Re: In the Shadow of the Mushroom Cloud
The agreed plan was to eliminate any tangos encountered quietly, only going loud when the grenade group (Bravo) was in position to assault the Krell and HQ tents.
After the charges were set, Tim and Lina in Alpha moved so they could each get a clear shot on the western guard towers from 10m range allowing either small arms or Armbrusts. Their braves followed behind, ancient M-14s in hand. The guard posts would usually have one occupant but sometimes two. They could actually hear the guard in the NE post snoring loudly.
Meanwhile, Kim got into position to cover the north gate post with his grenade launcher. Leaf and El led their contingent of M-14 armed braves forward, stopping when Leaf gave a "halt" and "one Tango" signal as she peered around the side of one of the worker's tents. She quickly raised her bow, aimed, and let one arrow fly at some unseen target. She then started to reload but then re-slung her bow, gave the "move out" hand signal and led the assault group around the corner.
When El cleared the tent he could see a figure of a man sprawled on his back, arrow protruding from his throat. Spurting blood quickly stained the snow around him as he made helpless choking noises, then stopped. An old M16 on a sling lay next to him so this was obviously one of the mercs, or their Krell masters. And not a worker who'd gotten up to use the jakes.
PD Note: I could have let El smoke the guy with his MAC-10 but for once I wondered if a bow in a post-apocalypse game could actually do the job. Turns out, it can! At least in an RPG as deadly as TMP.
