Re: Sabre Fox's memory: Midnight sun

Golden Sparrow smiled at his friend's emotional suggestion, then nodded and glanced at the other Magnakai Master Superior.

"Raven, if you would..."

The man focused his eyes on Golden Sparrow for a moment, then just shrugged and got up, his long airs and ample cloak - a shade of light green that was almost grey, making his whole figure appear almost spectral- billowing into the night as he moved to the middle of the field.

Then, Sparrow looked up at the crowd, clearly intending to pick at least another fighter.

"Alright, let's see if there's..."

"Hey, is this a boy-only party, or can a girl join in, too?"

Both friends turned to see the slender figure of Sun Fox emerging from the shadow behind them - she was clearly coming directly from the Tower of the Sun, and the spring in her step was as carfully balanced as ever, meaning she had not drank anything tonight.

The girl looked at Golden Sparrow with a playful expression, then cocked her head to the side in a cutesy move, letting her long golden curls fall perfectly around her head even as she put up a pouting expression.

"Come on, it's not like it's going to change anything!"

From behind the two, Blazing Boar's bellow could be heard throughout the court.

"Yeah Sparrow, let the kid have a blast and play with the big boys for once!"

Golden Sparrow sighed, then just nodded, moving to the closest archery range to retrieve a bow and some quivers.

"Alright, Sun Fox, go on."

"Great!"

The girl unsheated the massive broadsword she was carrying on her back with a fluorish - it was a weapon she'd won by killing it's previous owner, a Death Knight, in a duel - and moved to the middle of the field while saying in a bellow:

"Let's fight then!"

Blazing Boar seemed to take that as the signal to start, because he roared and charged at Starfire, who quite easily dodged the attack and slashed with his sword at Boar's back, drawing a grunt from him and making a smattering of blood drops flew through the air in an arc, following the movement of his sword.

Golden Sparrow shared a worried glance with Saber Fox - normally, Starfire wouldn't have drawn blood in a spar, just hit boar with the flat of his blade on the head and knocked him out that way - but then his expression turned serious, and as he prepared an arrow, he said to his friend, in a wishper he alone could hear:

"Screen me."

So, here the battle can start! ^^

I want to give you a run down of what you're facing and what have at your side. Let's start with your allies.

Most of you all are very lightly armed, since you were at a party after all - you're only carrying the weapon you would normally have about your person in a standard situation (Lone Wolf's rule of "always be prepared for a sneak attack like Femharn: each Kai must, at all time, be armed to fight". As such, everybody has always a weapon along - unless, like Blazing Boar, they fight unarmed).

It's up to you whether this would be a normal sword, or Vigilance - though I'd honestly prefer the former, so that I can put out deciding Vigilance's effect a bit more. But if you want to have your magic sword along for the fight, I'll think something up, don't worry! :D

Since neither seems like it wouldn't be comfortable enough to walk around in it, I'm also allowing you to keep both the bracers and the waistcoat on your person, so you can fight at full potential.

For this once, I'll be allowing you not to damage your equipment even should you roll a 1. Be aware this is only because I'm nice. ;)

On his own, Golden Sparrow left both his magic bow and his magic sword back in his quarters, but he do has a common sword along and just recovered a bow.

I should mention that Golden Sparrow is unofficially recognized as the best archer in the Order - it somehow escaped me in the tale of your shared battles, but now you know.

Starfire is carrying a random sword, while Raven had his own personal magical sword about himself. It's a very slender sword with a silver, basked hilt, and a motive of white dragon engraved on the blade - it increase his magical power.

The only one heavily armored of you all is Sun Fox - she's carrying two daggers to her side, as well as a silver scimitar and, of course, the broadsword; the girl is likely getting back from some nightly training with Lone Wolf.

Let's get down to some number crunching:

Blazing Boar
:

No armor (nor wearing anything above the waist, in fact), only special equipment being a pair of magically empowered gloves that supercharge his punches with magic (but only if he fights unarmed).

Disciplines: LC of fire + Curing (5, Primate)

Improvements: Martial Arts (WM), Breeze Shield (Nex), Elemental Protection (Nex), Strength (BM Spell), Energy Grasp (BM Spell), Empowerment (BM Spell), Power Word (BM Spell)

12 CS + 7 CS (daily roll) + 4 CS (glyph gloves) + 2 CS (Strength spell) = 25 CS

24 END + 9 END (9 starting allocation) = 33 END

12 WP + 2 WP (4 starting allocation) = 14 WP

Silver Raven:

Normal habits, special equipment being his shoulder-padded cloak (magic stones under the hem and a magic linen that connect them) that he created himself, and his magic sword, "Dragon's Song".

Dragon's Song powers: +2 CS for five combat rounds by paying 1 WP to make the air around the sword vibrate slightly; also, it can drain 2 END from the user to recover 5 WP as a special attack action.

Disciplines: Weaponsmastery (Sword, Dagger), Kai-Alchemy, Craftsmanship. (3 MM Superior). Also, Weaponskill is with Sword.

Improvements: Nimble Slash (WM battle trick), Repairing at Will (CM), Fusion (CM), Lightning Hand (KA spell), Summon Water (KA Spell), Counterspell (KA spell), Sense Evil (KA Spell), Net (KA spell), Mist (KA spell), Freeze (KA spell)

10 CS + 6 CS (dayly roll) + 1 CS (Weaponskill sword) + 2 CS (Dragon's song) = 19 CS

24 END + 1 END (1 starting allocation) = 25 END

12 WP + 6 WP (12 starting allocation) + 5 WP (cloak's extra WP reserve) = 23 WP

Sun Fox:

Special Equipment: White Silver Chainmail (+1 CS, +2 END), Silver Diadem (+5 extra WP), Jade Armlets (+1 CS, +1 END, +1 WP), Kagonite Broadsword (+1 CS, +2 damage, -2 additional fatigue CS reduction after end combat), Silver Scimitar (spell imbued with the "Lighting Hand" spell, -1 WP to activate, Lone Wolf's gift)

Disciplines: LC of Fire + Psy Surge (WM: Sword, Broadsword) (5 discipline: Primate) Also, Weaponskill is with Broadsword.

Improvements: Dagger (WM additional weapon), Fire Dominion (Nex), One-handed Wielding (WM), Flaming Blade (BM spell), Strength (BM spell), Empowerment (BM spell), Invisible Shield (BM spell), Arrow Deflection (Nex), Breeze Shield (Nex), Weapon Throwing (WM), Point Black Range Throw (WM battle trick).

