Re: Player Character Details

Danielle Tatham, otherwise known as Dani or D to her friends and occasionally Dexter to those who have seen her whilst engrossed in her work.  Danielle has two distinct sides to her, something that people will come to notice very quickly when they spend any time around her.  There is the Dani in the lab who is focussed, driven, possibly even a little manaical in her concentration.  This is the Dani who can spout off the chemical composition for twenty six year old scotch whisky or the formulae for all those unpronouncable additives in your shampoo without batting an eyelid.  Then there is Dani the air-head.  The girl who forgets names, birthdays, dates and even items of clothing on a few notable occasions.  Basically, if it isn't directly related to her interests or her current project then she isn't likely to remember it for very long.  Not out of any particular malice or disinterst in other people, just a very one tracked mind.  It's not unusual for her to answer a question about next week's hockey match with a list of the parts of the cellular structure of the mold found in Stilton made in north Wales.  With a bit of a nudge she can usually be steered onto the right subject though.

She is widely known to be a friendly girl, willing to talk to absolutely anyone about...well...usually about science actually.  She is willing and able to sit and listen to someone for hours, seeming to offer her full attention, but it doesn't guarantee that she will remember any of it in an hours time.  Once people get to know her she can be a little less of an airhead though, when you manage to make a mark in her world you stay there.  You might find yourself on a shelf with a jar of brains or a dissected cat fetus but at least you have a place.  You may even find out that she actually does need the glasses, she's short sighted but since most of the things she deals with are within the reach of her arm (and a scalpel), it's not too much of a problem.

Dani's interests are in the realm of finding out what makes things tick, generally by taking them apart.  She is fairly fond of animals, but once they're dead she doesn't see why she shouldn't dissect them in the interests of learning.  Her pets when she was younger lived happy lives but were more likely to end up in a jar of formaldehyde after their passing than buried in a shoe box in the back garden.  The latest idea to catch her imagination is that of summoning a suitable demon to dissect - after all, they should be able to heal anything she does eventually so it's not too much of an inconvenience.  Then the potential to adapt humans with something a little more. Maybe not a sensible pursuit but the greatest scientists never let mere common sense stand in their way.  The research has left her with not inconsequential abilities as a witch however.  She occasionally hangs out with the goth crowd, definitely goth and not the emos, she's way too perky for them.  The final feather in her cap is a fairly minor skill with needlework - enough to let her sew on her own buttons or pick the lock to the chemicals cabinet.  Outside of school work she is a bit of an anime geek, prefering cyborg, magic (but not generally magical girl) and cyberpunk type settings which she often refers to as 'inspiration'.  People have expressed confusion at her interest in magic given her obvious scientific facination, she lives by the motto that Magic is Science operated in ignorance and is determined that there is little difference between the two.

She doesn't go into great detail about her home life aside from the occasional mention that Daddy is in pharmaceuticals but she's not exactly planning on going into the family business.  In fact, she seems rather anti-drugs, refusing flat out to drink or smoke anything more offensive than simple tobacco, one might almost say that she's remarkably straight laced for a Trinan's girl.  Mother seems to be a socialite, or possibly she's from Stepford, Dani doesn't talk about her doing much more than housewifely stuff and socialising with other ladies who lunch.  She's been a St. Trinians girl since she was eight years old, her infant school suggested that she was a little withdrawn and seemed to find it hard to stay focussed, her parents apparently felt that attending a school where she could receive more personalised tuition in the areas that interested her would help.  Clearly they had read the brochures and decided that St T's, being close at hand, would be a good choice.  Although 'home' is close, no more than an hour or so in the car, she shows little inclination to be there even during the holidays, prefering to stay with friends or even at school where she can continue her search for knowledge or just run riot.

Although she has only been in the main school for a year, having not long graduated from the ranks of the wild mobs roaming the grounds, she has made a mark on the school...several in fact, mostly on the ceiling of the lab.  Still, the instances of explosions in the woods surrounding the school seem to have dropped, as do the sightings of mysterious lights near the old chapel.

Eustacia:
Like: If she says she'll do something, she comes through on it.  Good or bad.
Loathing: She's too 'shiny'.  Needs to be dumped in a vat of something goopy to bring her back down to earth.

