"I have found a service for transport to the edge of the shallow area you are talking about.  It seams there is transport services familiar with the area and experienced with guiding people who wish to see this reams incarnation. Flat fee of 250,000 credits for transport guidance."

Peter meekly raises a hand.

"I don't suppose you know anyone both wealthy and in need of specialized medical assistance? If not, I'm sure these people will need medical assistance after they do whatever job you have in mind for them."

Re: CHAPTER 2 - A Pirates Life for Me?

Metal on metal could be heard again, though this time the steps were much lighter than those of Solan. A woman appeared around a bend in time to hear the latter half of the conversation, and she approached the gathering. The stranger looked for all the world as though she had stepped from the pages of some Middle Ages novel, from her dress to her sword and even the mannerisms she knew from the look of the stiff armed salute she gave the others. A tiny red dragon was perched on her left shoulder, and puffed minute threads of smoke as it cautiously studied the company before it. The human spoke only to the Brother and Doctor.

"Hail and well met, gentle Sirs! I heard you speak of work, and as I myself find need of coin of this realm, I ask that you allow me along on a noble quest to gain it with you. I see from your living statue and bird creature that you must be powerful wizards indeed, and I bow to your great wisdom."

This being said, she did just that; the stranger dropped to one knee, and bowed her head to the monk and doctor.

"Welcome, but I am no wizard. I am just a monk of the akashic order. This is my friend Peter." he said with a bit of confusion. "Please don't bow."

"And these are not our bird creature or living statue, they are Solan and Raven." he said looking at his wine bottle with concern, "Only allies and friends here."

He looked to the doctor to confirm this was not a hallucination caused by bad brew.

Peter's eyes widen but his expression doesn't change.

"Yes, well. Welcome. Hail, rather. What is it exactly that you do? Perhaps medieval reenactment. Heh. Bad joke. I'm guessing you don't have any medical qualifications, so I'll leave it to the boys here to determine martial capability. Assuming we need someone with martial capability. You see, we're still trying to figure out the, er, quest."

Re: CHAPTER 2 - A Pirates Life for Me?

Raven blinked at the reference of himself as a bird creature and the two more normal looking folks as wizards. Then he grinned.

"Sorry girly, no magick made me this way, I just pulled my pud one time too many. My momma told me I'd go blind, but left this part out. If she'd warned me, I might have just gotten a girlfriend."

Devalanna gave a nod to the two men, then rose and turned first to face Raven. She extended her right arm toward him, and if he accepted the offer she would grasp his wrist.

Re: CHAPTER 2 - A Pirates Life for Me?

Raven noticed Solan's hand near his blaster, and held up the palm of a hand to the cyborg.

"Whoa hos! We finally get a cute chick in this group, and you're first thought is to shoot her? I gotta tell you bud, it ain't mine."

Raven turned to the woman as she spoke, and did indeed not only accept her gesture but gripped her wrist in kind. He didn't really understand why they were doing this, but he figured he'd follow by example. For now, anyway. While he was doing this, a thought occurred to him and he spoke out loud to the others.

"Hey! The doc here may have just hit on a solution to our money trouble. I've been in a number of ports, and if you know where to look for it you can usually find underground fighting. We've got a Knight here, an ex-Marine, a Kung Fu Monk, and a war machine. We could each enter a match, then bet the prize money on the next one of us who fights. I'm not sure we'd get all the credits we need that way, but it'd at least make a dent I'm sure."

Laughs a bit more, "Don't worry, Solan wouldn't harm her I am sure. I trust that he is just being understandably cautious. Did you see what happened in the station, being approached by strangers at this time should be met with a level of caution."

Looks to Raven, "Leave me out of that, I am a pacifist. I will not fight unless it is to defend. If you wish to enter a tournament or such thing, I shall meet with you later."

Turns to Devalanna, "What might we call you, Knight. And if you wish to follow us on our, quest. Well I have to warn you it is related to the events that you may have seen in the news."

"I would not enter a fight unless I knew all my oppenents strengths and weakness and the battle field is set up to my advantage". Says Solan keeping his hand on his blaster.

"Of corse their are times when that isn't possible but i do prefer to have all statitics and stratagies planned in advance".

He looks at the group: "We need money, well I think body guard duty would suit us well".

Re: CHAPTER 2 - A Pirates Life for Me?

The woman before them released Raven's wrist, and turned sharply on her armored heel to once more face the monk. She brought her right gauntlet up, and banged it on her breast plate a little under the left shoulder.

"Forgive my rudeness, good Sir! I am Lady Devalanna La’Moordahay, of the Order of the Myst Ryders. As for news, I have heard none nor have I spied a single crier since I left my Clan's island. What news is it of which you speak?"

Re: CHAPTER 2 - A Pirates Life for Me?

Raven let go of the woman in turn, then directed his attentions to Solan.