12 CS + 9 (8+2) CS (dayly roll + 6 starting allocation), + 1 CS (weaponskill broadsword) + 3 CS (equipment) + 2 CS (Strenght spell) = 27 CS

24 END + 1 END (1 starting allocation) + 3 END (equipment) = 27 END

12 WP + 3 WP (6 starting allocation) + 6 WP (equipment) = 21 WP

Golden Sparrow:

No special equipment worth noting

Disciplines: LC Fire + Herbmastery, Pathsmanship, Invisibility (WM: Bow, Sword). Also, his weaponskill is in Bow.

Improvements: Quick-firing into Melee (WM battle tricks), Flaming Blade (BM spell), Flameshaft (BM spell), Energy Burst (BM spell), Empowerment (BM spell), Penetrate (BM spell), Fire dominion (Nex), Telescopic sight (H), Night vision (H) Strenght (BM spell), Dodge (H), Empowered Recall (Nex), Armor Knowledge (WM)

12 CS + 6 (4+2) CS (daily roll + 6 starting allocation) - 4 CS (currently using bow) = 14 CS

24 END + 1 END (1 starting allocation) = 25 END

12 WP + 3 WP (6 starting allocation) = 15 WP

Yeah, Golden Sparrow might look like the weakest one, but that's just because he's not well equipped and he's meeleing - when the moment comes for him to melee, you'll see he's better than Boar and Raven for certain.

Beside, there's a reason if the thread is named "Midnight Sun" and not "Midnight Sparrow".

Anyway, I don't feel like making the same list for Starfire, but I'll do give you his stats:

CS 29, END 28, WP 24 - he's just as unequipped as you lot are, remember that.

Anyway, the battle started already - Fox used the first turn to cast strenght on herself, while both Boar and Starfire had done that before the start of the battle, so Boar attacked; his Combat Ratio is -4 and he rolled a 3, but Starfire used a Dodge (Huntmastery improvement) to avoid any damage and hit.

So, you've now the choice on wheter to attack first, then backing away while Raven has his go, or let him strike first and the charge in.

Either way, Sparrow will go last - he'd said to screen, so he's likely planning an arrow strike on Starfire after your attacks have him confused, and before he can target Sparrow himself.

Oh, and if you have suggestion on what you want the others to do, feel free to shout them! ;)

Current Situation:

Blazing Boar: 30/33 END, 10/14 WP, -4 CR
Silver Raven: 25/25 END, 23/23 WP, -10 CR
Sun Fox: 27/27 END WP 17/21 WP, -2 CR
Saber Fox: 29/29 END, 14/14 WP, -8 CR
Golden Sparrow: END 25/25, 15/15 WP, -15 CR

Starfire: END 28/28, WP: 20/24

Re: Sabre Fox's memory: Midnight sun

Sabre Fox reached to his and drew his sword and for a moment he brought the sword up to his face and peered into the steel. It was not what he expected, he could not see his reflection like with Vigiliance. He could almost see it sat on the pedastal he had made for his sword in his room, the moonlight glinting on its steel.

But still, he allowed himself focus. Starfire was a leathal opponent, and if he was unlucky tonight, he could quite easily be killed by a drunken Magnakai. He knew that Starfire even completely drunk was probabally faster than most Kai Master's, so he decided the best tactic was a simple head on rush before Starfire could gather his wits about him.

"Get ready for this one Sparrow. Lets see if I can knock him back a few notches" Fox said with a wink.

Rushing forward, Sabre Fox charged his superior feeling the adrenaline pumping through him, he felt like his skill in Huntmastery was giving him more stamina to propel him forward faster to pounce his Master........

Just a frontal assault for this first round. CS is 21 + 1 for Weaponskill = 22 and 1dmg extra from swords. Rolled a nice starting 7 for first round!

Now then, onto the technical stuff. Nothing was said about if Mindblast can be used. Now I can imagine that Starfire would be able to repel it with Psi-Screen, but if its valid, ill activate that for the extra 2CS. If not then will the psychic stun work instead? Or once again will Psi-Screen prevent that?

I also decided to use the sword combat trick. Since a ratio of 7/8 give the same results, it seems silly to boost Fox's CS to 22 when it will make no difference, so essentially the 1CS I get from Weaponskill will give me a +1 to a roll in a later round.

Now I was also gonna consider using the ability of Nexus to 'push' things five times as big as the user. Even if it wont physcially move Starfire, it might at least catch him off guard for a round to make this strike a bit fiercer. Im not sure if it can be used in that way, but it seemed a good suggestion!

Ive only posted this first round since the others have already made thier actions. Do you want me to post the rest of the rounds? If so then ill put some suggestions up for the others too and post the other rounds

Re: Sabre Fox's memory: Midnight sun

You won't get any bonus for your psychic attacks, because anything you can do, Starfire's Psy-Screen can counter, that much is true.

However, do remember: much as Psy-Surge and Mindblast draw WP to use, Psy-Screen and Mindshield cost WP to activate, too. It'll basically turn into you spending WP to drain Starfire's own reserves to stop the attack. Check the Disciplines thread, make your math, and decides wheter it's worth it to you.

The others just opted not to try it - after all, Starfire isn't using his own mind powers yet, they don't want to risk drawing his attention since, having just mastered the Lorecircle of Spirit, he's capable of blasting you all at the same time... however, he might be too drunk to realize what's going on. It'd be a gamble: be careful deciding! :)

I'll note down that you're using the sword combat trick... that's a smart move on your part! Remember that it costs 1 WP to activate. You're free to increase any of the upcoming five rolls.

We'll be doing this one round at a time - I doubt it'll get any much "boss fight" than the strongest Kai alive, don't you agree? ;)

Lastly, I think I should rephrase my question on your action: I just wanted to know if you were going before or after Silver Raven! ^^

So, we'll go 1 round with you lot and Starfire all getting one action - though he won't roll, you lot all will. Also, given the nature of this combat, you can take one special attack action every round; that's a considerable boost to your action in my opinion.

So, let me know if you're using any psychic skill, and wheter you're going before or after Raven, and then we'll play the second round! ^^

Re: Sabre Fox's memory: Midnight sun

Well some reasoning is gonna come after this round is complete!

Ill hold off on psychic skills for the time being then. I mean, if I can control the others, perhaps in a round or two I can get them all to do a combined psychic attack? Five Magnakai blasting him psychically will surely drain his WP! But for now, ill hold off

Ill go after Raven, because really Fox wants to get Starfire in a postion for Sparrow to strike.

Also, where are the special actions? I seemed to have missed that?

Re: Sabre Fox's memory: Midnight sun

It's one of the additions I made to the rules to make the game more interesting - read the part of the game rules about combat, it's all explained there.

With Huntmastery, you're actually able to use the combat attacks quite a bit, with the "acrobatic manouvers" part of the skill... that's how Starfire avoided any damage from Boar's attack - he used "Dodge", which is the most powerful special attack in the list of Huntmastery improvements.

All of the Weaponsmastery "combat tricks" are special attacks, too.

