Re: SEEKINGS - Sam Davis

Sam fell asleep in the ships provided quarters, and for the most part has a restfull sleep. She weakes though onto rolling grass planes as far as the eye can see.
With long hair and fair clothing at that.

Graham Dailey
She sits up and looks around nervously, glancing over her surroundings before inspecting herself. As she stands, her hand instinctively strays to her neck, feeling for the sharp edges she's come to expect.
The hair and clothing come as a shock, but she pushes that aside to focus on the foreign place where she's found herself.
just now

The necklass is there but it seams to  be the only familar thing to be found.... no... wait there was the bianary stars in the sky. Though it was not of her home, the sphere was not there and the star that powered it was an unfamilar sphere in the sky rather than the torus she use to see.

Graham Dailey
She turns in a slow circle, unused to the clothing, and takes in the sphere as well has her more immediate surroundings. She keeps an eye out specifically for any apparent signs of habitation or passage, in a sort of dual worry about finding something to eat and keeping away from dangerous strangers.

The grass at her waist slowly starts to wilt, spreadng outward.
Graham Dailey
She starts and backs away from the center of the wilt, trying to reach the edge.

The wilting contenues to spread outward, the plants in the middle starting to die and turn brown. As she moves new areas of wilt around her form and spread.
just now
Graham Dailey
She stops and stares, horrified. After a few moments, she runs her thumb along the edge of the leaf still clasped in her hand and kneels, smearing it on some of the withered grass to look at it more closely.

While she bleeds the cut provides no insight to the plants nature, she could not feel the paterns and her magic was not working. The ferther the wilt spread the faster it spread. At the center the brown and gray plants were braiking apart turning into flakes of rust and ash as they crumbled and blew on the winds. Soon she was the only life she could see, and the area around here was quickly growing berron of even the dead plants as they changed.
Graham Dailey
"No, no, no, no!" she cries as she falls to her knees, grabbing a handful of rust and letting it sift through her fingers. She scrabbles at the rust, trying to dig down to real soil with her hands, but only ends up getting them scraped and dirty. "Not this. Not like this. Not me. Not me. Not me..." she keeps repeating. (unless something else happens) She remains on her knees for a couple minutes, just crying, but then she takes a deep breath and stands. She wipes her eyes with her hands, leaving her face a reddish-brown mess, and slowly scans the sphere, trying to find a spot of green - any spot of green - in the brown.
just now

The landscape shifts as the familar metal plants start sprouting up around her. It's slow at first but then the ground starts to shake almost violently and large numbers of steel trees rises bursting from the ground as they twist and rise to the sky. A forest of metal was quickly forming around her.

Graham Dailey
She starts running as fast as she can through the forest, trying to get out of it, trying to avoid this nightmare again.

The number and dencity of the tree's grow, twisting roots trip her up, rising trunks block her way, and leavy vines cut at her ankles.
Graham Dailey
She gets back up and keeps running the first few times, but eventually stops. She slowly gets to her feet, lips clenched, fists white and trempling at her sides. Her clothes are torn and her hair is a mess, but she brushes it out of her face and looks around at the forest with a scowl. Her eyes rest on one of the vines that had cut her as she ran past, and her blood still dripping from its leaves. "You wanna do this? Fine." She slowly walks over to it, working up the courage necessary to follow through with her plan. Finally she reaches the vine and, taking a deep breath, she reaches down and slashes her forearm across it, and her other forearm on other leaves, and her calves on other parts, continuing until the vine is almost drenched in her blood (her clothes are a lost cause at this point). Shaking somewhat, she points down at it and begins speaking rhythmically, with a slight melody coming in eventually, but for anyone who made the distinction, it would probably be called chanting, not singing.

"You wanna keep me here? Fine.
But I am not your prisoner.
You want my blood? Go ahead.
But I am not your slave.

But if you choose to keep me
No more will you take prisoners
And I hope my blood sates you
For no more shall you have.

For no more shall you have.
For no more shall you have.
For NO MORE SHALL YOU HAVE!"

(In case it's not otherwise obvious, the goal here is to reverse the change and make this into a normal plant using matter and life and i guess prime if that's important. I know she doesn't have the spheres to do it and I know her magic didn't work earlier, but that's... what she's doing.)

The blood loss quickly sets in and the world fades as vines twist and blood pools. Things fade into darkness but warmth instead of cold, and she soon comes too again, groggness and pain light blinding her from a window. Voices, voices she could not make out and blury skies. Slowly things came into focus and out the metal-wood window beside her bed she saw the skys of the Cop as she remembered them. "-suffer a wich to live." she hurd. "We can't just let her die though." "What would you have us do, banish her... a woman will not last outside our lands."

