[IC] Gurps FInal Fantasy 1

I was thinking of trying to set up a game inspired by the old Final Fantasy 1 game for Gurps.

I tried this with D&D some years ago, and it worked well enough, save that most folks wanted the reins loosened to allow more than the game did. I was more stringent. Also, it's a game setting designed for 4 people, whihc isn't always enough to keep things alive on RPoL.

For Gurps, it would have to be an "inspired by" game, as Gurps Magic groups spells differently. I was thinking guilds and Magic schools for the various mag types, with Limited Magery to level 1 to start (levels 2 and 3 to be earned through game events). This lets me limit spell access through the Schools/guilds, while giving back some points to the players (who shouldn't have to pay for full access, if access is limited).

Warrior, thief, and monk can be handled by an appropriate advantage (Trained by Master and Weapon Master, for instance) and and combat styles unique to each. They could still USE any weapon, but would do better with the ones their Guild Advantage focused on.

And that's another reason for "Inspired by": Weapon and armor use aren't as limited in Gurps as in class based games.

So..IS anyone interested? If there's enough interest, I can transcribe the guild requirements and benefits, which would be enough for folks to start character generation. Please keep in mind that this would be more dungeon crawl and adventure than role play, although there would certainly be some roleplay involved. It's Gurp, after all.

I'm thinking 150 points to start, Magery 1 (Limited)asa starting limit for mages. I'm not entirely sure on disadvantages, yet, but not many,as too many of the physical impairments or anti social behaviors would be counter productive.

Hmm, I would be interested in it. If you do not mind accepting a rookie at gurps in.

I'm not as familiar with Final Fantasy as a lot of folks are, but I'm a big fan of GURPS and fantasy settings - totally interested.

How big a rookie? Do you have the Basic Book at least? Basically: Can you make a character?

I have made characters before, but do to one reason or another have never played, also I do not have the book, but character creation rules are not hard to find.

That's 3. We need a hard 4, one per Crystal. Plus spares for inevitable losses.

I haven't played gurps in ages. I'll need a lot of reminders, but I'm interested.

Well, that's four. Give me a day or two to get the basics posted, and I'll post the game here.

OK, I've got enough posted to allow for a rough idea of what to expect, and to make a starting character.

link to another game

Remember, this is using a video game as it's model, so it's going to be mission oriented and combat heavy.