Anyway, if you go after Raven...

Noticing that Sabre Fox seemed to be waiting his move, Raven made a nod to him and whispered, his tone slow:

"Just charge, I'll make him an easier target."

And, while Sabre moved, Raven pointed his sword toward Starfire, as if aiming at him, and then slashed the air; a globe of wated suddenly appeared over the newly minted Sun Knight's head, drenchin him whole and filling him with confusion... and leaving him open for Sabre Fox wide slash, with opened a deep wound over his leg.

Starfire roared at the sudden pain and punched blindly, barely grazing Fox's shoulder - but the power of the spell he was under sufficed to make the punch pack enough of a power to send Fox flying through the air.

However, doiong this, he cleared Sparrow's line of sight, and the other Kai left out his arrow; arrow that caught fire as it flew, exploding in front of Starfire with thunderous power and blasting him to the ground - though the attack power was enough that even the closer of the five fighter, Blazing Boar, was slightly staggered by it's power.

So, Raven used Summon Water, wich for a price of 3 WP, reduced the damage inflicted by Starfire by 1, as well as giving a +1 boost to the following roll on behalf of Starfire's confusion - since you're going after Raven, I'm giving the +1 to your 7, pushing it to 8.

I believe that to mean you take 2 damage, and inflict 6, right?

Also, Sparrow used Flameshaft and his arrow exploded, hitting Starfire at full power (14 END damage) and staggering Boar (3 END damage). Since he's not in close combat, Sparrow's Combat Ratio doesn't matter here; he'd have to roll for hitting, but he's got enough Bow bonus and the shot was easy enough that it'd have auto-succeeeded anyway.

So, here we go into the results:

Blazing Boar: 27/33 END, 10/14 WP, -4 CR
Silver Raven: 25/25 END, 20/23 WP, -10 CR
Saber Fox: 27/29 END, 13/14 WP, -8 CR
Golden Sparrow: 25/25 END, 12/15 WP, -15 CR
Sun Fox: 27/27 END, 17/21 WP, -2 CR

Starfire: 8/28 END, 20/24 WP

Do not think it's over... remember, Starfire has Curing, and he'll go first next round.

Tell me what you're planning to do; the order will be the same as this round (Boar first, then Fox, then Raven, last Sparrow), and while you're not close enough to go before Boar, you can put your action anywhere else in the order.

Oh, and of course, if you want any of the characters to try something else, let them know! :)

Re: Sabre Fox's memory: Midnight sun

Sabre Fox raised an eyebrow. For once he was puzzled, Starfire seemed to be actually quite......... pathetic really. He knew that the Magnakai was drunk, but he expected him to put up more of a fight that this. Even the Grand Master had put up a better fight in worse situations that this.

Even so Fox knew not to let his guard down, this could all be a ploy by Starfire to get them in a false sense of security. Sabre Fox's sword touched the scar lightly on his forehead. He would not do that again.

Fox decided that this time, a bit of flair was in order in his combat style. He decided he was going to get behind Starfire to strike, and a bit of his skill in Huntmastery should help that

Right, Fox is going for an Acrobatic Maneuver of Huntmastery. He will charge Starfire, and at the very last minute make a flying sommersault leap over the Magnakai's head to land on the other side and attack from the rear. This should confuse Starfire during the attack, and leave him wide open to attacks on both sides

I see what you mean about the abilitys know. They are in the disciplines section but explained in the rules section. Got it. Im not doing anything else with anyone at the moment, leaving them to thier own devices until things hit the fan! Although I would have them follow up on Fox's daring ability to attack so Fox will go as soon as he can!

Would you like a party favour? Mine appear to be lucky 7's :) Rolled another one for that! Now, Hunting is a -1WP for extreme feats and agility. Huntmastery is -3WP for this, so is that a better chance of success? Or is it even better with the +3 to the Huntmastery roll? Either way with a 7, I think its pretty much successful.

Re: Sabre Fox's memory: Midnight sun

I'll point out that most of the damage was done by Sparrow - and Starfire is not going to let another arrow hit. Calling him patetic is a bit unwise.

Beside, he's far from defeated! You'll see... :D

Assitionally, Hunting doesn't allow you to use an acrobatic manouver - it's only for out of combat use. Huntmastery's combat manouvers - the ones who count as special attack and are usable in combat - cost 3 WP, and don't get the +3 bonus to the roll because that bonus only works for "Hunting level" abilities.

Lastly, when you use a combat ability, you renounce to the chance of inflict damage; and you can still take it. Somersaulting above Starfire would likely give a bonus to whomever went after you because of the distraction... but that's at the price of not damaging him yourself.

Unless you want to use the manouver to gain an advantage to your own attack next turn... wich one is it?

Right. Since ive got such a low CS ratio, ill give the bonus to Sun Fox who will follow after Sabre Fox. He is only a -2 so hopefully he can capitalise on this act the most

Internal monolgue! He didnt think of it as clear cut as that! He feels he seemed a bit of a pushover in the first round, but Fox does know better

Re: Sabre Fox's memory: Midnight sun

I should point out, Sun Fox is a girl. I thought that was clear...?

As the smoke of the explosion slowly dispersed, they could hear an uproar of laugh come from the position, even as the figure of Starfire slowly got up to his feat.

"Ah, 'hat 'as a slick attack! 'lmost 'owned me!"

As the smoke cleared, Starfire was standing still, an ample smile on his face even as the faint shimmer over his muscled form showed the minor burns received from the explosion quickly fading. He then bellowed, long enough for everybody in the area to know:

"'till, 'ou'r 'oing 'o need s'm'thing better to win!"

A roar answered the comment, as Blazing Boar charged; but, as Starfire turned toward him, eyes shining with power, the other Magnakai stumpled, and Starfire punched him strongly in the face, sending him flying backwards.

"'hat 'in't 'oing to work, 'll pr'dict it."

That was when the sound of running steps incoming make them known; he swirled to himself, and there was blood on the blade, but his opponent wasn't anywhere to be seen.

"'hat..."

"Take this, big guy!"

With that scream, Sun Fox landed in front of Starfire, unleashing a powerful downward slash with her sword; the Sun Knight was too surprised by the sudden appearance of her - distracted as he was by locating the one target who had yet to block, but the surprise made him stumble back, so the cut wasn't as deep as it could have been.

The confusion on his face, though, disappeared when he heard the sound of energy fizzling in the air; he turned in the direction it was coming from, raising his hand almost instinctively, and the dart of bluish fire dispersed itself against a barrier of energy... and the same barrier stopped the arrow that had been unleashed by Golden Sparrow at the same time, turning it to dust.

So, while I'm allowing you lot to use a special action with every move you make, Starfire is still limited to only one, since he's only getting the one round. Be glad for that; I might be changing this rule for future bosses.

