Re: Cairo II

Once inside the car, Cynthia hurries to open the box. "Ruses within ruses, yes? As long as everyone is certain this is a good idea..."

With that, she withdraws the garter from the box, gives Sigismund a glance clearly telling him he should find somewhere else to look for a short while, and reaches under her niqab to conceal it.

"Hm... I have a sudden urge to eat olives and dance naked to the dark gods. How do you think the decoy car is doing? I do hope all of this is for nothing, but it seems a lot of work for a cross-town delivery."

In reply to Cynthia Jane Holloway (msg # 567):

"While that sounds like a delightful idea Cynthia, I doubt this would be a good...."

To late, Cynthia had already opened the box.  Molly gave a sigh and wondered if Cynthia REALLY wanted to do that or if she just wanted to do that because of the garter.  Mungo didn't care which way right now because she was thinking if one was going to dance naked it should be in a cooling water fountain and with bells on.  Molly blinked but didn't say anything.

"Ah, mmhmm, of course." The Count studies the wonderful workmanship of the leather on the door. Once they are safety in the car the Count takes his hand off his the butt of his revolver and concentrates on what is going on outside.

Count Sigismund Bathony rolled 96 using 1d100 with rolls of 96.  Spot hidden = 72%.

In reply to George Perkins (msg # 566):

"Ya, of course! I'll aim low!" With that he aimed the Lewis gun and fired a long burst, tracking the first motorcycle. Unfortunately, Perkins wasn't able to keep the vehicle very steady and the rounds missed, sparking and whining off the pavement.

With that, both BMWs peeled off, one turning left, the other right. At that the truck continued to gain at them. They cold also see a car behind it.

At the mosque-turned-insane-asylum, what was apparent was that it seemed no one was waiting for them. The slum around the gate seemed deserted.

Mr Perkins was not use to the vehicle he was driving and was glad just to keep it on the road.
"Karlheinz aim for the trucks radiator, put a couple of bursts into it."

Cynthia keeps her shotgun close at hand, but there doesn't seem to be much need for it, so she watches out the window. Such a rare pleasure to drive without the traffic so endemic to Cairo.

In reply to George Perkins (msg # 572):

There was a fusilade of shots from the truck.

One round passed by close overhead with a crack. Other rounds whizzed by harmlessly.

Taking careful aim at the truck, Karlheinz fired a couple bursts of 4 rounds each. The first volley struck the lorry's radiator. The second went too high and missed!

With no sign of pursuit, the group with the Girdle turned towards the river.

They travelled down deserted streets as the sun sank low on the horizon.

"Take out the cap then or the wheels at this speed they will be in for a fun ride should one of them burst." Mr. Perkins concentrated on the task at hand and keeping them on the road.

OOC: I think there was a magazine of AP rounds as well as the explosive ones with the Lewis gun should we need it.

"I'm certain they are. We're in the center of a major city, and they are consummate professionals. Not that we've heard a shot or a shout from anywhere in the quarter."

She looks out over the river, and the overlapping flat roofs of buildings spreading into the distance, slowly turning red in the sunset. "A rare moment of peace. We should enjoy it while we can."

Re: Cairo II

In reply to George Perkins (msg # 577):

There was a spattering of rifle fire from the pursuing lorry. Bullets zipped past the decoy car with a buzz-CRACK! A couple struck the rear of the Pugeot but ricocheted off the steel armour plate with a whine.

Lining up the front of the lorry, Karlheinz returned fire with the Lewis gun. Bullets bounced off the steel plate protecting the driver, and the radiator. But a lucky shot struck the radiator cap! A plume of steam shot up in the air! More bullets struck sparks from the paved boulevard, some struck the tires, but there was no blowout. The lorry began to slow and slew back and forth.

Two pursuing cars began to edge around the lorry, although they were hampered by its erratic fishtailing.

Bullets whined overhead, spanged off stone walls or threw up dust as they ricocheted off the pavement of the Boulevard. Faruk began fishing around for the armour-piercing ammo drums.

"Ya, we will... Scheisse!" cried Karlheinz, clutching his left shoulder. "Vercammit! I've been hit!"

Quickly examining the wound, Haji agreed. "He'll live, insh'Allah!"

While Faruk bandaged up Karlheinz, Haji Finished reloding the Lewis gun. It would take a few more seconds to finish the task.

Behind them, the firing continued. Again, bullets whizzed by overhead, some kicking up dust as they struck the road surface.

One of the cars managed to pass the lorry and began gaining on them but the other was still trapped and unable to advance.

Perkins may make a Spot Hidden Check.

Meanwhile, the others arrived at the river wharf. Ancient plans sat atop weathered pilings sunk deep into the black Nile mud.

Head down and both hands on the wheel Perkins watched the road and the car in the wing mirror as they sped along at an alarming pace. Ever vigilant Mr Perkins looked for a way to slow the cars and to keep ahead of them and their occupants.

George Perkins rolled 15 using 1d100 with rolls of 15.  Spot hidden = 25%.

The Count offered his hand to the ladies so they could alight from the car, his other hand was firmly around the grip of one of his Colt New Service revolver. He was not watching the car either, but looking at the people that may be on the pier or road.

Cynthia makes quite the show of helping to lift the box out of the truck, before backing away and letting the Count take care of it. As though just extra help, she makes her way down to the boat, always trying to stay out of the way.

Re: Cairo II

The Copts (Coptic Christians) sat in Alexander's boat and on the wharf. They were Alexander's men and kept a careful watch. Their SMLE's were close to hand.

Roger dismounted the Lewis gun from the Triumph's sidecar, and climbed down into Alexander's sailboat, a common open type used for river transport on the Nile. Alexander got ready to cast off after the rest boarded.

The sun sank into the western desert beyond the dark Nile and the pyramids. Within a moment or two it would be the end of prayers. The residents of Cairo would soon fill the street.

Meanwhile, looking ahead Perkins realised that the two motorcyclists had sped quickly on parallel routes, overtaking them and meeting up in front of the racing decoy car. They had pushed a wagon and a cart into the wide boulevard, partially blocking it. Then waited in ambush, rifles and grenades at the ready!
