Re: Starting Point

Each of you take a few minutes to reflect on your lives as you stare out the observation windows of the Garfish transport shuttling you from the your previous assignments to the Robotech Factory known as Space Station Freedom. Your choices and actions that brought you here bounce around your minds in anticipation of things to come.

Your orders to report to your commanders aboard the Gambit on pod one tucked safely with your gear. The Last two weeks of travel down to waiting for clearance to dock.  The trip was uneventful with nothing to really do once you are stowed away. The daily muster calls set the routine and galley and small rec hall provide the only place outside your dorms to socialize. And the small observation deck which to stare out at the stars.

There are several Alien from the Sentinel Alliance aboard the shuttle, A female Garudan  or Vulpine and three males wander the ship wearing their breather masks. A single pinkish female Spherian, standout from the Crowds. A dozen Praxians female Amazons constantly boast of their superior martial skills  to any who listens. The two dozen or so Bear People known as Carbonarite talk about how they are being assigned to the shipyards. The Zentraedi and Tirolian’s aboard buzz with excitement in the upcoming battle to free earth.

Its the teenagers running around the ship which drives most of the adults insane, non of them anwsered questions of why they were there other to say they were to report to the UES Nerv To Captain Misato Katsuragi.

All in all it’s a boring trip for each of you. Which you are glad to be over.

When the Transport Garfish docks its in Pod two. ten Seater open top Electric personnel transport vehicles take you from Pod two through the the city level of the central hull of the space station to pod one and to the rows of vessels which comprise the Gambits Fleet. Lines of people are being guided by several persons who point each person to the appropriate lines.

There is a secretary in front of twenty cubical offices which comprise the offices of the fleet coordinators. This is where you will find your officer to report to.

Re: Starting Point

Michelle stares out at the stars most of the trip to Space Station Freedom from the planet Eden when not in her bunk. She was secretly excited, her orders were to report to some commander on the Gambit and not with the other Teenagers of the Doctors.

she sat alone most the time trying to avoid the others as much as she could even at meal times. When they would gather round her she ate in silence.

She smiled when she finally gets her gear which is a small duffel bag. and sees the lines of people gathering around the transports. She waits her turn quietly.

Her hips sway as she makes her way down the ramp to the deck taking in the view in wonder. it was different then being on a human occupied planet. "Wow you have to hand it to the humans for their ability to reuse things they find with such ingenuity." she says absentmindedly to no one in particular.

She smiles to the other Garudans as they all gather about waiting thier turn for the transports. She idly chats with any who approaches her.

Re: Starting Point

Until now Cerise had not had the opportunity to be stationed somewhere with a large civilian population; even her garrison duty was spent at an outpost out in the middle of nowhere. This was going to give her so much opportunity to meet so many different people. Even here, on the shuttle, there was such a huge mixing pot; Garudan (or were the Vulpine?), Praxians (like the mythical Amazonians from Earth's Greek legends), Carbonarites (they really do look an awful lot like Earth's bears), Zentraedi (though they were very common in the UEEF's military, compared to the other non-humans), and Tirolians (the Robotech masters... sort of). She was so exited with this opportunity she had a little trouble deciding who to talk to first. Ultimately she figured that an order approach was her best bet; start with those closest and make her way through as many as she could before the ship docked.
So she started talking to everyone. Cerise couldn't help but come off a bit air headed; she was just so giddy, that it was difficult to maintain complete composure. So she talked to each person, and asked questions. Sometimes they were normal small-talk questions; "How are you today?", "Have you ever been to Space Station Freedom?", but, then, occasionally she forgets herself and the questions were the awkward sorts of questions that only a living rock would ask; "What does it feel like when your outermost layer peels away slowly over time?"

Doshi disembarks from this, ... hopefully last shuttle ride. "Stupid place is just to huge, no wonder no one misses home anymore." .... looking around at so many young faces "Shit it's infested too, ..." As he looks over at the alien life that's 'JOINED' the fight.

"God I hate my parents, .... of all the places to be stationed I think I rather be in the front again. At least I got to kill of few of these things." Not looking ahead of himself be bumps a back of a Bear Person, "Ahh Ya, excuse me big fella, ...." Doshi steps to the side, kind a rude like and continues walking following trying to follow the signs to Special Operations.

Walking up to a stranger, .... and noticing what looks like a nice quite girl (Michelle Grey), ....."Hey, Lt. Sorry to bother you but do you know where the line is at for Special Operations, ... this place is just too big to get the hang of and I kind a lost my way, ... ?"

