NPCs Of Importance!

This thread will outline NPCs that you should know about, such as teachers, adversaries, contacts, and so forth. If you want to add an NPC here from your backstory, or feel that an NPC you meet during the course of the game should be on the board, let me know and I shall see whether or not their inclusion is appropriate. No unreasonable request will be refused!

Re: NPCs Of Importance!

Headmistress of St. Trinians School For Young Ladies: Miss Artemis Fritton

Miss Artemis Fritton, great-granddaughter of the original founder of St. Trinians School for Young Ladies. She's a handsome lady in her late 30s or early 40s. She is herself an ex-pupil, who moved onto the staff as a tutor as soon as she finished her time at University (she did not graduate - she was expelled form Oxford for behavour that brought the university into disrepute.) Having spent most of her life at the school, Miss Fritton is aware of almost every possible trick the girls might try to pull, and has done most of them herself at one time or another. However, she also encourages and supports the girls, and so long as they do not put the school or lives at undue risk, she is the best friend they could have. She is universally respected, and her wrath is enough to cause girls to run screaming.

Re: NPCs Of Importance!

Games Mistress: Felicity Stanhouse

Ms Stanhouse comes from a long line of wealthy career military personnel. Her upper-class family have been officers in the armed forces for generations. She is fiercely patriotic, to both her country and now, to the school. She served with distinction in Northern Ireland, Iraq, and Afghanistan, before receiving a piece of shrapnel in her leg which forced her to retire from the service, more due to the mental trauma of years under fire than from the physical damage she received.

Felicity adores teaching the girls, especially as they are keen to hear her war stories. In return, they enjoy her lessons, as she is all for promoting the attitude that competitve sports are akin to war, and should be treated as such. She considers them to be her platoon, and treats the accordingly, and her lessons often end up as a military drill, or a pitched battle on the hockey pitch, rather than being a conventional friendly competitive game.

School Cooks: Mrs Pritchard and Miss Crippen

Mrs Pritchard and Miss Crippen are responsible for feeding the girls at the school, as well as meals for the staff. They are very aware of what will happen to them if food is not up to scratch, so they provide meals that are, on the whole, extremely good. They personally have foul tempers and survive at the school through a process of being good at their jobs, and fearfully intimidating to the pupils. This doesn't always work, and no matter what they do, their kitchens are raided on a weekly basis by girls after food, or ingredients for their insalubrious experiments.

Re: NPCs Of Importance!

Biology Mistress: Dr Margery Banks

Dr Banks has practiced medicine for many years, but under a variety of names. Her unorthodox methods and constant 'experimentation' has resulted in her being struck off many times. She looks on patients as machines, or guinea pigs, and has no qualms at all about causing aches and pains to them in order to advance science. St. Trinians is the only establishment prepared to employ her with her awful reputation. She puts up with the mayhem at the school so she can have access to a laboratory where she can continue with her dark experiments.

Re: NPCs Of Importance!

English and Drama Master: Anthony Milton

Mr Milton's classes are always quiet and well attended. He never has any trouble from the girls, and has always found them attentive and interested in his lessons. This may have something to do with his being stunningly handsome. This, coupled with his 'poetic soul' as an English teacher, make him the object of affection for the vast majority of the girls in the school. In his class, the girls are on their best behaviour, hoping to impress him, but outside the classroom, the gloves come off.

Re: NPCs Of Importance!

Maths Mistress: Millicent Steamworthy

This rather doddery old lady actually has a mind like a steel trap. Her head for numbers has made her one of the world's best poker players. In various online venues, she plays as 'Bret Munchkin,' a loud and bullying Texan, and has a world reputation that could scarcely be more different to her own real life persona. Millcent advises the girls not only on their long division, but also their stock portfolios and gambling techniques.

Re: NPCs Of Importance!

Religious Studies Master: Erasmus Worm

The RS Master stays out of the sunlight, and lives in the damp basement of the school. He always wears out of date clothing, and they always seem to be very dusty. His skin is pale and grey and he mumbles to himself constantly. When he is not teaching, he is reading arcane books and locking himself into his room for days at a time. He always seems to be on hs guard, as if there is something nasty following him. The girls who know the signs suspect he may be some form of lich or zombie, and that he is afraid of death itself ...