"OK, first of all, if you want to have the advantage you don't go grabbing for your gun in full sight of an unknown. By doing that, you lose the element of surprise, and you put them on the defensive. Also, with the strange way this lady is dressed and acts, she may very well be a distraction which means the real threat may well come from behind you, while you're staring at her. Also, keep your hand off your weapon when your target is standing next to me. I do not care to be in the line of fire if you miss, or have myself used as a shield if you're not fast enough. Also, you can see I'm armed, and I'm right next to her so I most likely wouldn't miss if something happened. You need to trust in your team mates, this isn't a solo mission for you anymore, buddy boy. You're part of a group now, and you've already had to trust me twice to save your metallic bacon so I think you can go out on a limb a third time.

"Bodyguard work is all well and good, but if I can get the two of us into a match, the purse might be more than we could get in a single job. More over, if you take your prize money and bet it on me, and I win, you get double that amount, and so on. It's something to think about gear head."

The prospect of arena fighting feels particularly distasteful to Peter. It shows on his face. He grimaces, then silently agrees with Huoshui on the subject.

Peter turns his attention back to Devalanna.

"Where is your island, if you don't mind me asking? Is everyone there a, er, like you? I mean, warriors and honorable and, well, you know."

Re: CHAPTER 2 - A Pirates Life for Me?

"Well the latest news isn't all good, death and destruction mostly but what I fear is worse. To put it in various forms, the horsemen are riding, the wheel has turned, the wolf is ready to eat the moon and well I believe the end times are back. We missed it last time thanks to the star hitting planet but this time I think we won't be as lucky." he said with a smile.

Cracked the bottle open took a large swig from it and continued "There is a man I want to stop. I believe that he is behind what happened at the station. He has caused so much death, and I believe this is only the beginning. That is what I plan for any who will follow."

Re: CHAPTER 2 - A Pirates Life for Me?

Devalanna addressed Peter first.

"I hail from Ganymede, and yes all whom resided on our island were of the Myst Ryder Tradition. We were trained from birth, and when we were deemed worthy enough we undertook a grand Quest to prove ourselves and were then seen in the eyes of our others as full Myst Ryders."

Next she spoke to the monk, though she could not help but laugh when she thought of what he said.

"The end times? It could not possibly be so, good man. For the Savior Galahad had not come from Heaven with his vast army to cleanse from all existence evil and take the just and noble into his ranks to bare back with him. Horsemen are only as good as the beasts they ride and the weapons they carry, I will match my blade to theirs any day. On my trip among the stars I have seen many moons, so care I not if a wolf eats one. And of course the wheel turns, for is that not the very purpose of wheels, to turn?

"As for your quest, stopping evil is always a noble cause and the calling of my honored blood demands no less."

"Ah, Ganymede. Quite a big moon. I can't speak as to the greatness of our quest, but these, ah, 'knights' are most excellent. As for stopping evil, well, Solan doesn't let much get in his way," he says, tipping back and forth as he speaks.

Raven didn't in the least seem bothered by Solan's response to him, though he did take a step toward the big man.

"If you did your work worth half a crap, I wouldn't have to tell you, Mister Merc. I was in command of actual soldiers and not just some wanna be like you, and I promise you none of my men would have made such stupid, rookie mistakes. If you've got a problem with my view point, Mister Macho, how about you stop hiding behind that blaster and you face me fist to fist, that is if there's enough man left in you to do that."

Re: CHAPTER 2 - A Pirates Life for Me?

Devalanna could tell from the tones of voice used that trouble was brewing between her quest companions. She was still near Raven, so she walked backward until she was between the two beings with her empty hands outstretched and palms up.

"Please Good Gentles, I beg of you! Cease your hostilities! We are companions now, and Oath-bound to each other! We must rely on one another for our safety, and no bad blood should exist between us or else our enemies have won!"

She looked imploringly at the monk.

"Wise tree, you speak that you are a man of peace. Can you not in your wisdom stop violence from tearing apart our bond?"

Re: CHAPTER 2 - A Pirates Life for Me?

Huoshui laughed lightly at what he hoped was friendly banter between Solan and Raven.

Turned to Peter "Apprenticed is such a strong word. I only recently left my own master." he said with some sadness, but it was true. His master had just told him to leave his side.

Turned to Devalanna, "Ganymede? Then we are closer than once thoughts. That too is my home world but we can talk of home later." Smiled, "That I am, A man of peace."

Stepping to Solan and Raven, "I may not be as wise as my former master, I may not know the pasts that either of you two have. Now please gentlemen, I cannot say that a friendly spar would be inappropriate. Kairos and myself fought when we first met but what you speak of is not in terms of friend or allies."

Turns to Solan, "Solan, my friend. We have know each other but a short time, you are a good man and I know you can rise above your disagreements with Raven for the job at hand."

Turn to Raven, "Raven, Solan is cautious for a reasonable reason. We have just gotten back from many battles on that station, we do not need harsh words crossed. We shall talk and be calm."

Turns to the group, "We are allies, all of us from very different backgrounds and creeds. I shall not allow pointless fighting before me or between those I call friends."
