that makes for a better story.

I'm interested.

Would there be a conversation between the participants about the conventions and archetypes of pulp and noir? D&D is often focused on the characters and their uniqueness, resulting in things like half-demon warforged vampires, instead of anything reflecting the particular setting or theme, and with how freeform Fate is, I would hope that there would be some guidelines agreed to.

I expect character creation to take place together as a group. I'm also of a mind that the characters need to support each other in theme and tone, though I'm not sure if I answered your question.

Yes, I think you answered it, thanks. I had forgotten that character creation in Fate Accelerated is more collaborative.

How collaborative do you imagine the game being? Fate is intended to be highly collaborative, but different people have different understandings of what that means.

I am interested in this as well.

I have experience mostly with systems such as DnD, Pathfinder, and White Wolf. I have never played with the Fate System or the Fate Accelerated system before but I do have a good knowledge of the setting and have run several games within it myself.

The basic Fate rules are available online, I believe, if you want to brush up.

Ita possible to make Fate emulate other games, but that, I find, is not playing to its strengths.

Eberron sounds like just the thing to fix the Dresden Files Accelerated rule set by turning it into an actual game rather than just a fan fiction creation system.

Count me in if you are doing advance invites, or just post it and see who floods the RTJs.

Definite interest. I've never really gotten the opportunity to explore the Eberron setting the way I'd like to.