Nikki:
Like: The girl is a total chameleon, it's amazing, and she doesn't need to get hammered to have fun.
Loathing: She's a yank isn't she, do I need a reason? Worse than that, she's a posh yank who STILL can't pronounce aluminium properly.

Vanda:
Like: A damn good sort for a prefect, she hasn't forgotten her roots and she's awesome (literally) when it comes to slinging magic around.  I'd want her in my circle.
Loathing: Aside from being a refugee from Gormenghast? Do you have any idea how many of my experiments have ended up down the drain or worse because she has decided it's time to 'practice' on that bloody organ? The buzz cut last year wasn't for fun you know!

Emma:
Like: A great person to chat to about theoretical science, she has some really interesting ideas once you tempt her out of her shell.
Dislike: She's just so nice.  And, unlike her cousin it seems real.  How do you DEAL with someone like that?

Angharad:
Like: Great if you need to know something quickly and don't have time to spend hours on google, even better if you need to get the powers that be off your back.  I mean, that arson charge was pure fabrication anyway but...
Loathing: Sorry who?  You don't notice her half the time, she sits there collecting everyone's little secrets on that laptop of hers.  I'm half waiting for the day we all graduate and the blackmail starts.

Re: Player Character Details

Lady Eustacia Mink-Critchley is the only daughter of the 7th Earl of Barchester. The Earl is now an old, senile man who spends half his time wandering about his large house muttering to his vast collection of orchids and cacti. He hasn't the faintest idea that the school his daughter attends has such an awful reputation, despite it being only a few miles from his ancestral seat. His wife, however, was a young gold-digger who dazzled him with her looks and manipulated the silly old fool into marriage. She was a St. Trinians girl herself, and insisted that their daughter be sent there to receive a proper education in the ways of the world - lying, cheating, stealing and corruption.

Eustacia survived her early years on her looks, her wits, and her ability to read people like an open book. She also had a viscious streak a mile wide, and despite never excelling at games or combat, she survived the feral First Year mob by learning how to move with the trends, learn everyone's gossip, and manipulate girls with weaker personalities to be her playthings. Now in the Sixth Form, she continues to do this, and it serves her well. Once she escaped the wild First Year baptism of fire, she smartened herself up, sychophantically ingratiated herself to all the teachers, and established herself as the leader of as bitchier a band of adolescent females as you could ever hope to avoid meeting. They set the trends for the other girls at the school. If they're wearing green socks, you'd better get some too or risk derision whenever you walk the corridors. You're not up on what was in Heat magazine last week? You don't know what Wills and Kate did yesterday? Then you're not worthy, and if they find out, chances are you'll be added to this week's list of victims, who will be sneered at whenever possible.

Strangely, Eustacia doesn't often participate in this tormenting of the other girls. Her minions indulge in it endlessly, and she is happy to give them new trends to exploit, but Eustacia knows that it is sensible not to make too many enemies, so she rises above that sort of behaviour, flutters those lovely long eyelashes, and her indiscretions get forgiven and forgotten. But those who do attract her wrath usually end up being bullied for weeks, or even months, as she encourages her gaggle of teenage hags to turn on them with the sort of spiteful enthusiasm that only teenage girls know how to produce.

As a friend, Eustacia is an invaluable asset. She is a master manipulator, as well as an expert in disguise, accent reproduction, and psychology. She's capable of playing with the minds of others to an expert level, and is quite happy to scam tickets to a gig, entry to an exclusive club, or free drinks and meals out of cute men both for herself, and for her friends. A night out with Eustacia can often be like riding the gravy train, and if things go to hell in a handbasket, or fights break out, or someone objects when one of the girls steals his wallet, Eustacia simply turns on the charm and talks the party out of trouble. This ability to use the social scene like her own plaything makes her a very popular girl, and she is never short of girls willing to slip her a bribe or two if she is planning a night out in London's West End.

Eustacia shows very little interest in science or physical sport, focussing her academic interests on areas that give her a better edge in her already perfect little world. Drama and English feature high on her list of interests, along with Social Studies and Current Affairs. She also pays attention to History classes. She has a knack for working with numbers, and can often be found relieving the Fourth Years of their pocket money (or stolen loot) over a card table. Her rather expensive tastes are funded by her gambling, and her successful portfolio of stocks, which she adjusts on a daily basis in order to get the best possible return on her investments.