First of all, the healing surge activate automatically - it's not under the user's control - so he lost 5 WP but was brought back to full END at the start of the turn.

Then, he activated Psy-Surge - this is a boost, like the +1 CS for using a weaponskill weapon, so it doesn't count as his one ability for the round. Luckily, he's drunk enough to forget he can focus on more than one target at a time. So, he used it only on the first attacker - Blazing Boar - making his CS fall from -4 to -8; on a roll of 2, he took no damage, and inflicted 6. Also, since Starfire has Inner Focus, the move only costed 2 WP, instead of 4.

You then distracted him with your acrobatic manouver, taking -5 END damage for your trouble (+1 for Weaponsmastery here), wich gave Sun Fox a +3 on her roll, turning her 5 into an 8. She's also got a massive +3 to damage with the Broadsword, so that's 14 END that Starfire lost this round.

Lastly, he used his one special action this turn to cast Invisible Shield, wich stopped both Raven's Lightning Hand and Golden Sparrow's arrow.

Current Situation:

Blazing Boar: 21/33 END, 10/14 WP -8 CR
Silver Raven: 25/25 END, 20/23 WP -10 CR
Saber Fox: 22/29 END, 13/14 WP, -8 CR
Sun Fox: 27/27 END, 17/21 WP, -2 CR
Golden Sparrow: 25/25 END, 12/15 WP, -14 CR

Starfire: 15/28 END, 11/24 WP

Re: Sabre Fox's memory: Midnight sun

Sabre Fox would have tipped his hat if he was wearing one. Starfire even when blind drunk was a force to be reckoned with. He had shrugged off thier attacks and come back fighting. But the tactician in Sabre Fox realised something, he must be wearing his own reserves down. To defend so well against five Magnakai's brutal assaults would hard press anyones inner reserves. Sabre Fox decided to sieze the advantage.

By the time he had already moved himself back into position, the cut on his lower left hand side had already stopped bleeding thanks to his own innate Healing skills, but he could already feel it would leave a mark for a few weeks, however he was enjoying himself too much and he might even add others to his wound count!

Charging forward he readied his blade into a brutal overhead slash.

"Show me your strength Master!" Sabre Fox cried as he charged.

Im starting to think I might actually win this! Well at least not go down before long. Rolled a 9! Just a small point, but if I used to weapon trick to increase the roll, that would make it a 0 no doubt? Im not going to because im saving that for a bad round, but just asking.

Everyone once again is free to do their own thing. We are fighting well as a team as it is.

Re: Sabre Fox's memory: Midnight sun

Alright, so I'll have you go first - it would be a shame to waste the 9. And yes, if you used the +1 on it, it would become a 0.

After stopping the attack, Starfire was unprepared for the hit that come from his side, slashing at his leg in another hit meant to disabilitate him; however, he was not surprised enough to not retaliate, his weapon swinging wildly and biting into Saber Fox's forearm, preventing him to press the advantage.

Sun Fox had readied her Kagonite Broadsword and was charging, and Blazing Boar getting back to his feet, but Starfire was clearly annoyed as he roared, his voice thundering despite the wounds on his body.

" 'nough!"

The air seemed to swirl around him, as if compacting itself, and then exploded forward with brutal power, enough to hit all three meleer fighters with full power and trowhing them around like ragdolls, even the massive Blaze Boar.

Then, while the three Magnakai were yet recovering from the brutal blast, Starfire charged Silver Raven; the platinum aired Kai, although surprised, was quick enough to raise his sword, but Starfire grabbed it in his hand, uncaring of the blood trickling through his fingers, and raised his weapon to strike the other Mangakai down in a hit that would have quite likely been lethal.

However, before he could complete the attack, an arrow hit the sword, breaking it in a rain of shards, and Starfire glanced in Golden Sparrow's direction for a moment, surprised by the amazing shot... right before dropping the sword and letting a brutal downward chop fall onto the neck of his opponent, whom weapon he was still grabbing.

"Let's see if you can dodge this!"

Sun Fox words attracted Starfire's attention, and he turned... to see the girl point an open hand toward him and summoning a fury of wind to throw forward a susprised Blazing Boar, making him cover the quite big distance between the two of them in a matter of seconds.

Even despite the girl's quick-thinking, though, it wasn't quite fast enough as Starfire, still holding Raven, quikly somersaulted behind him, letting the young boy take the hit in his stead. The younger Kai fell to the ground, dropping his weapon, and even as the shimmering light of him recovering from the previous wound, Starfire let out a loud shout as Sparrow's next arrow only nicked his shoulder slightly.

" 'eem l'ke I 'an!"

So, run-dow of what happened here:

You hit Starfire with your sword; that was -8 END to him and -3 to you (again, his +1 from Weaponskill is at work here, much like yours is).

Then, he used Nexus's Wind Blast, sending you all tumbling to the ground and nullifying your following rolls; then he engaged Silve Raven, who rolled a 4.

Golden Sparrow's used Penetrate on his shot to destroy Starfire's sword.

At this point, Starfire was under 10 END, so Healing Surge activated again.

Then was the next turn, where your roll was neutered by the lasting effects of Wind Push (we'll say you were carefully moving closer to were Starfire was), and Fox went first, using Nexus to push Blazing Boar as a projectile in what would have been her special attack for the round.

However, Starfire used an acrobatic manouver with Huntmastery to put Silver Raven in the trajectory; given the situation, I considered the effect of the manouver to force a roll of 1 on both Boar and Raven, wich dropped the latter and highly damaged the former (who is still under Psy-Surge's effect).

Sparrow last roll was a 1, but with his bonuses, he still managed to nick 1 END from Starfire.

And now it's back to you, with the situation as following:

Blazing Boar: 13/33 END, 10/14 WP, -8 CR
Silver Raven: OUT OF THE FIGHT
Sun Fox: 27/27 END, 15/21 WP, -2 CR
Saber Fox: 19/29 END, 10/14 -8 CR
Golden Sparrow: 25/25 END, 5/15 WP, -14 CR

Starfire: 25/28 END, 0/24 WP, and he's now wielding Dragon's Song.

What's your next move?

Re: Sabre Fox's memory: Midnight sun

Sabre Fox rolled backwards onto his feet at his Master's ability of Nexus. He hoped himself to have such great skill someday, but for now, he had to keep this fight going. Starfire was panting, he must have used all of his inner reserves by now. Now was truly the time to strike.

Charging in again to press the advantage. Rolled a 7 for this. But now is the time to truly take it to Starfire.

It looks like he has burned out his WP in the first three rounds. Good rolls have kept Fox in this and I think now is time to bust out the psychic/magic skills from everyone and go in full throttle.

