Re: Cairo II

A hail of bullets from behind struck the steel plate in the boot of the Renault, or whizzed-cracked overhead!

Faruk, bringing the Lewis gun to bear to the front depressed the trigger and unleashed a stream of lead into the barricade and the riflemen behind it. That and Perkins' fire caused them to duck down. Perhaps one or more were hit, it wasn't clear!

One hand on the steering wheel, Perkins concentrated on shooting the narrow gap in the barricade. They almost made it but the car clipped the 2-wheeled wagon and skidded into the intersection! The truck was right behind it, having caught up, but the pursuing cars went out of control. One crashed into a shuttered shop front to the right, the other slammed into the 4-wheeled wagon blocking the intersection.

OOC: Perkins had better make another Driving check to regain control...

"OHhhh... blow it...." He steers into the skid and they momentary stop before Perkins hits the accelerator and speeds out of the intersection. "Fire on the truck.... on the truck." He lowers the Mauser pistol at the drivers side window and fires a series of shots at the occupant.

Carrying his carbine wrapped in a jacket the Count also climbed down into the sail boat after allowing the ladies to go first. He found somewhere with a little bit of cover to watch the boat cast off and to keep an eye on the dock.

Count Sigismund Bathony rolled 97 using 1d100 with rolls of 97.  Spot Hidden = 72%.

He also cast an eye over the other traffic on the water as they made their way into the river.

Re: Cairo II

After they slammed into a wagon and skidded, Perkins brought the Renault under control. The shots from his Mauser C96 pistol went wide. Using the Lewis gun Haji sprayed the attackers with a long burst, hitting one several times. The other fired his Mauser rifle at the car as they departed.

At the waterfront, Alexander's boat shoved off. It drifted on the current of the muddy Nile waters as Alexander raised the sail to increase their speed.

Keeper's Notes: The Renault took 8 HP damage from the collision, out of 25. Perkins took 12 HP damage from the Mauser round. The ROF for Perkins, an experienced shooter, is 3/round. He can take up to double those shots (ROF 6) but these shots are considered unaimed. Therefore Perkins is at 1/5 skill (13% to-hit).

Perkins has been hit unless he makes a Dodge check! If he does then the bullet strikes the armour plate (AV 10 HP) and could still possibly penetrate.

Mr. Perkins placed the Mauser in door compartment and put both hands on the wheel again as they speed off in the direction of the garrison. "Haji if that truck follows give it as many bursts as you can. Those armour piercing bullets should shred the thing, plating or not."

George checks his mirrors again to see if they still have pursuers.

George Perkins rolled 31 using 1d100 with rolls of 31.  Dodge = 31%. Weird roll took me a couple of seconds to take it in.

Cynthia climbs aboard the boat, careful to watch her footing. She has enough familiarity with her father's yacht to have sea legs, but there's no reason to get cocky.

Once aboard, she heads towards the center of the boat, to find some cover.

Molly waited for Cynthia to get on board and then went to follow her. She watched how Cynthia did it and tried to imitate her but wasn't as successful.  Her entrance into the boat was, to put it midly, clunky and awkward.  She rolled over and got up and followed Cynthia to cover.  "If we need to do this more often, Cynthia, you'll HAVE to tell me your secret on graceful exits and entrances."

Molly rolled her eyes a bit.  If she could have controlled her fall, then she would have been able to control the swish of the hips.  The thought of swishy hips did bring a smile on her face though and she looked over at Cynthia.  "Swishy hips huh?  Well that is something I"ll have to practice for sure.  At this rate I should be an expert at the falling into the boats in no time.  Then I can work on doing it gracefully."

Finding somewhere to sit the Count placed the jacket bundle on the seat and he remained standing while they case off from the shore. Watching the Count continued to stand, partly to give him something to do and to stay out of ear shot of a rather unsettling conversation.

The boat started to go with the current. Stars began to come out overhead. Then a cold wind blew down the Nile, ruffling the sail. Alexander and his crew looked a little worried.

"A little odd. The wind usually is going the other direction, upstream. Let's take down the sail and rig the outboard."

With practiced efficiency, Alexander and his crew stowed the sail and mounted a small petrol-engine on the aft starboard side. The propeller was mounted on a long 10-foot shaft that stuck out behind the Felluca.

Re: Cairo II

The Renault's tires squealed as they slewed right, changing course from the Museum to the prison/garrison. If the cultists were surprised they did not show it! The truck and one of the cars skidded around the corner to follow them. The cultists who were on motorcycles mounted up to follow, kicking their machines to roaring life!

Faruk aimed a long burst at the truck, and the stream of lead is hosed back and forth along it's metal flank but concentrating on the engine compartment. The hood went flying up and engine parts sprayed everywhere!

Molly, every sense her encounters with cats, has decided to just roll with what is thrown at her.  SHE hasn't developed the ability to change the weather, although that WOULD be a terrific ability, so she must roll with what is thrown at her.  The thought of being able to control the weather flits around in her brain.

Re: Cairo II

Above the sky of the ancient city of Cairo, storm clouds began to appear, blowing in from the Sinai, from over the Mediterranean, down the Nile and over the pyramids and the desert to the west. They gathered blackly overhead, cutting off the sun.

Down below, one car pursued the decoy vehicle, flanked by two motorcycles. The stricken lorry quickly fell behind, smoke pouring from the engine compartment. Meanwhile, the wide boulevard was becoming less empty as prayers came to an end. However, most of the people stood around, looking up at the suddenly roiling overcast skies with a mixture of fear and curiosity.

On the river, the wind began picking up, rocking the felluca and other small craft more and more.

Re: Cairo II

The hammer of George's Mauser dropped on an empty chamber with a series of clicks. He'd fired all ten rounds om the magazine, and forgotten to reload any cartridges! Reloading the Mauser would require inserting a stripper-clip into the magazine through the top of the receiver, very inconvenient while driving.

In the rear, Faruk and Haji finally wrestled the ammo drum for the Lewis gun onto the post on the receiver and pulled back the charging handle, but the weapon wasn't quite ready to fire.

This was too bad as the cultist passenger on the bike to their rear right cocked back his arm and threw the Molotov cocktail in his hand. The flaming bottle spun end-over end as it flew towards them and then overshot, missing the vehicle! The missile exploded in a blossom of flame to their left beside the driver-side door, beside Perkins (the Renault being a French car and therefore a left-hand drive).

Now in the front seat, a wounded Karlheinz drew his own Mauser from its shoulder-holster and, twisting around, extended his arm across the back seat and fired at the attacking passenger, then fired again at the rider, missing both times.

The passenger on the bike now fumbled at the stick grenade stuck in his bandoleer, trying to get it ready to throw. The second cycle had caught up on the right hand side.

Meanwhile, on the Nike, the crew struggled to keep the felluca upright in the mounting winds. The small craft bucked wildly as the wind-tossed waves grew bigger and more ferocious.

With a cry, one of the crew was swept overboard, screaming as he disappeared under the angry waters of the Nile!

Keeper's Note: Everyone must make an opposed DEX or STR check (your choice) vs. a STR of 13 wind to avoid being tossed out of the craft.
