In reply to Devellana (msg # 467):

"Do we have any of those? I've never had such. Well I do not believe so but I would partake with you if there are some available." Speaking to the Knight while keeping the connection between himself and Raven, just in case anything wished to be passed between them concerning the call back to Luci and their home base.

Re: CHAPTER 3: Blood in the Water

Raven decided to fill the monk in on what he found out via the brain link, the condensed version that is.

'FW, maybe them getting that ship ain't the best of ideas. According to the pimple you won't let me pop, that thing was part of a bigger ship from all the way back to the Fall itself. It was parked on your home moon for a long time due to repair costs, but then all info  about and it vanished. Some politician from there abouts has been promising to find a place called Baylor, since you'd never have heard of it I'll just call it a sinner's heaven and leave it at that. The people who built it, well they build the ship this one here was part of, and Foot Fungus back on the ship seems to think it was used in an attempt to find this floating bar slash day spa slash BDSM club slash whateverthefuckyouwantittobewhenyougetthere. There could be stuff on there they don't need to be handling, like high grade military hardware they could accidently hurt themselves or us with.'

Re: CHAPTER 3: Blood in the Water

This prolonged connection was something the monk hadn't had since he was still in temple. It was good practice but also speedy silent contact of this sensitive discussion.

"Alright so it's decided then, we claim it and use it to heal Luci while protecting people from possibly horrifically powerful equipment. How should we go about this, any suggestions from base or from yourself?"

Re: CHAPTER 3: Blood in the Water

'Well my suggestion is we give them just what they asked for, get that monster they're so worried about up on shore. It'll be a helluva distraction, and while you and Dev help kill it I'll fly over to the ship ahead of them. By the time the dust settles I'll have claimed it legally, and unless they want an out and out fight with the three of us there's nothing they can do about it.

'Since that thing survived not only since the fall but also bodyslamming a mountain, I might be able to get it fired up again. I managed to make a quick fix to poarts of Luci, and I'm much more familiar with this level of technology; well not whatever fancy doodads they strapped onto it, but the underlying and less fancy parts that make it go. I doubt it could leave atmo as f'd up as it is, but if I can get it to lift up enough to clear the jungle without it shaking apart on me I might be able to nurse it back to the docks where Luci is. Then, it's din-din time. If that plan doesn''t work, and it very well might not since I've not had a look inside at the damage there, it'll fall to your people skills to keep things civil. Of course I've always got my guns, but I used them withoout thinking ahead too many times in my life and I'm not eager to keep making the same mistakes...'

Raven walked over to Dev, and asked her to use her powers to help and drag the beast from the water. He didn't add anything verbally about the real plan, and he was careful not to reveal anything with his body language overall; he did however give the knight a quick a brief wink hopefully only she could see, to hint that things were other than as simplistic as they seemed.

Re: CHAPTER 3: Blood in the Water

Finding the beast and moving it is hard due to its distance and size, even with the tank like device and the help of everyone getting it to near the shore was hard. It got easier as it got closer but once the monstrosity hit land and dug it's feet it struggled a lot more digging it's feet into the ground as it was dragged along. Thankfully it was visible and quite close now making it easier to affect. They where even ether to shoot tethers onto it now.

Soon it was being dragged onto dry land and into the wooded area, struggling and knocking down trees.

Raven for his part waited until everyone was busy with the creature, then summoned a spirit wind to aid him as he unfurled his wings. His hope was to make it to the downed ship, and if he managed it then he could grab the first thing he found and claim salvage rights to the wreck.

Re: CHAPTER 3: Blood in the Water

When Raven got to the ship, he realized he'd have no problems getting in as the craft was almost broken clean in half. He had hoped to be able to fix this thing somehow and get it back to the Lucid Nonesense, but as accomplished as he felt about rebuilding his ship's own engines he didn't think he could get this pieced back together if he had the blueprints, all year, and five of him.

