No rush, Zoey.  *smiles*  Family and Real Life come before everything, so no worries.   :)

Re: DecoderZoey's Room

Yes, I think we've all rolled a proverbial '1' on the die of dealing with family, at least once or twice.    Still, it's a good idea to keep them first.

Re: Real life problems

As someone who's been to college, let me reassure you, my dear:
College means more responsibility and more work, but it, by no means, has anything to do with "growing up"   :)
Honestly, college is a good way to put off growing up for a few more years.

College was wonderful, actually.    With new friends and experiences, and adding a whole new dimension to your life.
And you won't have to lose the old one, either.   *smiles*

Re: Real life problems

Thank you. :) That really is actually reassuring. I'm just really nervous is all. I get overwhelmed too easily and I don't think I'm ready for more work. I mean, I am great with my academics, but I guess it's the whole "new school" kind of thing.

I'm getting my general stuff done first because I have to get myself on the Nursing Program list.

Re: Real life problems

*smiles*  College can certainly be a lot of work, if you want to do it right.   And goodness knows that Nursing can be a tough program.  But very rewarding.
I know a lot of people who've done or are doing Nursing, and they love it.  They are very  happy with their jobs and are making good money.

Still, it's not so bad as long as you budget your time and make sure you don't procrastinate.
(actually, you can probably get away with procrastinating a bit, goodness knows that I did, but it makes your job harder *smiles*)

It's also surprising how much good information you can learn from the 'fluff'.  I still remember many things from my 'electives'.

And there should be, depending on your school, plenty of counselors and tutors who can help you get settled a give you advice about what to do and how to do it.

One thing that I'd say, though, is to make sure not to underestimate your work load.
There have been many very intelligent people who cruised easily through high school, who assume that college will be much the same, and are horribly surprised when it's more difficult.
You can do it, I'm sure of it, but you'll just have to pay attention and make sure your study skills are up to the task.   It's all about delegating time to do your work, and not be overwhelmed by all the new experiences and the cool and wonderful things that college offers.

I'll admit, I let myself be distracted by the wonders of Boston, where I went to school, as well as gaming with my friends.   I wish I'd knuckled down a bit more, concentrating more on my work than I did.  I still graduated, with a degree and lots of experiences that I still draw upon, but it could have been much more if I'd worked a little harder.

Re: Real life problems

Work is all good and well, you just remember to schedule some fun at times too, or you'll get frustrated

I went to school, and I actually wrote up a free-time schedule to follow, as in make food for an hour after school, study for 2 hours, then go out for a walk or socialize for 1 hour, then study some more. And all weekends was free for parties or socializing, except during the weeks one wrote the last thing of the course... Whatever that's called in english now again

I at least learn faster when I'm relaxed and happy, when stressed and frustrated with my life, nothing stuck in my head

Re: Real life problems

*grins*  Yes, in America the end of the course is "finals week" and is usually very busy.  But there's plenty of time for socializing and fun, too.  You just have to keep track of it a bit better.
Back in High School, most of us had our parents to keep an eye on our schedules, telling us when to study, when to eat, when to sleep, and when we could go out to be with friends.
Well, it's not always that strict, but you know what I mean.  Most of us, as kids, don't have to think so much about how to budget time.  College is all about us taking responsibility for our time.  That sounds scary, but it's not too bad as long as you keep your eyes on the prize.

Re: Real life problems

It's always good to challenge yourself with new situations.  I can't say that I was ever nervous about going to Uni, more like anxious to get going with my studies there, but then my acceptance came late and I was scrambling around to get my classes and fees sorted.  Didn't have time to be nervous.

Re: Real life problems

I, sadly, had plenty of time to be terrified, but I made lots of good friends, both in the local gaming club and around my dorm, that helped me and taught me to relax.

I never really appreciated my time at Uni.  Such a great learning environment but I squandered it and am paying for it now.

Re: Real life problems

*chuckles*  I know what you mean.

If I could do it over, I'd take MUCH more advantage of all the things going on, rather than just gaming so much and hanging out with friends.
There were clubs that I didn't fully appreciate, seminars and lectures, as well as many cultural opportunities.
Granted, I had great fun and memories at college, and it made me the person I am today (which is a person I like, more or less *smiles*) but in some ways I was too immature to really have the ambition to get as much from it as I could have.

Zoey sounds more mature than I was at that age, so I'm thinking she'll do better.

Re: Real life problems

Oh boy! My first semester of college all done. Finals were such a drag and such a huge stress mess!

Thank you guys for all the faith and support. You guys are so wonderful! :D I'm so sorry I just keep suddenly disappearing, but college is just too time consuming, but good news is I'm off for like an entire month! :]

I've been busing working, class, and then the rest of my free time goes to my new fiance, hehe. :] I've been engaged since October 21st. but other than that, I'm still me.

Happy holidays you guys! <3
