As a note, I will post to move the game along tomorrow or a little later. Currently, I am waiting to board a flight to Trinidad. Once I get settled in wifi won't be a problem!

The in-laws are there! Gianna's grandfather teaches there and couldn't make it up to Vancouver before now, so he flew the entire family down there for his granddaughter's first birthday.

In reply to Cynthia Jane Holloway (msg # 762):

As mentioned, I am on vacation in Trinidad. It's more like just hang out and enjoy wifi and aircon while the grandparents spoil Giannamara, my daughter, so I have had a fair amount of time to post and so on. But we are taking an excursion to a resort on Tobago and while the hotel might have wifi, I don't know if it'll be a good idea to be wedded to the Chromebook. My online time over the next few days might be limited, is what I mean!

Ha ha! Of course. In my imagination, of course! Right now we're actually in Tobago. At this resort wifi in the room is CAD$20/day, but there is a free Internet cafe. Still, that's going to cut down on posting etc.

Sorry for my absence guys.  It's been a perfect storm of RL and work stuff.

I'll catch up to the thread and post where it makes sense to re-integrate JM.

In reply to John-Marc Falcon (msg # 767):

OK. Next up is talking with Jan, the Dutch academic that was thrown off the Clive Expedition. JM will talk to Dr. Khafour about safeguarding the Girdle of Nitocris, then get a letter to visit the Clive expedition. After, he and Mah'mud will take Alexander's Triumph motorcycle and meet the rest of the group at Jan's flat in the Old City.

In reply to The Keeper (msg # 770):

As JM was being temporarily NPC'd, I decided he was going to proceed to the Museum on his own, then meet with the rest of the group at Vanhuevelen's flat.

However, I am retconning the flow of events. I will say you proceeded as a group (JM and Mah'mud on Alexander's Triumph, the rest in the Peugeot touring car) to the museum, picked up the letter of permission (allowing you to visit the Clive expedition) and dropping off a letter asking the Doctor to protect the Gridle of Nitocris on behalf of the Imam of the Mosque of ibn Tulun.

Re: OOC Posts II

By the by, this Friday I will be traveling to the distant lands of Canada on a moose safari, and then to Scotland and the Smoke to peruse dusty book stores and recent finds at the British Museum. I won't be posting much until I get back on the 29th.

Nice! Where in Canada are you visiting? You can see moose and other wildlife practically in the subutrbs.

And visiting both Scotland and "Venice on the Thames" sounds wonderful.

I am back! Wonderful trip. The British Museum was especially poignant, although I saw no girdles of concern.

Re: OOC Posts II

Just FYI, I know conversations can go very long, but I'll be pretty active the next few days, so hopefully any question-answer can be addressed quickly. Plus, I'm trying to remember details OOC, so I can avoid asking stupid questions IC. I believe the Carlyle were the ones who lifted (perhaps literally) the sarcophagus from the pyramid, but weren't directly involved in the thefts and attempted thefts of the other items.

I'm aiming to learn about that, as well as where they went next, and who they met with in the city as a secondary goal if time permits.

Re: OOC Posts II

In reply to Cynthia Jane Holloway (msg # 782):

Ha, yes, keeping everything straight is an issue!

Carlyle's expedition was allegedly massacred in Kenya after visiting Egypt some six years ago. It was sponsored by the Penhew Institute. (Lord Penhew also supposedly died along with Roger Carlyle.)

The theft of the Sarcophagus from the Pyramid of Menkaure (supposedly containing Queen Nitocris' mummy) happened much more recently. The current Clive expedition found it in a previously undiscovered chamber a couple months ago. Soon after discovery, it was mysteriously stolen. The Clive expedition is currently relocated south to Memphis. It is also sponsored by the Penhew Institute.

Where van Heuvelen fits in is he was recently fired from the Clive expedition for being a drunk. He might have important information about the Clive expedition. It's important to note he still seems to want to be hired back by them, so some care should be taken when talking to him.