French Mistress: Ceclie Delasinge

The dark and elegant Miss Delasinge never talks about her past, but rumours persist that she used to work for the French secret service. She has a melancholy air that many of the girls (especially the Goths) are drawn to, and talks often of old lovers who have all seem to have died in mysterious circumstances.

Re: NPCs Of Importance!

Caretaker/Groundskeeper: Angus Gradgrind

Angus Gradgrind has worked at the school for forty years, having sought refuge from the police one cold, rainy night after commiting an offence that is, in his words, "So unspeakable that even Old Nick hi'self would shudder at the tellin' of it." He has never revealed what it is he did, and the school has never asked, as he has remained in hidng at the school ever since, and has proven to be a useful asset. He has become very skilled at repairing property damage for very little money over the years. These days, he seldom sets foot into the school grounds, as he is in his late 60s and can no longer defend himself against the feral horde of First Years that infests the land outside the school buildings. His dour, curmudgeonly personality conceals an affection for the girls, and they tend to return the sentiment, if only because he knows almost everything that goes on in the school, and for bribes of whisky and rolling tobacco, is prepared to share every piece of gossip he hears.

Re: NPCs Of Importance!

Needlework and Art Mistress: Lady Jocasta Fortesque

Lady Fortesque is a recent addition to the staff, and has been at the school little over a year. She replaced the previous staff member, Mrs Cathcart, after the police finally caught up with her. At the trial, Mrs Cathcart was called 'an unspeakable menace to civilised society' by the judge during sentencing, which just goes to show what a genteel lady can achieve if she applies herself. It was estimated that she had personally stolen somewhere around three million pounds over a career of nearly thirty years, and as such had been a role model for the St Trinians student body for over a generation.

Lady Fortesque has a more modern approach to her subjects. She has proven to be a charismatic tutor, and is especially popular with the Sixth Form, as she is herself only in her mid-twenties. She was headhunted into the school by Miss Fritton, who was impressed with Jocasta's qualifications: a fashion designer, gifted painter and highly knowledgable woman in the fields of cutting-edge fashion, Impressionist painting, and modern art, she has also been investigated for fraud twice, been arrested nine times, and had one extradition request against her - all of which came to naught, as she happens to be the daughter of a High Court Judge. Her compulsory psychiatric review, undergone when she was fifteen, described her as having excessive criminal tendencies, and being almost incurably sociopathic. This has prevented her from being employed by almost anyone. St. Trinians, however, considered her to be excellent staff material, and snapped her up with voracious eagerness.

Re: NPCs Of Importance!

Chairman of the Board of Governors:'Diamond' Charlie Edwards

Diamond Charlie is in his late 20s, and is the grandson of one of St. Trinians' most illustrious characters, 'Flash' Harry Edwards. Technically, he has no official position, and as Head of the Board of Governors, he has no actual reason to be at the school all the time in person, but he nevertheless occupies the Lodge near the school gates. He serves the girls as an official go-between, advisor, and mentor in all things shady. He is one of the few indivduals, other than Miss Fritton and certain feared older girls, who can walk the grounds alone in total safety, as the First Years regard him as being the closest thing they have to a god. Certainly, he serves the pupils of all ages well, and his assistance in selling their illict goods, or bringing contraband in from the outside world (both for the general populace, or on specific orders from the Fixers) is essential to the smooth running of the school's black market economy.

Re: NPCs Of Importance!

Head Girl: Stephanie Harcourt-Fenton

The Head girl, also known as 'Stiffy' because of her ability to drink almost any other girl under the table (and not as some assume, because of her name and upper crust accent) is something of a clash of personalities. A Hockey Girl since her arrival at the school, she excels in most forms of sports and combat techniques, looks like a horse, sounds like a horse, and brays rather than laughs. She would not be out of place at Ascot, both under a hat or under a jockey. However, for all her unfortunate characteristics, she is a charismatic and utterly ruthless leader. Her tenure in the Upper Sixth Form as Head Girl has been very successful, and she has earned the respect, and fear, or many of the school's pupils. She is willing to listen to others, and does not insist that every plan has to be her own, but she does expect results. Those who succeed can be reward with her friendship. Failures often find themselves conscripted onto the Hockey Second team, which usually leads to terrible injuries when the first team bully off with them for practice.
