Re: A Long Road to Paradise II
In reply to Tina Marie Lassiter (msg # 139):
There was movement to the SW, coming along the trail that followed Lake Louise Dr. from Bellingham and the RV point with KZ-167. Whoever it was, they were at 50m range and approaching quickly. There was little sound except for a quiet hum as the small vehicle rolled along. There was still too much vegetation to get a good look for a few seconds at what was approaching.
At 30m he could see (with difficulty) it was a woman wearing Project clothing (coveralls, gloves, helmet with face shield, Kevlar vest) all covered in a rain poncho. She was riding an electric-powered 3-wheeled Honda ATV loaded down with Project gear and towing a small 2-wheel trailer. The front cargo rack held a pack and M10B shotgun. A radio antenna whipped back and forth from over her shoulder as she approached.
"FIRE IN THE HOLE!" came the warning call behind him, followed by a sharp "BANG!" that was noticeably louder than the Primercord detonation. Twin C4 charges blew both those offending stumps to smithereens! A puff of grey smoke shot out above the trees and hung there. Debris made of wood splinters, stones, dirt, branches, needles and pinecones rained down around him and into the surrounding woods.