He wont be able to activate Psi-Screen so that should put my CS ratio up by 2 if Fox activates Mindblast now. And the rest with all there impressive tricks can truly do some damage.

Now I know that its not gonna be as simple if he has drew his only magical blade, but its worth a try

Re: Sabre Fox's memory: Midnight sun

He hasn't drawn his own personal magical blade, he doesn't even has it along; he just picked up Silver Raven's own.

Still, that's going to give you plenty of trouble, worry you not... :)

Even as Sabre Fox and Sun Fox rushed toward him to strike, Starfire looker at the blade in his hand with a certain focus, as if weighing its strenght; then, all of a sudden, three spiraling dragons of energy rolled out of the sword and along Starfire's arm, then entering it with a shudder.

He smiled, and even as he felt something tugging at his mind, he swatted it away like a fly, and turned in the direction of the incoming fighter, the magic blade he was wielding suddenly vibrating with power and, a moment later, getting covered in shining silver flames.

" 'et's 'ry 'his!"

Sabre Fox jumped to the side to avoid the blade that was now on fire, slashing Starfire's side in the process, but even if he got hit by nothing more than a glancing blow, the flame whreating the weapon were enough to savage him with enormous pain.

Before Starfire could take advantage of Fox's spasm, though, Blazing Boar charged the Sun Knight, his fist filled with crackling electricity as he swung toward his opponent. Starfire, however, took the punch with a grunt and, with a sudden thrust, the Dragon's Song was inside Blazing Boar's abdomen.

As he retreated the sword and his opponent fell to the ground, Starfire muttered, with a certain satisfaction in his voice:

" 'hat 'll 'each 'ou..."

"We're not gonna lose like this!"

Sun Fox's cry was filled with a mixture of boast and joy as her blade, now sheated in silver flames, clashed with that of Starfire's; the flame exploded around the two fighters, singing them both, but after a moment, despite his smaller blade, Starfire simply pushed back the young girl, who tumbled and ended up alongside the other Fox in the group, shooking her head slightly.

" 'nd now..."

The two young Kai turned to look at the form of Starfire that was bearing above them, his blonde hairs and beard menacing in the reflected light of the silver flames, but before any could act, a figure suddenly hit him at charging speed, tumbling on the ground and then pushing him away, coming to a stop near the other two Kai still in fighting condition.

Golden Sparrow let ouf a cough as he got up on his knee, then turned a noticeably singed face over to his best friend with a grin.

"I do believe you're rubbing off on me too much, Sabre."

Then, his eyes turned toward starfire and he added, his voice getting more somber:

"We need to win this quickly... with a wound like that, Boar might die."

He pointedly looked at the big Magnakai who seemed to be having troubles getting back to his feer, then made a gesture with his head toward Silver Raven's sword, that was now laying on the ground a fed dozen feet to their left, were it had ended up when Sparrow had made it fall from Starfire's hand.

"If he get hold of that thing again, we won't win; however, I think I can stop him from doing that, but he'll likely take me out. After that, Sabre, you need to get him to focus on you, so that Sun Fox can strike. Do you think you can?"

It was clear, in Sparrow's eye, that he knew what he was asking for from his friend.

So... run down of the fight! :)

Going first, Starfire used Dragon's Song special attack and paid 6 END to recover 15 WP. Then, he activated a smattering of boosts (-1 WP to use Mindshield and stop your Mindblast, -4 WP to activate Flaming Blade, -1 WP to use Dragon's Song other power that give him a +2 CS, for a total of -7 WP spent here), thus, once all his bonuses are added, he gets a total of +3 to damage and +2 to CS.

This mean that, when you, Sabre Fox, get the first attack in, it is on a -10 CR, and you lose -8 END, while he only get a -5 END.

Then there's Blazing Boar, who's unlucky enough to roll a 2. 8 damage +3 make it a total of -11 END, wich takes him down to 2 END.

Sun Fox spent her own 4 WP to make the sword burn, getting a +2 damage bonus, and rolls a 5; however, her combat ratio is now -4, so she inflicts both of them -7 END.

Sparrow, seeing this, tries something crazy. Normally, Weaponsmastery makes you impossible to disarm if you're wielding your favored weapon, but he decides to not just attempt the manouver and so not inflict damage, but also get twice the damage he'd have inflicted on himself for the move to be allowed. Also, Starfire his drunk, so it's plausible he wouldn't have as strong a grip as normal.

Golden Sparrow still need a 0 to manage the move, but he does, getting a full -12 END in the process, as well as spending the -3 WP needed for the manouver as normal.

And, just to make it all more fun, Starfire's healing surge activate again, bringin him back to almost top form. However, he's now unarmed - that's the only reason you might still have a chance to take him down. You need to keep it that way.

End Results:

Silver Raven: OUT OF THE FIGHT
Blazing Boar: 2/33 END, 7/14 WP
Golden Sparrow: 13/25 END, 2/15 WP
Sabre Fox: 11/29 END, 9/14 WP
Sun Fox: 20/27 END, 11/21 WP

Starfire: 27/28 3/24 WP

Back to you! ^^

Re: Sabre Fox's memory: Midnight sun

Sabre Fox gave a nod to his friend with a wry smile

"Im sure I can do something nice and flash again!"

Once again, going for another Huntmastery Maneuveur. This time im gonna charge him head on, and roll to the side to escape. That way his focus will be on Fox for the moment, so Sun Fox can strike with a bonus.

Since it seems like Sparrow is going first with what he said, ill let him go first with whatever he is planning.

If all else fails and it looks like he will get the weapon, ill use the Nexus 'Push' to blast the sword away from Starfire.

With that in mind I rolled a 7! Since it seems like a critical plan, im gonna push that up to an 8 with the Weaponmastery ability.

Re: Sabre Fox's memory: Midnight sun

Golden Sparrow nodded grimly, then he unsheated his sword, the blade glinting in the reflected light of Sun Fox's flaming blade.

"Then let's do it!"

And, without any further thought, he darted forward, grabbing his weapon with two hands and charging at Starfire with a scream; the still confused magnakai lashed out instinctively with a kick, but Sparrow jumped over it, thrusting his weapon on the outer side of his Master's shoulder, and then pushing over, dragging him away for a good dozen feet.

Howeve, the manouver let him totally exposed, and Starfire had clearly not been hurt badly enough, for he rolled upon himself, crashing Sparrow's body under his own before grabbing and tossing him away, in the process breaking the blade of Sparrow's sword inside his wound.

Before Starfire could recover, a roar came from Blazing Boar, whom fist, crackling with energy, hit Starfire squarely in the chest, making him roar; however, the man was far from downed, and he suddenly grabbed the offending arm with both hands and, with a susprising move, arched his own body and threw Blazing Boar above his head, and the man hit the ground with a sickening sound of broken bones.