To summarise: she's a devious, manipulative girl who uses her charming manners and innocent looks to freeload, get her own way, and make less astute girls dance to her tune, entirely for her own personal amusement. She gets away with it by rewarding her friends very generously, but she persecutes her enemies with equal vigour. She sits like a spider in the middle of a sordid little web, and woe betide the fly that gets caught there!

Best Friend: Emma McConnell. Family is family! And we of the landed gentry must stick together. Besides, I know her. It's much easier to manipulate her than others.

Rival: Nikki Hayward. "She comes over here from America, of all places, and then tries to teach us about what we do best! I certainly won't hold back about putting her nose out of joint if she tries to teach me how to suck eggs! I'm a Viscountess, for god's sake! There's nothing she can teach me!"

Angharad

Like: Oh she's useful, especially when it comes to the internet. Good person to talk to, especially when it comes to adjusting a share portfolio. Someone else's, for that matter...
Loathing: Takes no interest in the world beyond her screen. She needs to learn to unplug and visit reality. That way she might be a little less tedious.

Danielle
Like: She may be a stinky scientist, but she's game for anything if it gets her imagination going. That's both fun, and extremely useful. She can do things to ordinary cosmetics that can literally blow your eyebrows off. Could be useful!
Loathing: Can't she keep her mind on anything? The way she is so airheaded drives me up the wall sometimes.

Nikki
Like: She's quite good with make-up, I'll give her that. I'm sure I could be the same, if I didn't have better things to be doing.

Viridia

Like: "We have a lot of similar interests. She's ruthless, and I like that. She's very clever, devious, and not above a little dark arcane chanting to get what she wants. I think we should work together more often. We could make a fortune."
Loathing: She comes over as a bit of a goody two shoes. Prefect's badge this, and Prefect's badge that... she was so much more fun when she wasn't always polishing her metaphorical authority.

Re: Player Character Details

>>FOR PUBLIC EYES<<
>>REDACTED<<
>>APPROVED FOR GENERAL RELEASE<<

Nikki is, for the most part, a "typical" teenage girl - if any teenage girl can be described as typical. She is still adjusting to life as a British Schoolgirl, but seems to take to the idea of uniformity and conformity. Not that she's ever particularly uniform or conformed, mind, it just seems that she manages to take the idea (and the natural rebellion) more in stride than most outsiders would be able to. Things are done quite a bit differently in America - even in Private Schools - but there's something of a worldly air to young Ms. Hayward that is unusual for girls of her age and upbringing.

For all that is unusual about Nikki, there is much that is quite normal and natural. She likes most music and is rarely far from her cell phone or tablet. She's outgoing, well-mannered and friendly but not overly so. Likewise, she can be introverted, moody and surly. Whether these changes of outlook are contrived or natural, though, is difficult to say.

Her appearance is capable of wild fluctuations, from hair color to hair style and, even, inexplicably, length. Whether this is achieved through extensions, wigs, weaves or magic, no one is really sure. Additionally, she's capable of, through application of makeup and manner of dress, to appear either somewhat older or somewhat younger than her actual age.

Typically, however, she favors punk/goth-esque styles, with semi-dyed hair, black nails and fishnet, rubber and leather accouterments (where allowed by the dress code). She doesn't usually dress either overly slutty or prudish, however, it's not unusual for her to be wearing layers of clothes that can either be added, removed or "adjusted" to formulate a new look for whatever appearance she might desire, from innocent Forth Form to seductive Upper Sixth form and anything in between.

Nikki was a much-loved and well-cared-for only child of parents who fought too hard for the cause of good in the world. Her father was a diplomat for the United Nations, her mother a District Attorney in NYC. Both were quite successful at their jobs, which made them quite unpopular with the less-savory elements they typically dealt with. Nikki isn't sure which unsavory element got to her parents, but one of them did and the end result was that both of her parents wound up missing and presumed dead. Somewhere in the shuffle of police, attorneys, representatives and social workers, however, young Nichole found herself lost in the system, and, eventually, out on the streets.