The inside was made with expensive taste in mind, but now it was just a tasteful mess; holo-pictures glitched on and off in their frames, wires hung down pretty much everywhere, alarms were heard weakly here and there, and the only illumination aside from the sunlight shining through the giant gash were red emergency lights.

Re: CHAPTER 3: Blood in the Water

"Hell...hello?"

A plaintive voice sounded out from somewhere in the wreckage. One of Raven's hand's hovered by the hilt of a gun, as he saw a shadow move; it grew closer, and he saw it was a woman. A very attractive woman to be honest, though she wore no makeup and was clad in some type of surveyor's uniform like part of a science team. Her eyes lit up as she saw him fully.

"Oh thank the stars above! I didn't know if anyone would come, I was out here all alone with no idea where I landed!"

She ran forward and hugged the splicer, an act parts of him appreciated more than others.

Re: CHAPTER 3: Blood in the Water

The 'native life' that was in the water they where so concerned about was a Spinosaurus, yes. What they didn't seam to understand was what exactly a Spinosaurus was. The largest of all known terrestrial carnivores, the Spinosaurus has a long and narrow  skull and jaw fraim similar to the modern crocadilian and bore strait conical teet with no serratiations, large robust forlims baring three fingered clawed hands with elnarged claws on the first digit. The distivitve neural spines that give it the name "spined lizard" extiend from it's back bone  and grow to be nearly 7 feet tall at the small of it's back. This creature having grown up in the primal life forces of Venus was larger than it's terrestial counterparts towering over 15 feet tall in it's normal "hunched" like walking stance with it's for limbs haning in the air, much like a T-rex, and stretching over 60 feet from head to tail tip. It pulled back at the forces that where dragging in onto land, it's struggles easly knocking trees to the ground, as it started to get better fotting on the hardened soil of land giving out ear piercing roars.

The hunters immediately started to open fire, focusing there fire on the beasts head. Though the large energy cannon blast it in the chest, though it misses and just hits the side of the mountain. The general gun fire on the thing don't seam to be doing much more than making it mad.

Raven though he sensed something familiar on the ship but got distracted by the blast near by of an energy shell hitting the cliff side, and the girl glomping him. Thankfully the missed shot was far enough away it didn't seam to shift the ship any.

Re: CHAPTER 3: Blood in the Water

Raven enjoyed the pleasant surprise of a sexy woman wrapping her arms around him, but the blast hitting the mountain pretty much poured ice water down his pants. He had thought something seemed familiar for an instant, but other thoughts rushed to the forefront of his mind. He let go of the hottie, wishing he had another choice.

"Sorry Hon, but looks like we've got a bit of a situation here. There's a lake next to us, and a nasty monster lives in it. The only way I was able to get here was for others to pull it onto land, and now they're fighting it but missing and almost hitting us. This ship might have been something before the crash, but it's shit now and I have no idea how much damage will finish it off. You need to get to the safest place you can find, and I'm going to see if I can give old lizard breath out there something else to chew on."

Once he made sure the stranger was on her way, Raven turned his attention to the mess of wires and twisted metal that had at one time been the main controls of the craft. First he needed to stabilize the connections, then redirect emergency power to weapons, and see if he could get them and targeting back online. If all of that was a yes, then it was time to be very annoying to the big nasty thing. He was hoping his repair skill would see him through, but he wasn't against using Matter to aid him as it had on the Lucid Nonsense.

Re: CHAPTER 3: Blood in the Water

When Dev first saw the beast, she had a secret thrill of delight travel throughout her body; many were the tales of doing rightly battle with a dragon, yet never in her years did she believe such a chance would shine upon her! It was not as glorious as some stories and a far cry from a thrilling quest to be sure, yet still it was a moment to prove herself as a knight that might well live on in mead halls if nowhere else.

She had her faithful sword at the ready, then witnessed the weapon of the future fail to even gain the creature's attention. She knew right then two things to be true; one was that her blessed sword in and of itself would not be enough, and the second was that this was her chance to slay the fiend by her hand alone and gain glory.