Re: Starting Point

Miriana ignored virtually all attempts to socialize with the others, only straying out of the dorms to eat in the galley and barely being seen in the rec room. Her appearance helped drive off most of the adults that saw her as one of the teenagers annoyingly running around the ship which was a blessing, but on the other side she seemed to attract attention from said teenagers as well, and every meal there was always someone trying to socialize with her or failing to impress her with some pathetic little trick. While that generally did not last longer than a day or two she did end up with somewhat of a reputation and there was no shortage of teenaged boys trying to make a pass at her on a wager of being the hottest kid around. How... human.

She almost couldn't wait until they'd be old enough to enroll in boot camp. At this point she'd almost pay credits to witness that.

The trip to Freedom was at the very least a bit more eventful. She sat near a window for it, getting a good look at the Gambit's fleet she knew the route would take them past purely as a means to impress them with the grandeur of their latest assignment despite most of them being mere Garfish-class vessels. So utterly human.

Once arrived, she wasted little time in heading directly to Commander Rockatansky's office, straight past rows of people that were assigned to more expendable stations, and knocked firmly and clearly, her assignment form in hand as she waited to be called in.

Epiphany walks toward the pod, her mind drifting a bit, she had considered not reupping this last time.  Catching sight of her reflection causes her to remember why.  She had never been model beautiful, looking at the scars on the side of her face she had decided she wasn't that bad.  At 26 she had already seen a massive amount of combat, "Even got a freaking medal to go with it." she mutters as she reaches the end of the walkway.  "Keita, Epiphany, reporting for duty sir." she says, saluting crisply.  She often pretended she wasn't a lifer, truth was since her life was already fragged she didn't see any reason to leave the life, "As long as I'm fighting that means some other poor schmuck doesn't have to." she thinks as she gets in the pod.  She sits down and pulls out the picture of Sundiata, "I do worry about you though buddy." she says as she stares at the picture then puts it away and leans back, closing her eyes.

Re: Starting Point

Matt spends his time on the shuttle looking out into the vast darkness of space. Being a colony kid, he'd never left the soil of his home planet. While he was at first apprehensive about being in the confines of the shuttle, then in the confines of the larger Garfish transport, Matt is quickly able to adjust to his new surroundings, which leads him to long hours of staring out any available window.

He also spends time trying not to stare at the other alien races that he sees. He'd been fairly sheltered, growing up at the New Edwards base on Eden, and any alien beings on the planet were exceedingly rare. Her mostly only heard of these beings, or seen their pictures in text books. Where some people might be overwhelmed by this mass flood of new experiences, Matt keeps his head level and mostly keeps to himself.

When they arrive at their final destination, Matt cues up in line to speak to Commander Rockatansky, shaking his head slightly as to why a wrench jockey would need to report directly to the special ops commander, especially a wrench jockey straight out of boot.

He quietly mutters, almost sarcastically, as he stands in the line up, "So, apparently being able to fix stuff equals spec ops material."

Re: Starting Point

Cerise gets so caught up talking to a 6 year old human boy that she nearly forgets that she's supposed to report in, but then she sees all these recruits and young personnel heading places with some obvious objective in mind and it brings her orders to her mind. She curtly tells the little boy (who was in mid sentence) "Thank you for taking the time to talk to me, Billy. I hope to see you around sometime." Then she turns and spots a terminal; she uses the terminal to locate Commander Rockatansky's office, and heads straight there.
Seeing a line formed at the door she smiles and figures she'll be last in line... the fun way, and starts talking to the other new transfers. She starts at the end of the line and works her way forward.
"Hello there, Technical Specialist Patterson. How was your trip here? I see you are in line to see Commander Rockatansky as well; perhaps we will be working together."

Watching from his seat on the transport he shifts nervously as he steps off the 10 seater.  Years of hard work and training and it has all come to this moment.

Staring out at the lines peoples he takes a moment to look at his orders once more.  Having already committed them to memory, out of habit he unfolds them one more time to confirm that he will be reporting to Special Operations Commander Max Rockatansky.

Folding the orders once more and shouldering his dufflebag he looks for the nearest person directing the new arrivals.  With a determined look and confidence in his step he approaches them stopping abruptly with a quick salute while holding out his orders.

"2nd lieutenant Kaarle Cherkovski reporting for duty"

As the coordinator looks over the paperwork they motion towards one of the lines.  They hand back the paperwork and with another salute he walks off towards his assignment.