She spent two very difficult, very dangerous years on the street before she was spotted by a recruiter for Mrs. Carter's school. Luc was charming, handsome, and, of course, quite gay. She trusted him immediately, despite the nature she'd fostered over the past two years, and he took her to meet Mrs. Carter. She passed Carter's tests, of course, and found herself enrolled in the "World Studies" curriculum at the school. She and Luc became fast friends, though he was much older than she, of course, and she also managed to make a fair number of friends at the school as well - mostly due to her ability to blend in with nearly every clique (she even managed to make "Fetch" happen, despite being repeatedly told otherwise).

Thanks to her lineage, and the rough and tumble time she spent studying at the school of Hard Knocks, Nikki excelled at her classwork, both curricular and extra-curricular, and was eventually chosen for the exchange program at St. Trinian's.

Through a joint partnership with the U.K.-based St. Trinian's School For Young Ladies, the most promising students of Mrs. Carter's are sent in an Exchange Program. Girls from St. Trinian's learn poise and class, refinement and resolve, and a girl that survives St. Trinian's is a girl well equipped to handle anything the real world throws at her.

From the Digital Diary of Nichole Hayward:

  • Likes: "I like that Dani is really trying to be her own self. Find her own way. For all their talk about rebellion, St. Trinian's girls are really overly-concerned about fitting in, at least within their own cliques. Dani's seems to be an amalgam of all the cliques, but she manages to make it her own."
  • Loathings: "It's not so bad that she smokes, it's that she forgets she's smoking. I swear, I've got more than a couple jumpers ruined from pinhole burns from her forgotten ashes."

  • Loathings: "... Eustacia's got her hand so far up her ass that she's not really capable of being anything more than Staci's puppet. If she can separate herself from Staci's shadow, she can probably really shine on her own. Probably."

Vanda Markham
  • Likes: "She's like ... I don't know, Spider-Man. Or Venom. She's creepy good at sneaking and stealthing and I really need to get some pointers from her, but, well ..."
  • Loathings: "... she's your typical over-the-top Goth. I mean, really! Cliche much? It's like she took a class. Goth 101 or something."

Viridia Bowman
  • Likes: "She's pretty much a spider in the middle of a huge web, connected to all the little webs all over the campus. She's like Varys. But with better fashion sense ... same number of balls, though. She has the connections to make things move, even in spite of some of the other cliques."
  • Loathings: "She snores. I mean really snores. I can hear her even in my room. She denies it, of course, but one night it shook the picture of my parents off the wall. I'm not sure how the other girls sleep through it!"

Re: Player Character Details

Viridia is among the fifth generation of the Bowman family to attend St Trinians although she is the first prefect in the family.

Viridia grew up in a smallish house in Essex going by the name of Viri Bloggs (her adopted father's name, she ditched it for her legal name as soon as she joined the school).  In appearance she's clearly part arab despite both her parents being white anglo-saxons but its not something she wishes to discuss.

She was fairly withdrawn during the first year and a half of her time at St Trinians only coming out of her shell in the second half of her second year when she started her current inexorable procession towards a prefects badge which she achieved early in the third year.

During the third year most of her potential rivals for the prefect's badge underwent one accident after another.  One managed to use the contents of her lingerie drawer in an experimental firebomb rather than the waxed paper she should have used.  One managed to fill a batch of water balloons with acid and dissolved quite a bit of her bed.  Another's still project somehow managed to produce pure water for a week.  In the meantime teams led by Viridia simply worked extremely efficiently and she was able to gather a functional group around herself.

She became officially acknowledged as a prefect during the great cake run.  A group she was involved with had contracted to supply cakes with certain halogens inside to a local group of youths and some of her rivals realised that she might be behind the "bad luck" they had been experiencing and stole her group's mushrooms.  Viridia responded definitively.  Staging a commando raid on the French room she stole the long-touched French language tapes of 'O' levels past and used a simple pipe to send multiple versions at loud volume into the room of the girls who had stolen the mushrooms.  Unable to withstand the "plume de ma tante" played at hideous volumes in staccato stereo the girls dispatched a group to deal with the assault.  Following a quick tripwire and a flight of stairs (and quite a bit of rope later) she obtained a location for the mushrooms and then having turned off the fuses at the breaker box she did a run through the pitch darkness of the room (the shutters having been raised to stop entrance by the window) and reclaimed the mushrooms and the cakes were subsequently provided as promised.