That was when Sabre Fox charged at him, as if to strike him directly; Starfire prepared himself to tnak the attack, but at the last moment, the Magnakai rolled to the ground, instead pointing his finger at Starfire's shoulde... and pushing the broken blade that was still embedded inside his shoulder through the wound and then out of it, pushing it all the way outside.

The sudden, unexpected strike made Starfire drop to the ground with a painful scream, as blood gushed through the wound, and then Sun Fox's voice resonated through the ground, her tone excited and deadly.

"We're not going to surrender, you'll see what we're capable of!"

The young woman drew her scimitar, making the blade run above that of the Broadsword - that she was now wielding one-handed - so that the silver flames sheated it as well; as she did so, the flames from the two weapon raised in the air, and then stopped there, coalescing into six burning orbs that made her face shine in a beautiful, deadly light.

"Fire!"

The fireballs darted through the air and to their target with impresive speed; Strfire raised his hand to once again call up the invisible shield, but the pain from Sabre Fox attack had slowed his movements, and so the first two projectiles managed to hit him squarely, sending him down to his knees once again.

Sun Fox gritted her teet, then started to waive her swords into a complex arc, as if building more fire, while she shouted, her voice still helding some excitation:

"Just give me another free shot, and I'll drop him, I swear!"

This was an awesome run I think! ^^

First of all was Sparrow. He doesn't get the +1 CS from sword (his weaponskill is in bow), and even with Starfire's CS reduced to 28 because he hasn't the bonuses from the sword, that's still a -10 CR.

He decided to use a combat acrobatic manouver to both push Starfire's away from Silver Raven's weapon and put you in the position of succeeding at wathever manouver you attempted; since he had not the full 3 WP, I decided I'll break his weapon to allow the move.

His roll was a 5, which means that he's succesfull because he managed to inflict damage - even if the combat manouver attempt means that Starfire doesn't actually lose anything here - and he got a -6 END for his troubles.

Then, Blazing Boar does his last attack, and rolls a 8 - his best roll of the fight, I believe, and the shocking grasp spell gives him a +3 damage too. However, he's still under Psy-Surge's effect - the five rounds haven't passed yet, remember - so he's still at -8 CR, and even with an 8, that's enough to take him out of the battle for good. He still inflicts a massive 9 points of damage, though.

Then it's your turn; I rule that you're using the Nexus push on a blade, but not on Dragon's Song - since Sparrow removed that danger with his manouver - but instead the one Sparrow put in Starfire's shoulder. Your damage for this turn his waived because of the succesfull manouver of Sparrow, and your CR would be -8, so that's an additional 6 damage you inflict, while taking none.

After that Sun Fox has her chance to shine. First of all, she's passed to dual wielding so she get her two extra rolls, a 2 and a 0. She rolls and get a 6; then spend 5 WP to pull her Fire Dominion trick, producing a number of fireballs equal to her roll, so six.

Starfire, however, still hasn't used his combat ability for this round, and he does so now, raising invisible shield. This would, normally, have stopped the full brunt of Sun Fox's attack, but as your specified purpose was to make her attack better, and you were succesfull, two spheres hit Starfire all the same, for -2 END each.

Current situation:

Silver Raven: OUT OF THE FIGHT
Blazing Boar: OUT OF THE FIGHT
Golden Sparrow: 7/25 END, 0/15 WP, -10 CR
Sabre Fox: 11/29 END, 7/14 WP, -8 CR
Sun Fox: 20/27 END, 6/21 WP, -2 CR

Starfire: 8/28 END, 1/24 WP

Obviously, next turn, Sun Fox will use her dual-rolled 0; if your attack is good enough to complely catch Starfire's attention, that'll give her a bonus big enough that no defense he could attempt would be able to stop her from winning.

You're almost there! :D

Re: Sabre Fox's memory: Midnight sun

Sabre Fox was panting hard. The fight had been tough on everyone, and he knew this was his last round to try and make a difference. He felt almost like whatever he did know was not going to be good enough, but still he had to try. Rushing forward Sabre Fox made a loud warcry, hoping to try and gain his Master's attention so that Sun Fox and Golden Sparrow could strike.

At the last minute, he once again tried a roll, this time to the Master's other side to confuse him, he almost could feel this was not going to work, but still he pushed on, forcing through all his strength grab the masters attention.

Trying a maneuver again. Rolled a 1 this time :( Was bound to happen eventually! Is his Psi-Screen still up? Even if it is ill use Mindblast to try and get his attention to improve Sun Fox's chances. Also ill use the Nexus Push again on Starfire, again to try and rally his attention.

Its down to the others now!

Re: Sabre Fox's memory: Midnight sun

" 's'nt 'oing to w'kr 'wice!"

Starfire was laughing as he slurred his words out, and he moved to grab Saber Fox; however, before he could, Fox heard a strong shoulder pushing him out of the way, and he could barely glimpse Golden Sparrow's mouthing to him something that looked decidedly like "you owe me one" as his friend took the hit for him, being blasted into one of the wooden archery stall, breaking the wood as he impacted them and falling down, unconscious.

Starfire looked at Sparrow with a prideful expression that could be discerned even through the confusion of the alchool, as he commented:

" 'aht's my boy..."

Then, with a shrugh, he turned toward Sabre, but before he could attack, a wall of silver fire sprung to life in front of him; both his and Sabre's eyes followed the fire to it's origin - a silver scimitar whose tip was held in the hand of a girl smiling smugly.

"I don't think so!"

Starfire turned his attention toward Sun Fox, and with a loud bellow, the man chraged; the girl, however, sweat forming on her forhead, started to spun on herself.

For a moment, it seemed as if the girl was going to be trampled by Starfire, but as the man jumped, he was suddenly pushed away by a strong wind current; Sun Fox noticed Saber's outstretched hand and winked at the help, then, with one last spun, she shouted:

"TAKE THIS!"

And the walls of flames suddenly circled around the sun knight, trapping him in a spiraling hurricane of silver fire; then Sun Fox, her golden curls widly billowing in the wind, made a single motion with her blades, and any drop of fire that was burning in small specks all over the field suddenly coalesced in small spheres and darted toward the columm of flame, and as they all impacted it together, it exploded, in a shining blast that left everybody stunned for a moment.

When the smoke cleared, Starfire was still on his feet, a surprised expression on his face, most of his clothes either tattered or burned and the signs of the fire everywhere on his body, and he even took a trembling step forward before falling to the ground, his slowly moving chest signifyig that he was alive, but his still body proving he wasn't going to get up again.

Sun Fox was panting heavily, clearly drained by the exertion of unleash such a savage fire attack on her target; she looked dwon at him with an almost confused expression, then glanced at Sabre Fox, who had slowly limped toward her, and asked, her voice carrying a slight tremble of surprise:

"Did... did we won?"

