Re: bigehauser's Room

everyone forgets the ketchup, the spices and the toilet-paper on their budgets, so it usually gets hella expensive because of those small but oh so expensive things

I have acquired this intense hate against spices, their prices are so horrible, and we need them so badly to make food taste good

gargle...

anyway, yes, food is expensive

Re: bigehauser's Room

It depends on the food.  Sometimes you can get the "real" taste of food without a lot of salt and heavy spices.   But I see what you mean.
We have lots of cheap food, but it's all the heavily processed junk food with lots of artificial stuff, with tons of salt.
The healthier food is always very expensive.

Re: bigehauser's Room

healthy foods are expensive, but manageable so, there is even stores that sells by weight over here, if you need a small amount of rice, you can go there

and it's all organic and fair-trade

I think, that we in Finland take good food seriously, so we have good food for sale, but yeah, it costs about an euro more than the cheap stuff, so students and people without jobs, eat the cheap stuff

We have cheap food down to an artform.   :)    All sorts of cheap, unhealthy stuff on the shelves.

But I'm trying to stay healthy.

get yourself a way to grow your own stuff, a small house of plastic to keep the plants warm and out of the way of anyone's hands, and then grow some greenery to compliment the food you buy

complement?

compliment?

which means add to the bought stuff?

anyway, it's the cheapest way, the easiest one is beans, green beans, almost grows like weed

*chuckles*  I had a garden when I lived on my family farm.   I don't want another one, thanks though.   Heck, I'm too lazy to even mow the lawn.   :)

I know what you mean, though.   Still, we try to buy organic stuff, for the most part.

I have a friend that actually guilt-trips me hard if I don't buy organic or local while she's near me

and then another one that says she understands I buy cheap now, but she expects me to buy locally when I have a job...

I just want to buy food...

I tried the grow it myself shit, and never again, too much work...

It's too bad that you're being harassed into buying organic.  We should do it because it's a good thing.

We try to keep organic, but no one should be teased into doing it.

I am a very strong person, if they mess with me, I'll stare them into oblivion, so as long as the teasing and guilt is because of worry for nature, it can go on

I've heard worse about more personal things...

I keep people with quirks, I do not allow bullying and using of me, so if they are allowed to be my friends, they nice, but quirky

That's a good thing.  :)

I usually don't bow to peer pressure, though I try to do what I can to help the environment and the local economy.
But certainly I don't want to do it just because people are bugging me about it.  We Americans can be stubborn, refusing to do things even more vehemently if someone wants us to.

Re: bigehauser's Room

ooooh, I hate being ordered to do shit, if I'm at work, it's another matter, because then I get paid to do stuff

Free time is my free time, so no ordering around of me

and I just spent a ridiculous amount of time checking my teeth, it felt like I had damaged a tooth...

It wasn't damaged, it looks like a crack, but apparently I've had it since I was 9 or so... Yes, I checked photos...

I think I need to stop thinking soon

It's easy to get obsessed with teeth.   They're always there, on the tip of your tongue, as the saying goes.  :)

I hate being ordered about, but I've gotten used to it.   I'm more of the "taking orders" type, to a certain extent.

Clear instructions I can follow, orders, not so much

do this because of this

do this no questions asked....

I don't think I can ever join an army...

I would be bad in the army, too.   I hate being yelled at.   :)

I'm okay with following orders when they make sense.    When they don't, it's just depressing.

Re: bigehauser's Room

as someone once said to me: A boss is someone that rides on the backs of others, while a leader helps you pull the weight

made no sense at the time, but then I saw an image that explained it

http://modernservantleader.com...s-leader-800x800.png

So now I look for a leader, not a boss, in my surroundings and the dude that pays my wages...

hah, I have no wages

*smiles*  Yes, I think a Facebook friend showed me that one.   It makes a lot of sense to me, too.

My current boss thinks of  himself as a leader, and I think he honestly tries to be one, but he's not very good at it.

Still, he's getting better.

everyone starts somewhere

and the fact that he tries, makes him much better than those that aren't even thinking about how they are as bosses or how to lead

True enough.  He's hungry to move up the organization, so he's at least trying to learn from his mistakes.    :)

he's hungry for power in the right way

I have had a boss that did the denial-way of dealing with problems and blamed others when her ideas didn't work

and if she broke something it was still my fault, even if I was home when said thing broke

My boss isn't that bad.   He tries to be a good boss.  But he still gets too paranoid about getting into trouble with his bosses.

On the other hand, I've made some mistakes in the least week, and he was pretty good about not throwing me to the wolves.

Re: bigehauser's Room

My boss would be quick to throw me to the wolves if I really screwed up, but he's been good about not getting into trouble just to make himself look good.   Granted, he's also trying to "groom me" for leadership in our organization, which I'm resisting, so that might be one of the reasons he's being more generous.

Re: bigehauser's Room

oh yeah, I don't get the grooming, okay I get that when people move up, they have to replace their old job

but why don't they ask first, who'd like to be boss? and then pick the best from those that said yes?

Why subtly groom someone and give them more and more responsibilities until suddenly they do it all, then give them a raise... or not, just trick them into do more for less pay...

I've heard of those bosses too, those that let their underlings do their jobs, while they lean back and take the credit

*chuckles*   I think that it's not so much that he wants to trick me, but that he probably just assumes that everyone wants to move up, and all we need is a little encouragement.

He might be moving to another shift, though.

which is sad

it's a good assumption, thinking that people want to move up, but he should start asking