She has a small allowance from her mother which she mostly spends on a small amount of high quality whisky which she uses both as a way of finding potential in the younger grades and as a bribe for the teachers.  Anyone finding her stash and getting away with it has considerable bragging rights and Viridia is known to be fair enough that anyone who steals from her once is allowed to get away with it as long as they own up when identified.  Stealing from her a second time is ill-advised.

Louise Sutton stole from Viridia no less than three times after having been warned and Viridia's response was somewhat typical of her.  Instead of trying to directly oppose Louise she entered a competition for fiction writers on her behalf and obtained the prize for best composition (OK she used some help to get the prize).  She then made sure that the Goth was requested by the headmistress to stand up and read her successful work on the delights of looking after puppies to her form.  Louise left the school shortly thereafter.

She rarely does anything herself if she can avoid it preferring to plan and use more skilled individuals to actually do the work.  Fortunately for her her plans often work!  Viridia is not massively physical as a person but does her share in games.  Where she excels is in forgery and in getting others to do her bidding.

She runs the clique groups she works with as a mutual support society.  Think pretty much a standard mafia type set-up.  She's boss but she expects those in her circle to support each other even outside of their core group and she's downright nasty to anyone who doesn't.

Saying she's ruthless isn't all of it, she's more extremely determined and extremely devious.  Her approach tends to the subtle and thus more dangerous.  She always prefers to destroy reputations rather than physically harm someone.  She can always find just the right trick despite her lack of knowledge.  Finding a girl who can tell her which chemicals to swap to create an unplanned explosion in the science lab and then setting the label on the swapped bottle to fall off in the explosion is an approach she might use (it makes it look like the victim made a mistake).

She's quite happy to involve families in her plans and certainly not above spreading malicious rumors when it suits.  On the other hand she is also quite happy to provide forged documents when needed and wrote about half of the previous classes recommendations to University (there were only five required).   She is also quite proficient with various forms of blackmail (photos taken out of context is a particular favorite).

She has the following relations with other cliques

Fixer - neutral.  The skillsets are similar though but Viridia doesn't bring much to a Fixer and a Fixer brings little to her.

Goth/Emo - close, presumably she has a coven of some sort so this is probably her "home" clique outside the prefects as I imagine all prefects come up through another clique.

Hockey Girl - not close but a reasonable mutual relationship, basically neutral as they will mostly be aligned with Stiffy.  They're easily manipulatable to do things and a useful source of muscle!

Sweetheart - antagonistic, very similar to her methods in some ways and cuter while doing it!

Nerd/Geek - Neutral, neither side has that much interest in the other

Scientist - Fairly close, she's a good salesperson and that's useful to a scientist

Coquette - fairly close, lots of experience from dealing with such.  Understands them and they're useful tools in a lot of ways.

Danielle
Likes : She's at least willing to listen about magic and that's rare for a scientist.  If only she would stop ****** experimenting with it.  One wing in three years is quite enough!
Loathes : Science is both boring and quite frankly irrelevant.  What would the boys do if we took a serious interest in it?  Start polishing their nails?

Eustacia
Likes : She can plot well enough and its always interesting to watch someone in the cliques playing at being a prefect without wanting to be one.  She's a useful foil.
Loathes : Being a Viscountess in the 21st century is no more distinguished than being a left handed snooker player.  We are what we achieve, no more no less.

Nikki
Likes : She's brave, got spunk or however the americans say it.  She needs to learn a bit more vengefulness though.
Loathes : She still hasn't worked out I'm playing a snoring track in the room next to hers.  Good god, does she think I actually sleep with other girls?

Angharad
Likes : Geeks are useful if a bit temperamental when one points out they were supposed to be hacking the bank rather than composing a four page elegy on its firewall thingy.

Re: Player Character Details

To see her, Emma is the vision of any student of a public institute that only accepts a very exclusive few; she’s bright eyed, immaculately dressed, modestly adorned and most often times subscribes to the ‘seen and not heard’ philosophy. Her carriage and conduct betray her noble lineage; but she prefers to leave formalities by the wayside.