It isn't long before his heart begins to sink into his stomach as he sees the other people in line.  Clenching the strap to his bag he sets his jaw and follows in step at the end of the line.

In reply to Cerise (msg # 10):

"It was a pretty quiet trip ma'am," Matt speaks with a slight twang in his voice that might differentiate himself from other humans this Spherian may have met. "I mostly just stared out into the void the whole way here. First time I've ever left Eden. I hope your trip was just as quiet." He finishes with a smile. He was trying to keep himself from staring at her like a simpleton, but he couldn't help it, he'd never met a Spherian before, and now he was speaking with one.

"I suppose if you fly or drive one of the mecha on our ship, we'll see a lot of each other." He smiles with an unbound pride, "I'll be one of the many helping to keep them in good shape and in the fight."

Matt clears his throat, as if trying to clear his pride from his mind and voice, "So what is it that you do ma'am? Where are you from?"

He chances a quick glance back to the line to see if the cue had moved at all before quickly turning his attention back to the Spherian, awaiting her response.

In reply to Matt Patterson (msg # 15):

"My trip wasn't quite so quiet, but that is my own fault. You see, I'm a xenoculturist, so I'm constantly trying to learn from people of other culture, which usually means talking to them a lot. It is very interesting, at least to me. I do drive a silverback, so if you will be helping to work on those, I guess that is where I'll see you. As for where I'm from; I'm from Spheria, of course. It is quite rare for my kind to form anywhere else, though, of course, it has been known to happen. It has been nice to meet you, Technical Specialist. I look forward to working with you!"

Cerise notes the new arrivals and moves towards the back of the line (she wasn't standing in line, so much as next to it). As she moves towards the back she greets the next person back. (I think Doshi and Michelle are towards the front, so it must be Sillia) "Hello to you too, Private First Class Sill-ee-aa. Did I say that right? I apologize, but I do not yet speak Garudian, so I'm not certain on the pronunciation. My day is going quite well so far. I've met many new people. In particular I've now finally had the chance to meet an immature human. He was quite excited to tell me about some super-heroes that he enjoys incorporating into his imaginative play. How has your day been?"

Re: Starting Point

Matt nods slightly to Cerise when she bids him farewell, "It's been a pleasure making your acquaintance ma'am. I also look forward to working with you as well."

Matt turns back to face the front of the line, patiently waiting for his turn to check in. As he waits, he looks around some more at the people gathered in the area, watching them and seeing the interactions between them.

He takes a note of the two pilots ahead of him (Doshi and Michelle), the other pilot looking fellow off on his own it seems (Kaarle), and raises and eyebrow when he sees the extremely young looking girl also standing in the cue (Miriana). Seeing Miriana in line makes his heart sink into his stomach.

Matt thinks to himself upon looking at Miriana, 'No way she's on the mission. There has to have been a mistake.'

Matt sighs, unsure of what he should do or say. She was wearing Lieutenants bars, but she didn't even look old enough to buy a drink, let alone eat a bullet. He fidgets a little as he stands there wondering what his next step would be, and finally decides to speak up to her.

He gently taps Miriana on the shoulder, "Excuse me... Are you reporting to Commander Rockatansky as well," He pauses, remebering the officers bars, "Ma'am?"

He knew it was a stupid question, but it was better than him asking her if she may have simply gotten lost. It was a risk, and if it ended in embarassment, at least he could lose himself in getting elbow deep in an Alpha fighter soon enough.

Miriana was still waiting when she felt a tap on her shoulder, causing her to turn around and look up at the source of the disturbance. During the pause after his question she raised an eyebrow, which lowered again when he added the formal address.

- "Yes i am. This is the correct line, i take it?"

Of course, the sign above the door made it pretty obvious whose office it was, though the question was more intended to draw attention to that fact rather than be an actual request for information. He did at the very least look old enough to be half-decent at his job which is why she supposed he was assigned to Special Operations as well.

She glanced at the rest of the line for a moment, noticing most of them looked to be about or a little above his age. None of them were the teenagers that had annoyed her so on the ship, so she figured it would be better to take the edge off a little: They were as mentioned too old to be said teenagers and too young to be their legal guardians, it would be wrong for her to take it out on Matt for a very understandable question of humans of her apparent age not even being allowed into the UEEF. She decided to follow suit.

- "My apologies, i have been beset by hormone filled teenagers throughout the trip over to this station and i am still mentally exhausted from their droning. I may be somewhat abrupt."