She tried to think of her attack, what would most wound and with hope kill this abomination; her eyes fell to the lake, and then an idea began to form. Water was plentiful on her home moon, indeed water was life, all creatures needed it. With this in mind, she focused her mind and reached out her will, further and further until it connected with the dragon. Then she wished all water in and around it, in its mouth, between its scales, in its lungs, in all places to freeze as solid as the coldest of winters.

Re: CHAPTER 3: Blood in the Water

Even if raven wasn't too panicked to think to use his focus and sing, this was still going to be hard, Tink decided he was going to help as the bird seamed quite serious about this for once.... I mean.... shoving a female aside?!? Damn.

The little clockwork bird landed on his shoulder giving a little sing song mechanical chirping and vocalization to remind him to focus and nipped at his crystals. Flashes of images and feelings passed through him... it was a little confusing but he thinks he felt that his friend was trying to tell him spreading his own energy, a drams worth would be enough, through the ship would allow his magics to flow through it easier. Raven having no energy to him BUT the dram on him with no way to convert it into energy to flow through the ship... he was offering to give him some of the energy he been nibbling off his face to help.... but the little greedy shit wanted paied all two of the drams Raven had on him for the trouble.

The release of the gravity pulling it down allowed it to rear up and stand to it's full high and roar looking around for what dared to attack it.... this caused a few to stagger back and miss there shots but the shell from the tank hit it's mark doing a good deal of damage to it's neralotical systems.... then the cold condensed around and into it freezing it.. the damage to the water proof outsides was minimal but the insides... it's gut and lungs particularly was not... if it was a creature a quarter it's size it would be devastating, still something so larger was suffering. It staggered back from the shelling and cried out in pain, soon coughing up blood it breathing now labored and pained.

Re: CHAPTER 3: Blood in the Water

Raven reached into a pocket, and held out one dram.

"Here, fair trade. You help me, and you're not out anything. I need the other one just in case, if for no other reason than I might need more of your help and don't want you getting to weak. Besides I can get you more, but I need to meditate which I kind of can't manage right now. So just hold your feathers, I'll get you more later, but in case you haven't noticed I don't just pop into the spirit realm and make a new body when this one is toast. So let's get this done now and I'll see about getting you more, maybe even scare up something shiny for you. How's that sound?"

If Tink is in agreement and doesn't just blow a raven version of a raspberry at his friend, the bigger Raven starts his repairs while singing at the same time.

"Shot through the heart and you're to blame, you give love a bad name, bad name. Shot through the heart and you're to blaaaaaaame, you give Love a bad name."

Re: CHAPTER 3: Blood in the Water

Twink happily agreed to the idea a feast or trinkets later and snatches up the dram, lord only know what odd thoughts of what he was thinking he was agreeing to was going through his head but he seamed overly pleased with himself as suddenly Raven could feel the odd bond they shared in a rather particular way as energy flooded through it... it wasn't much mind you but it was an odd sensation from something that had only tormented him his whole life.... how it was giving back... sure in exchange for more later but it was another thing to throw in the "Well this is new" category.

As his energy flowed through the ship form Tink it seamed to pop into his mind more, seaming more real, he could feel out more of the ship see it more clearly and his magic flowed through his own energy in it with more ease.

Still this ship was.... in bad shape to say the least. On top of that it was the byproduct of the Sons of Eather, a buch of mad scientest that seldomly had much sense to there idea of what science had at times and the Cult of Exsticy, a buch of druged up hippies...  It looked like Dr Frankenstein did 5 lines of acid with Tomas Edisan and they tried to wire the ship together at the same time with out talking to each other about it.

THANKFULLY there was still a weapon system with power that he managed to get the control console wired up to in a way he could control it.... though it was a patch job.

Re: CHAPTER 3: Blood in the Water

Dev was quite pleased with her first strike, and even if she alone was not the slayer of this dragon then at least she would play a part in its downfall.