In addition to being a shy introvert, she’s is extremely, painfully polite and always seems to have a doe-eyed romantic view of the world around her. And while many can see a familial likeness to her cousin, Eustacia, that is where most of the similarities end. And while she doesn’t float between the various cliques with the same ease and grace as her cousin, she has found common interests with the Scientists; though they tend to be an explosive lot (quite literally). Yet, their fascination with how things work, especially anatomy and physiology, helps her overcome her aversion to the extreme conditions they choose to exist in. Those who get to know her a little more intimately, quickly become aware of her macabre fascination (bordering obsession) on all things associated with torture and death. This underlying interest permeates everything she does, and when experienced with her genuine pleasantness, leaves most people she engages with the heebie-jeebies. It's generally enough to keep most people from maliciously remarking on her unique nature or foolishly acting against her. And those who don’t listen to their intuition and decide to tempt fate, end up regretting it. That is, if they survive retribution.

Her interests are varied, but are split between domesticity and mortality. She excels in whipping up any concoction; be it a five-course gourmet meal, a devilish potion or deadly elixir. If a person is lucky or she’s feeling particularly benevolent, antidotes are also created. Despite her shy nature, she has shown a great affinity for the darker components in the Leadership curriculum. This is likely due to her over-zealous interest in the more evil aspects of human nature.  She takes pride in her work, even if it is mostly theoretical, spending hours researching ancient techniques and seeking ways to improve through ingenuity and creativity.

Emma followed her older cousin’s footsteps and enrolled in St. Trinians School For Young Ladies. It was believed that there she would thrive, mastering all the necessary skills to be a proper Lady. She survived the horrors of First Year rather uneventfully and was more than a little pleased that Eustacia didn't need to rush to her rescue. That would have been beyond humiliating. She simply kept her head down, focused on her studies and politely convinced those more inclined towards barbarous acts that it was not in their best interest, especially if they had a pressing desire to continue their existence on this mortal plane. Rather, it was far more prudent to engage her in with only the most decorous of proprieties. Now, in her Fifth Form, Emma has found her own path and seems to be comfortable in her own anachronistic ways. She finds the bullying of others for the sake of bullying distasteful and does not willingly participate; but, object lessons are vital to the tutelage of future Trinian ladies. Such endeavors Emma pursues with enthusiastic gusto.

Eustacia is the only one that truly gets away with referring to her as “Emmy”. She will tolerate it from others, but she has been known to correct people she does not feel are on intimate enough terms with her. Often with a pointed and very uncomfortable gaze.

Best Friend: Eustacia Mink-Critchley. She is Yang to my Yin.

Rival: Nikki Hayward. Does she really have to be perfect in every way?

Danielle Tatham
Likes: She's resourceful and makes the most delightful concoctions. She's practically a culinary genius!
Loathings: She's terribly messy/untidy/unkempt. It's a shame that such a beautiful mind doesn't have enough self respect to care for how she presents herself to the world.

Angharad Probert
Likes: She's brilliant and shy; as a proper lady should conduct herself. Let those around her completely underestimate her qualities...

Loathings: Must she be completely plugged-in all the time? There is a world beyond the Internet. Does she even know what a flower is, let alone that she should stop and enjoy one?

Viridia Bowman
Likes: Viridia is someone who doesn't allow pesky obstacles (including people) to keep her from achieving her goals. Sometimes eliminating the competition is exactly that. That level of determination and drive is something to be respected.

Loathings: There's a thin line between Leadership and being a Bossy Witch. Unfortunately, poor Viridia stomps over that line like an Ox in a China shop. Being Prefect is a privilege, not a right.

Vanda Markham
Likes: She's a kindred spirit with a passion for history and lore. That she seems to hold a similar fascination for herbs and torture devices only enhances her appeal.

Dislikes: I never would have believed that someone so keen on the shadows would prefer to be in the limelight. Her unique qualities would be better utilized were she not playing petty despot with the First Years.

Re: Player Character Details

What do you lot know about me? Apart from me being the one who seems glued to her laptop at all times in all places that is...

To start with, I'm Welsh. It's not just the funny name (which means 'Beloved' by the way), I have a bit of an accent and sometimes mutter in Y Iaith Cymraeg, that is, Welsh.

