How conservative is this temple? Would it be out of place for a woman to speak first?

The Count does not speak Arabic so he will address the Imam in English unless Cynthia has a handle on the language ?

Unfortunately, John-Marc and Fulty speak Arabic but neither has posted for a while.

Molly doesn't speak it so she's just the pretty face right now.

John-Marc has been super busy and quiet in a lot of his games.  I can put a bug in his ear to post here.  :)

Ralph can join the group now if you like. He knows Arabic and can easily find his way to where the others are located, in the mosque's museum. In fact, he may have been there if he's visited Cairo before.

I realised too late that the current Gayer-Anderson Museum wasn't actually established until 1942, long after the surrounding buildings and tenements abutting the mosque walls were cleared in 1928 or so. At that time, one of the nicer and better-preserved adjoining houses was left standing and restored. It later became the residence of a British officer in the Egyptian Army, Major Gayer-Anderson (later granted the title Pasha for donating the house and his private collection of Egyptian and Oriental artefacts). Afterwards it was converted into a museum. Hey, nothing saying there couldn't have been an earlier depository of religious relics and books!

Alrighty... Made it short and sweet... Hopefully it works. Otherwise, I can definitely work on it.

I will be traveling to Macau starting next week. What with the steamer taking two weeks, I don't anticipate returning until sometime in February. (February first, to be specific. Because it's an airplane. Steam-powered, of course.)

Sounds fantastic! I suspect pretty much everywhere you go will have Wi-Fi. Even in Laos the internet wasn't hard to find. But of course unplugging is part of the adventure you are having in real life.

Yeah, I spoke with an antiques dealer in Kowloon who said the city has lost a lot of its charm in the past few years. Nathan Street used to be more local shops and such; now it's mostly western designer stores.