Tah-Dah! That was awesome to write.

So, I was keeping this in reserve and wasn't certain if I'd use it or not - if you had rolled a bit worse in the course of the battle, I'd have let he drop you at the 1, but since you did so well, I decided you deserved to still be up, if not really in shape to fight anymore.

Thusly, I used the special effect that Golden Sparrow would have had if he was a NPC and part of your group: he took his roll and exchanged it with yours (this only work when you get a roll of 1, is literally a "taking the hit for a friend" skill) at the price of pushing you out of the way (you lost an inconsequential -2 END). Then, Sun Fox used her 0 and spent 5 more WP to launch a fire-dominion attack once again; for the move to work, though, she needed Starfire to not be on Melee with her, or she'd have hit herself as well - and she'd took 4 END damage from the closeness to the flames since she hadn't learned elemental resistance yet at this point in time, and would have took another 4 at the start of the next turn, so she was in real danger when he attacked.

And that's when you used you Nexus ability to push Starfire out of the way and make her attack succeed; this costed you 2 WP and depended on the roll Sparrow had switched with you to succeed... and he gave you a 0.

As said, I could have keept Sparrow alive and have him use the ability, but you performed well enough that I decided you deserved your chance to shine.

By the way, your conditions at the end of the battle:

Sun Fox: 16/27 END, 1/21 WP
Saber Fox: 9/29 END, 5/14 WP

And you both would have took the -4 END damage from the closeness fire the next round, plus Sun Fox would have had to withstand the result of her melee with Starfire, had Sparrow's roll being 7 or less.

Do you think you two would have survived another round? I might change Sparrow's roll and gave you a chance to find out if you want! :)

Otherwise, you won! Congratulations.

Give me a quick snip of Saber's reaction to having won the battle - you can't take any action, since I have Sun Fox's and the observers' reactions coming, so the time for anything physical would be those few second of sunned silence that will take the people to realize you actually won, but you can give an answer to Sun's question and perhaps add a small comment.

Also, you're limping because of the way you fell when Sparrow pushed you out of the way. ^^

Re: Sabre Fox's memory: Midnight sun

Sabre Fox could hardly believe it...... Starfire was down and he was still standing! He had half expected to be knocked out of the fight first, but he had outlasted much stronger Magnakai than himself!

He could almost envision now the rest of the Order. The men practically begging him to teach him to be like him, the women swooning over him, the celebrations that would follow and the feast and wine as they all toasted thier victory.......... he allowed himself a moment of serenity for a moment in this. Part of him wished he had Vigilance in this battle, it would have seemed more appropriate, but he was glad he did it the old fashioned way, and good old brawl under his own power

Sun Fox's question brought him back to reality and he gave her a wry smile and a wink

"Kicked his arse" He said, before dropping his sword and falling onto his knees in exhaustion.

Sabre Fox was gasping for breath, he immediately set to work, drawing on what was left of his inner reserves to focus on his Healing skill to try and mend some of the wounds he had given and the battle fatigue. He knew he was going to sleep well tonight!

Looking around, he looked around for Sparrow, who had taken the hit for him during his last attempt to fell Starfire. He owed his friend one in this one, but of course, they had some bragging rights before long.

Thats it! Ill wait till everyones reactions for now, chances are he will talk to Sun Fox and Sparrow about the battle. And we wernt gonna last another round, that was literally the last stand as I expected!

Re: Sabre Fox's memory: Midnight sun

Saber Fox's words seemed to registed with Sun Fox; they shook her out of her stupor, at least.

"We won... WE WON!"

The girl let out a scream of joy and jumped up, overjoyed, even as a murmur started to spread among the crowd, and the she raised her saber in triumph, prompting a roar of applauses from everybody.

"We did it! We did it!"

It was clear that, despite her boastful demeanor, the young girl hadn't actually expected to win - she was bursting with energy, so much so that, when she saw Saber getting up, she autmatically throw her arms around his neck, kissing him passionately on his mouth for a long moment.

When she finally took a step back, the Kai Lady realzed what she'd done, her eyes widening in disbelief, and she retreated quickly with a flustered expression on her face and muttering apologies while the crown exploded in laughter.

Then, a deep, silken voice cut through the group, imposing its presence with just the natural gravity it carried.

"Indeed, my dear, you did it. Five on one, and you in particular were armed to the teeth while the rest of them barely had one worthy weapon among themselves, but that doesn't stip this victory of its significance."

Everybody turned in the direction the voice had come from, looking at the man who had spoke, his whole figure radiating the sort of confidence and authority that can only be acquired after a long life of always coming up on top of obstacles that would fell a lesser man.

Lone Wolf soft smile indicated his amusement, even as he pulled up a battered Golden Sparrow, touching him slightly over the temple so that his eyes opened; then, with a gentle move, he pushed him toward Saber Fox, who quickly substained his injured friend.

Then, he moved to the point were Blazing Boar was lying and, kneeling near him, placed an hand on his chest with a frown on his face; there was a bright shine of light, and then the huge gap in his abdomen disappeared. He observed him for a moment more, then nodded, and got up again, clearly certain he would survive.

Lastly, he moved to where Silver Raven was waiting, and gently touched his temple; when the platinum-haired Kai awoke, Lone Wolf offered him an hand, and the young boy got up, his eyes assessing the situation and quickly focusing on Starfire's prone form.

While he did this, Lone Wolf made a gesture to his left, and Dragon's Song flew to his hand; he then offered the blade to Silver Raven, who gladly took it back.

"Thank you, Grand Master."

Lone Wolf made a vague nodding gesture, then moved to the center of the field - where Starfire was - and raised his hands to indicate that he wished to speak; immediately, the crowd went silent.

"Thank you, brothers and sisters. Now, it's not my intention to keep you from celebrating for long, but I wish for you all to understand the meaning of what you've seen happen here, today. There's a lesson do be drawn from this."

He paused, looking down to his injured student, and amended:

"Well, perhaps two; the first one being, do not overestimate your skills, especially when drunk. Bad things will happen. And you won't remember them."

A general laughter passed among the reunited Kai, and Lone Wolf allowed himself an amused smile, before gently raising one hand, once again making the crowd go silent.

"However, the other one is more important, and I want you all to understand it. Today, five of you fought an opponent superior to them in every way, an opponent that had proven himself invicible in front of them many times, and they won. Look at them: males and females, high and low-ranked, war veterans and new blood, friends and rivals... they're so different from each other, yet they all worked togheter, fought togheter, and this allowed them to win a battle behyond what every single one of them could have done. I want you all to remember this day; remember what you've seen. One single Kai, even the most powerful Kai, can be defeated, if he's alone. But togheter... togheter, the Kai are the greatest force on Magnamund, and as long as you'll be united, there's nothing you can't do!"

