It's been a long time. I have no idea what i was doing in this game.

   I'm not surprised.  You vanished.

Then so did I. Nothing is happening I just saw that everyone had logged in and I kinda miss chatting with a cool group of people.

It's always good when you can get a job doing what you want and getting paid what you'd like and/or need.

And, yeah, it is probably safe to say that none of us remembers exactly what we were up to. :D it has been over a year, I think.

Yeah, things happened in nearly two years.  Weirdly, I am still playing most of the same games as I did back then.

Re: New Out of Character Thread

Hi!

Yeah - Pandemic threw a monkey wrench in everything. Left a job of 8 1/2 years & went to another that lasted 6 months & yet another that lasted a month and a half. Now im on another job but i like it so far as its four 10 hr. days with my Fridays & weekends free with voluntary OT if i want it.

Also selling a home but dealing with legal entanglements but im getting them sorted. Once done im gonna pay off some debt & save the rest for a down payment on a future home down the road...Pretty much what going on in my neck of the woods.

Re: New Out of Character Thread

I was doing great until the main line out of my house broke and the drainage has been backing up into my downstairs through my downstairs bathroom. So that's about 3 grand out of my pocket for them to dig up my yard and fix that. All while I been spending the last several days cleaning up the crappy situation in my downstairs bathroom, kitchen, and basement. Fun times.

Re: New Out of Character Thread

Ouch.... Sometimes owning your own house can suck. I had a similar problem a couple of years back, but mine was just root intrusion, so I've been managing to avoid having to pay for the several thousand dollar replacement by just keeping loads of root killer in there and a sensor to let me know if it ever backs up, so we can stop everything and take care of it before it gets out into the carpet and stuff.

Re: New Out of Character Thread

They're coming Wedsaday to do the work. So means laundry and showers at my stepmoms house a few blocks down.

My issue was caused  by the same thing Cerise. Root intrusion. Been fighting it for about 6 or 7 years and it finally got to this point. Was doing basically the same thing as you. Issue with my house though is it was built in the 1920s so it's got the old 1920s hard clayish pipes. Fun stuff.

Re: New Out of Character Thread

Ah, yeah, mine was built in the 60's, though I think this pipe has been replaced more recently than that, since I'm pretty sure it is PVC or ABS (or some type of plastic). Luckily it appears the root intrusion is just happening at a seam, so I may be able to keep it under control. Maybe. I also go my own 50 ft augur to aid my efforts at not having to spend thousands of dollars.

Re: New Out of Character Thread

I have a similar issue with my septic, though it is more it backflows when the ground water gets too high (like higher than the top of the tank).

We had torrential rain in June that had it backing up into the downstairs shower.  The entire back yard was mud, and it lasted for many hours at that level of rain.  It was crazy, I was going nuts, started smoking again after 7 years dry.

Re: New Out of Character Thread

I guess I had always assumed that boats handle such waste in a way somewhat similar to RVs; grey and black water tanks that have to be managed, presumably with some means of offloading constantly or near constantly while in a long term berth.

If so there are definite plusses and negatives to that approach; at least most of the "moving parts" so to speak are relatively easy to access, and have very little chance of root intrusion. But the downside is that there is likely somewhat more manual intervention required to keep it going over time.

Still, backups, at least of the black water, are likely to be noticed immediately, I would imagine.

Re: New Out of Character Thread

They do have black water tanks. Grey just get flushed out. So use bio degradable soaps.

As for black water, if you don't pump out at a specified location you have to go out 3 to 5 miles away from shore.

That said, most people flush thier tanks in the middle of the night.
My boat is so old she was built before the mandatory black water tanks. So her tolit has a padlock on it as coastguard requires. And I just use the dock restrooms.

Boat and rv life requires a different mindset. But still has some challenges.

Re: New Out of Character Thread

So you have to keep your toilet padlocked whenever you're in territorial waters? I guess no middle of the night quick trips to the toilet for you, then. It's either pee off the side of the boat (presumably a side where there's unlikely to be anyone able to view) or a whole trip from the boat to the dock restrooms (assuming they are open). Or I guess you can just pee in your sink/shower/whatever drain, assuming you have any of that. :D

My situation is kinda the same. A lot about my house is grandfathered because of age and only has to be updated if I have to do any major work. Such as broken main line, means main line replacement.

I still have old tube and nob wiring in my ceiling. My sump pump runs through my main line before the city made it a regulation you couldn't do that.

Lots of grandfathered things, that as long as I do not have to change the way they work or do major repairs to them, I do not have to fully replace them. But the minute something major goes wrong with any of it, I have to do full replacements.

So with my sump pump going through my main line anytime it rain it back up into my downstairs bathroom. I live in the Midwest, specifically Indiana, which has been getting hammered by storms the last few days. So I've had to dig out my secondary pump and put it in my downstairs bathtub to pump the overflow water out into the yard. They been postponing the dig do to the storms until tomorrow, so let's hope no storms happen and it get's done tomorrow.

Just watched again recently myself.  Strange how such an old show is so captivating!

I am doing the entire "Superdimensional trilogy" from Studio Nue.  Macross, Orguss, and Southern Cross.  All in original with subtitles.

I will probably move on to the Macross sequels afterwards.

Re: New Out of Character Thread

There is an English non-Robotech dub made by ADV for Macross out there.

There is an anime torrent site named Nyaa.si that has the subtitled Southern Cross and Mospaeda available.  I checked and there is also a version with the ADV dub for the original Macross as well.