Graham Dailey
She squints as she awakes, trying to comprehend the words she's hearing. When she does, though, she's awake in an instant, jerking up to a sitting position to make out where she is.

She was in her home, her parents were there speaking on her behaf but seamed like every important person but the seeker was there and they all seamed to ether want her thrown out of town, or killed in one way or another. Most popular seamd to be tied to the cursed tree and burned.
Graham Dailey
/I run and I run and the more I run the closer I get to here/, she realizes. /I can't escape it. I have to face it./ She stands, almost falls, and grips the windowsill to steady herself. /Deep breath. There we go. You can do this./ She steps to the door and, with one more deep breath, opens it. She strides out among the clamoring group, hoping the shock of her sudden appearance will keep them quiet and still long enough for her to talk.

They quite for a moment looking to her only one to say anything before she gets a chance to speek is her mom with a simple "hunney..."
Graham Dailey
"So you claim I'm a witch, hm? Raise your hand, everyone who thinks I'm a witch. Go on."
Graham Dailey
/Please let this work please let this work please let this work/
10 mins ago

None of them raise there hand, they seam a little intemidated, but they do speak out with coments like 'she will bring doom apon us'  and 'look how the plants react to her' or 'her preasence will drive them into a frenzy' or the like.
Graham Dailey
"Ah. Then you're all wrong. I am a witch. A user of magic. And in that way, I am like the one who brought the Curse. That's what you were all thinking, wasn't it? That I'm like him? And in a way I am. But hasn't the Speaker taught us all of the ancient wars, where great damage was done with Science as well? And surely you wouldn't dare say that someone should be burned just for being a scientist, would you? Even a simple cutting knife, used wrongly, can do a lot of damage, but we still use knives, don't we?"

That brings quite a shock, in paticular her parents. "Don't say such things, your not a wich dear!" After the shock of the statement fades it turns into almost a upror, the general cencis that she be taken to the speeker.
Graham Dailey
"Magic is a tool like any other, and just because some have used it to bring us all pain, myself included, doesn't mean there's a problem with the tool itself." She goes along with them if they demand she go to the Speaker
just now

She is practithly draged along out, a gumble of bodies around her, her already light headed state it biecomes a swirl. Thankfully it is not long before they shove her out and leave her to stumble into the speakers chambers and they are left alone.

Sam stands and straightens her shoulders, saying (perhaps a bit more defiantly than is wise) "Well?"
just now

He was sitting down and turned to look, "you are quite the defiant and angry one today."

Sam stands and straightens her shoulders, saying (perhaps a bit more defiantly than is wise) "Well?"

He was sitting down and turned to look, "you are quite the defiant and angry one today."
Graham Dailey
(dinner. back within half an hour, most likely. sorry for the delay.)
Graham Dailey
"When one is woken with threats of death, it is reasonable to be defensive."
Graham Dailey
"Reasonable, but not necessarily good, especially as you were not the one threatening. I apologize for my disrespect."

What makes you return to this place?
Graham Dailey
"I know not. An unconscious need for resolution, perhaps? I didn't exactly choose to return."

But you did, rather you know it or not.
Graham Dailey
"I certainly seem to have." She starts to step forward, hesitates, and goes back to standing how she was.

"You have been running for some time, I don't know what has made you look back but you seam not fully ready"
Graham Dailey
She's brought up short by this, and is visibly off-guard. "Running? Look back?"

He gives a light laugh. "You do not think you have been running from us?"
Graham Dailey
"Not so much running /from/ as running /to/..." She pauses, then starts again. "There's nothing for me here but burning, and there's a whole other system out there, full of things to learn and people to meet and ships to see!"

"I wasn't talking about running from what they might or might not do but from .. .well" he reaches over to one of those old fastion dubble doors pulling the uper half open letting you see the large twisted metal tree on the hillside... the seekers house was not this close to it, it shouldn't be there.

Graham Dailey
She hesitates, then scowls. "It's not from that. That wouldn't even be a problem to someone else. You could have mages come in to take a look at it, study it, and move on. Fuck, you could have materials scientists come in and see if there's something useful they could do with it, and succeed or fail. /That/," she points at the tree, "is not the problem. The problem is /you/. /You/ forced us all to stay here. /You/ turned it into a curse instead of an anomaly. /You/ taught me, taught us all, that there's something inherently wrong with what that is, with what /I/ am. And I refuse to accept that."