This time she focused on the strange device that delivered such pain  to the monster, and recalled what Solan had done with his rifle; channeling his own Force through it, to make the shots hurt worse. She had never attempted this before, but she was willing that this weapon could handle a lot. To this end, she pointed her sword at the cannon and willed as much force as she could muster into it.

Re: CHAPTER 3: Blood in the Water

Raven had worked on some fucked up shit before, usually because he was the one who fucked it to begin with. Yet, this layout took the cake without a doubt. He felt like the weapons would manage a few shots, but how many depended on the little energy that remained in the ship. The gauges were busted to shit, but if he could squeeze out three blasts he'd be lucky.

He needed to help his friends, he wasn't going to leave them to face that thing while he waited out of danger and safe. It wasn't who he was...anymore. He needed to make every shot this tin can could muster count, so he locked the weapons on target and primed them. Then, as he hit the firing sequence, he sang;

"I've got the power, uh uh uh, I've got the power, uh uh uh!"

Re: CHAPTER 3: Blood in the Water

Devalona focused on empowering the tank's shot did not go so well as she drew way more power from it's power stores than it could handle, but was able to control it for the tank, however this left the gunner freaking out and targeting systems going haywire. With some of Devalona's guidance and some frantic work from the gunner though they managed to wing it hitting it in the arm with the over charged blast though a good bit of the energy dispersed into the air uselessly......    Honestly Devalona felt that she could have probably done more help attacking it directly.

Raven targeted and fired on the dino, however detecting a living lifeform it defaulted to nonleathal force... then overdid itself due to the red aleart instead opting for ethanisa through the destruction of the nervous system. Damn hippies... long as it was detecting something alive down there it wasn't going to fire the asteroid cutting lasers..... still the laser it shot seamed to do a fair amount of damage to the thing and was defiantly not painless. Guess they didn't expect to be firing on a supersized dino.

The thing cried out and charged on the tank at this point. The support transports fired tractor beams on it, one faltered and fluttered but the other held keeping it at bay. One of the men on the tank cried out "Switch to AP rounds, better damaged hide than no hide."  The raptor riders nodded as they switched out from the energy rifles to rail guns and started circling around the beast preparing to fire.

There was a little shock that the ship had fired, when they didn't think it could do anything, but they where a little to distracted by the twenty plus foot dinosaur trying to eat them.

The Spinosaurus seamed to become even more distressed for some reason as it struggled more in the tractor beams, it getting pushed back some as it writhed. Rapidly it's body shifted some though, becauming slightly larger as it's scales hardened into plates and grew thicker and spikier.

Once the change passed over it, the creature seamed more aware and well more angry as it shook off the daze from the damage it took.

Re: CHAPTER 3: Blood in the Water

Raven was too far away to notice any changes in the beast, though he had figured out the peace lovers who build this ship had designed the weapons systems to be automatically nerfed when they detected a living creature. He had no skills with computers so trying to convince the craft it was really shooting at a lump of rock wasn't promising, and at a guess this wreck might be able to squeeze out another two shots at most without a new source of power to draw from. The splicer didn't consider trying to find the main power core and getting it back online, as he had no idea what mess the engine room was /before/ the crash. He had managed to remake a large part of his ship's engines, but then he had been able to visualize the whole piece from the broken remains. With what he'd found so far, the core of the thing would be such as to make his head hurt just by looking at it let alone trying to Spirit glue it back together. Still, if he could somehow get this hippy hunk of junk to think the beast out there was inorganic, he might get a bit more punch for the one or two blasts he could scrap out of the system. Crossing two hand's worth of fingers for luck, he begin his best to link his wrist computer to that of the vessel.

{Rolled Int. only, two 9s, no Botches or 10s}

Given that her attempt to aid the hunters by empowering their weapon failed, Devalona attempted to use her force magic to slam a wall of wind into the side of the 'dragon' and knock it to the ground where it might be easier to contain.