To look at, I am quite small. Short and thin and dark of hair and eye. I'm full of energy, the lively almost sparking sort, and am usually either in vigorous motion or completely still. Not that you ever find me near anything remotely resembling a sports field. Ugh. My motion has purpose, intent... and ceases once that purpose has been accomplished. I don't 'customise' my uniform as much as most girls do, and am quite neat and tidy.

I am not the most talkative of people, but when I do have something to say, it kind of spurts out as if the words are in a hurry. Most of the time I am quiet, observing what is going on around me (and you thought I only paid attention to the screen of my laptop, didn't you?). Then I remember it, for later use, filing it all away. I'm intensely curious, too... even about things that I'm not that interested in. You never know when it will come in useful, after all.

Best Friend: Danielle Tatum. She has the same approach to her studies in the laboratory as I do to the datasphere.

Rival: Viridia Bowman. It's all assumption and arrogance and if there's any substance to back that up she cannot be bothered to share it. It's her attitude that rubs me the wrong way, like she thinks she's due respect without the need to actually earn it.

Emma McConnell
Likes: She's plain nice!
Dislikes: She's probably too nice.

Eustacia Mink-Crichley
Likes: She's good at twisting things to advantage.
Dislikes: But it always is her advantage, with no regard to anyone else.

Nikki Hayward
Likes: Tough as nails under a gorgeous exterior.
Dislikes: She's American! Need I say more?

Vanda Markham
Likes: She gathers arcane knowledge with the same enthusiasm I gather real world information.
Dislikes: Manipulative little hussy.

Re: Player Character Details

Vanda is your archetypal Goth. She was brought up with it. Her hair is long and black, so are her clothes.

One of her prized possessions, usually kept on her belt, is a wicked-looking silver ritual knife. Blood of a virgin is an ingredient that may be a rare commodity in the Upper School, but there are often plenty of first years hanging around in the corridors to fuel one's potions.

The shapeless black shoulder bag that generally hangs down her back carries, amongst the more usual contents, a number of bottles, phials, and randomly unwholesome ingredients, and there are usually a couple of books, old ones, written in Latin, one of which is her own Book of Shadows.

Anyone who is overly curious about her bag's contents should beware, however. Materials absorb potions nicely. The last fourth former to poke light fingers inside it brought them out sprouting branches!

Vanda is currently working on her Prefect Skills. She didn't get her prefectship by crawling to the staff, she got it by having the right credentials. Not least of which is strong leadership.

She is the leader of a coven of Goths whose arcane dabblings have caused more than a little trouble in the past, but which now create more protection for the school than damage to it. Consequently, if anyone needs a few extra bodies at a ritual, Vanda is your go-to girl.

Goths are often on the receiving end of bullying, but by the time Vanda and her coven had reached Upper School, enough of the harridans had succumbed to plagues of boils, warts, lice and things that go bump in the night, that they turned their vicious attentions in other directions as a matter of self-preservation.

Vanda often has something of a superior attitude, but those in the know recognize the likely origins of megalomania and wisely accept it. She can be a little distant and other-worldly, but since she walks in both worlds, that should hardly come as a surprise, either. Vanda seems mellower when you get to know her, and can be quite friendly if your interest is potions and arcane Latin texts.

Her family are not quite as weird as the Addams Family, but Vanda's talents are by no means unique amongst them - the rest of the family sheep are just as black as she is. In fact, Vanda's mother is not only an alumna of St T, she was one of the founders of the Goth clique.

Vanda's primary interests seem to be Religious Studies and Home Economics, and any combination of the two, but students who have been in the grounds late at night, returning from places they had no business to be in the first place, claim to have seen a shadow flitting around the track like a bat caught in a mistral. They also claim to have seen her walking up the walls of the sports pavilion and doing handstands on the roof. But then, there's no saying what they had imbibed before witnessing these unlikely visions, is there?

Oh, and lest we forget, Vanda is a St Trinians girl. If she runs out of potions, she can always use her charms...

Best Friend: Danielle. She makes a darn good potion. Got to admire that!
Rival: Emma. Calls herself a Goth? Pah!

Nikki:
Likes: Making a valiant effort to blend in.
Dislikes: Over paid, over sexed and over here.

Angharad:
Likes: Helpful little puppy.
Dislikes: Oh, those infernal machines!

Eustacia:
Likes: She’s got what it takes. A proper little madam.
Dislikes: And she knows it.