"Ah I am the easy target though arn't I?" He closes the door. "Not the fear of the people that you are linked to all this... not the fact we have no choice to live this way, what mage would come here... what scientist would abandand there studies to try and solve the problems of a small village with no way of compensating there time. No there is little we could have done, struggling just to keep ourselves feed and the debt collecters from doing something.... drastic." he sighs shaking his head. "But you, you could have done something."
Graham Dailey
"Done what? Get burned?" She sneers. "I know we don't have a lot of firewood, but it doesn't get that cold anyway, so my flaming corpse wouldn't be much help."

"You will never know though will you? You ran before facing anyone."
Graham Dailey
"After that many years of hating mages, it seems pretty easy to guess. You will never know if a chair is going to hold your weight this particular time, but you don't worry too much about sitting down anyway, do you?"

"We haven't had to deal with one of our own awakening, your fears bring up the worse you could imagen, but you know deep down the worce we would have done is what you did to yourself. That is why you left, not to give us the chance to force you out." He rubs his beard "Perhaps a bit of you would rather have your parents think you ran away than have them go through your exile?"
Graham Dailey
"They had a life to keep living. I had no such thing. And," her mouth tightens and her tone turns mocking, "who's to say they would even have recognized me?"

"That was your choice aswell. What happened did nothing to change how you look, only how you see yourself"
Graham Dailey
"What, you're trying to tell me that I've been having delusions every time I look in the mirror? Or at my arms and legs?"

"You have changed your apperance over time, but I speak of when you left." He stands. "It all matters little, if you think you are ready the truth of the matter waits for you" he waves for the door you were shoved it "or you can just run again... it's hardly up to me." and he walks of torge his bed chamber.
Graham Dailey
"These were here when I left, though I suppose you didn't get a chance to see them. But fine. Go ahead and show me this truth of yours."

"You think they would turn you away over cuts? eh...  Well go on then I'm not stoping you, or you exspect me to beleave you forgot how to show yourself out?" He mubbled some and whent into his bed chamber shutting the door leaving you alone.
Graham Dailey
She watches him go with a scowl, then steps back out the door, bracing for the worst.
7:35 PM

Something made her heasitate, it was eneasenigly quite on the other side of the door she couldn't even hear the breathing or shuffling of a crowd, while the back door seamed to have a pull on her mind. She couldn't help but wonder too why the speaker wanted her to go that way ether.
Graham Dailey
Hm...
7:36 PM
Graham Dailey
Willing to follow her instincts, she turns and opens the other door instead. Come to think of it, that tree was in entirely the wrong place....
7:38 PM

If she looked the tree was where it should be, and the seakers house was where it whould be.... but the door frame was standing there at the base of the hill alone.... some kind of portal between the seakers house and the door frame? o.O
7:41 PM
Graham Dailey
She grabs a piece of furniture, her jacket - anything really - to hold the door open while she inspects this odd situation. Surely /that/ can't be magic? She steps through and looks at the door from the hillside, walking around it to verify that it's really alone there.
7:42 PM

As she walks around the chair was there holding the door frame open but it just seamed to be a door frame sitting on the hillside now, even when she walked around to look from the way she came out.
Graham Dailey
She steps back through it cautiously.

Nothing happens this time.
7:45 PM
Graham Dailey
"Guess I get to keep the chair" she mutters to herself with a chuckle.

After a moment the frame, door, and chair come apart into vines and roots that slowly retract down into the ground disapearing. Leaving her alone with the tree.
Graham Dailey
"Or not." She grins at the absurdity of it all. "Suppose the tree is next." /And I should stop talking to myself./
7:46 PM
Graham Dailey
She climbs up the hill, approaching the tree.
7:47 PM

A voice seams to come from no where "Things do not always have to make sense sappling, yet it can only lead to growth when you search for a reason even if there is none."
7:50 PM
Graham Dailey
She pauses mid-stride. "Absence of proof is not proof of absence, I know. But I can't search for /all/ the reasons. There
's not enough time. Why should I focus on this one?"
7:52 PM

"Just an observation, one of the few things I am able of."
Graham Dailey
"Who are you, if I may ask?"
7:54 PM

"One who seeks redemption through others...."
7:56 PM
Graham Dailey
"From what? How can anyone ever be 'redeemed' anyway?"
8:01 PM