He raised his fist in the air, and everybody followed, cheering at their leader's words. Lone Wolf smiled, then moved to Sun Fox and raised her hand with his own, ending his speech with a shout:

"And now, go back to the party, but to celebrate our winners!"

Another round of cheers erupted and, just like that, the crowd started to disperse, most going back to the party but other moving to chat among themselves of what just happened.

Lone Wolf, on the other hand, turned toward the trio of Kai closer to him, and tapped Golden Sparrow on the shoulder.

"Bring your master to White Mantis, I'm sure she'll want to scold him personally."

He paused, then glanced at Blazing Boar's body, and took it on one shoulder without apparent effort, despite the fact that the blonde, bearded giant was at least twice his size. Lone Wolf looked back at the three and said, with a smile:

"Who knows... perhaps she'll let me watch?"

And, laughing softly to himself, Lone Wolf carried Blazing Boar away, leaving the three victors - Raven had apparently decided to disappear while nobody was looking - alone on the grounds.

:) Time for you to make one last post if you want, to sum up the situation and Fox emotions on the whole ordeal, and then we can consider the battle closed and wrap up the thread.

By the way, this is an example of what a boss battle in this game will probably be like... what do you think of it? I need feedback! ^^

Re: Sabre Fox's memory: Midnight sun

As Sabre Fox managed to get back to his feet, the battle fatigue seemed to melt away as he felt Sun Fox's lips pressed against his. He allowed his eyes to shut as he drifted away in the moment and felt a smile form on his face. When Sun Fox pulled away he gave her a wry wink and a mischevious smile.

At the sight of his illustrious leader appearing, Sabre Fox felt like a naughty child in a school room. He was unsure of how the Grand Master would react to this, but he was glad to see he did not take it all the wrong way

As Lone Wolf passed Golden Sparrow onto him, Fox whispered in his ear.

"Did he actually pay us a compliment?" He whispered

Listening to his leader speak, he realised the gravity of what he had said. Together they could bring down any opponent. It times gone, this could have quite easily been what a fight against a Darklord was like, and now with them gone, this was a good a test as any.

Fox realised that he had been the clear underdog in this fight. Out of all the Kai here, he was probabally by definition the weakest of the five in the team. Yet he was still standing when Magnakai stronger than him had fallen and had performed better than even Sun Fox since she had wielded a magical weapon. Fox was pleased to have been part of this. It would be something he would remember forever........ and be able to tease Sparrow about later!

"So then" He said after the Grand Master has left. "Does that mean we are celebritys now?"

Well its quite epic! Of course I didnt see the full type of battle because the NPC's were on auto pilot of course, but it I did enjoy it! Good rolling pretty much ensured that Fox survived the battle without falling. Something that I would imagine would make him even more of a celebrity? After all, a lower ranking Magnakai out lasted a lot stronger others, and the only one left was 'armed to the teeth' as stated by LW. So thats something to keep his ego afloat!

Re: Sabre Fox's memory: Midnight sun

Sparrow shook his head at Fox's comment and said, in answer:

"Like you needed any help in getting your ego inflated... next time I'm so letting master Starfire pound you into the ground, my arm's still tingling from that last punch."

The tone was clearly mocking, although considered that said punch had took him out, the exaggeration on Sparrow's part wasn't much.

Sun Fox, on the other hand, seemed to have recovered from embarassment because she said, looking thoughtful:

"Do you think that means I could get the Grand master to got up to six training session a day, instead of just four? Since we're celebrities now, so everybody will be looking up to us?"

Golden Sparrow shot a uncredulous look at the girl, but she didn't seemed to notice because she nodded to herself, her face lighting up.

"That's it, I must go ask him right now!"

And, without losing another moment, the girl started to run toward the infirmary.

Golden Sparrow follower her with the eyes for a moment, his voice filled with a tone of disbelief.

"That girl is always training... I've nothing against trying to become stronger, but there should be a reasonable limit to that, too!"

Another huff let the man, then he looked up at Sabre Fox and smiled.

"Alright, celebrity, since I took an hit from master Starfire for you, now you're going to return the favor and helpme drag him to the infirmary. Let's go."

And with that, we can declare the thread concluded! :D It was quite an interesting example of what the - very late - boss battles will be like.

Normal battle will be a lot less eventful, since each of you would only be able to use two special attack each five rounds, would not be facing Kai who are armed with special attacks of their own, and most importantly, would have to actually be careful not to spend all of your WP in a single fight... but I do hope to be able to get this level of involvement when you'll be fighting the more terrifying opponents I've prepared... :)

Say, Sabre Fox, do you have any problem with me making this thread public, so that the others can get a feeling for what a Magnakai battle is like?

Re: Sabre Fox's memory: Midnight sun

Well I did go mad with WP spending that fight since I knew that it wouldnt actually count once we get started. So Fox will be a lot less reckless in some ways when we get going, at least in WP spendage!

Id say I dont mind making it public, but not quite yet. I want Fox's reputation to be built up by yourself first as we make our opening posts. That way the others will wonder whats actually behind the battle. In the end, one of them will either ask about it, or Fox will want to boast about the battle. At that point, id say open it as it will be told 'as read'

Dont want to be awkward! Just want it to build Fox's character up a bit

Re: Sabre Fox's memory: Midnight sun

I understand what you're saying... but, remember, there was a big crowd looking at the fight - even if the others weren't among them, wouldn't their character have at least heard of it by now?

Especially considering one of them is friend with both Silver Raven and Sun Fox...

Beside, the others might find it cool - and useful - to have an idea of how a big boss battle would be.

However, if you prefer for it to be kept secret for a bit to increase the tension, I can do that! ^^

Let's say that, if nobody has asked for it by then, I'll make it public when your team leaves the Monastery - so you'll have the first group of introductory posts and setting posts for you to increase the tension with.

And, I will have to give Sun Fox's friend access to the thread before theh, since I'm going to need it to develop certain points in my discussion about that palyer's character concept.

Is that alright with you?

Re: Sabre Fox's memory: Midnight sun

Yea thats fine. I wasnt gonna hold out on them for long! Fox would make it a point to mention it so he can establish the role of 'leading man' in the group!

On an unrelated note, how are we going with Vigilance?  :))

Re: Sabre Fox's memory: Midnight sun

I'll establish all six special items effect when I have all six players ready to start; I want to make sure I don't double up anything or end up overpowering somebody by mistake.

You'll know the effects of Vigilance, much like everybody else, only once I'm ready to make the first actual in-game post. ^^

And now, the thread is officially closed! :D It was an awesome battle, wich hopefully you had as much fun playing as I had describing... I'm just sorry you'll now have to wait until the game start for some more posting, but it seems that's how things are.