"Not easly, more so for myself for part of my punishment for my huberius is that I can not redeam myself. I can only observe what pain my actions have caused. But did what little I could, I took onto mysoul to grow a single bloom, a single fruit to bare a seed.... but alais the wind has stolen it away just as it would take root."
Graham Dailey
"You... want me to find a seed for you?" She scratches her head
8:02 PM

"You already have"
Graham Dailey
"Uh...?"
8:04 PM

"You are my sappling dear"
8:09 PM
Graham Dailey
"You mean as a mage? You don't mean a literal seed, do you? Imagine how Mistress Vane (or whatever a relevant verbena friend's name is) will react when I tell her it was a tree that Awakened me!"
8:11 PM

I gave you part of my soul in hopes of redeaming me.... but it seams it is to late.... flood waters rise, the bridge is out, no one is coming to save us now... but if we servive you may still find a way to brake the curse
58 mins ago
Graham Dailey
"You mean the node? That travel doesn't work between the two? What happened? What's going on?"

"It is something you need not see"
Graham Dailey
"Oh."
"But I'm supposed to break the curse?"

"Survive, and return to us some day.... then you can worry about that."
Graham Dailey
"I..."
Graham Dailey
She squares her shoulders. "I can do that. If nothing else, it's a reasonable repayment for... this" she gestures at herself, especially her necklace
49 mins ago

"I am sorry for that, I lost control over how they grow long ago."

"I am pleased you found peace in your awakening instead of voilance though, many would not have done so in such pain"
Graham Dailey
"There's more to me because of what I can do now than there ever would have been, so the least I can do is attempt to help you with your redemption. I /will/ come back eventually." She steps up to the tree, rests a hand lightly on its bark, and begins humming the tune she first sang to the guardian bushes.

The tree feels happy for this "You have heard the one song too... but unlike those that could not understand you... you hurd it's cry too... you know there is more too the melody of life, more to the song than what they sing for"
Graham Dailey
She gives a lopsided grin. "Maybe someday I'll give the Choristers another chance..."

"I dought you could teach them, and so much of the melody has fallen out of tune...."
Graham Dailey
"Perhaps they just need to change pitches and theirs will harmonize with ours. Who knows. That's a problem for the future."

"The song they lissen too is entranced them. I know not the orginal melody, though i though i heard something once...."
Graham Dailey
"Something to seek, then. I should spend less time singing and more time listening."

"It is always good to listen, I never did before... now it's all I do." There is some quite. "perhaps you need to see what has become of us..... but you must know you can not help us with this.... you will whant to help, but what you see there is nothing you can do"
Graham Dailey
"Will it help me plan for when I arrive? Or will it just distract me in the mean time? That, I think, should be considered in the decision whether to show me, and that, I think, is why I cannot make that decision myself..."

"There are those that will wish to know, and it may help you prepare for what you may be drawn into..... but it will distract you as there is little you can do for us now"
Graham Dailey
"I maintain that without already knowing, I cannot make that judgment. You must choose whether to show me or to leave me to focus on myself. Will we have a chance to talk later? If so, perhaps that will be a better time. If not, this is the only chance to show me."

"I am only the seed itself in essence dear... I do not have the power to draw you to me... you sought me out. But am a part of the whole even as we are seprate, two souls linked across vast distances I know what has taken place.... if you find you wish to know look into yourself and you will find the answers.
(You now will have the merit Twin Souls, and the backbround Dream 1 wich you can raise with RP and exp)
Graham Dailey
(ooh i don't know what that is but it sounds cool. i'll go look it up)

(not that usefull considering it's in another star ssytem realy but you can talk to the tree if you learn mind, and you know it's general health)
(if you were together though you could share sphers and quentessence pools while touching eachother)

"You have escaped the beast twice, please be carefull of it"
Graham Dailey
"The one in the station?"

"The one that killed the station, the one that killed so many..."
Graham Dailey
"I... I see. I will be cautious."

Seams the tree has learned that machens not need be organic to be alive lol
5 mins ago
Graham Dailey
(well if anyone whas going to learn that...)

"I will always be here with you if you look into yourself to find me."  With that the leaves on her chest start to grow into vines, wraping her up twisting around her binding her.
Graham Dailey
She takes a deep breath and relaxes, forcing herself not to fight it.
just now

She is slowly ingufld becoming a smaller tree herself, before sudently waking in the ship.  Her mind clear, her heart calm yet racing at the same time... so much though in her mind, a new song in her heart. She hasn't felt so well sense she first could hear the plants and sung back to them.... it was an amasing feeling.
