Sabre Fox's memory: Midnight sun
The moon was shining and the night, hot and damp in the middle of the summer, was resonating with the laughs and cheers of one of the biggest feasts that had been seen in the Monastery in a long time.
Having left the party for Mentora - no, Sun Knight now - Starfire, who had just today completed his training in the discipline of Divination and, at the same time, mastered the Lorecircle of the Spirit, the two friend were sitting on a bench at the border of the training area, letting the effects of the alcool wane as they looked at the shining stars in the sky.
"You know, Fox... at times like these, I wonder if I'm really doing this right. What use am I, if I can't even keep my master from making himself look like an idiot?"
A loud sound came from the inside of the common room where the celebrations were being held - likely Starfire showing off, as he usually did when he was drunk - and Sparrow let out a huff and closed his eyes.
"Well, at least we can relax out here... I'm glad the Grand Master didn't allowed him to build a bonfire like he'd asked; a party that huge would have left the whole Order out of commission tomorrow morning."
Sparrow slowly got up, and patted his friend on the shoulder in a friendly manner, as he added, smiling:
"Thanks for listening to my ramblings... sorry for keeping you from the feast this long, Fox. Shall we go back inside?"
Before Saber Fox had a chance to answer his friend's question, a huge, towering figure was blasted through the door of the room where the party was being held, and it hit the ground with a very dull sound. The man got back to his feet in a moment, and by looking at him, both Mangakai were able to recognize his hulking figure and his long blonde beard instantly: it was Blazing Boar, one of Summer Wasp's circle of friends and one of the strongest fighters in the Monastery.
Even as he got up, he shouted back to the common room, his words resonating throguh the ground:
"You're calling that a throw, Starfire? You drunk so much that your blood turned to wine, you're patethic!"
Golden Sparrow watched in clear horror as another figure exited from the common room - smaller and slender than Blazing Boar, but still owning visibly bristling muscles and a big figure, whith long blonde hairs as well as a more neatly trimmed beard than his opponent floating in his wake. And it walked whith the stumbling step of somebody who'd clearly drunk way too much to still be standing.
"Oh, for the love of Kai..."
"Say 'hat 'gain, you oaf! 'm going to 'ake you s'rry 'or it!"
"Please, you're not in any shape to fight a cow, much less a Kai!"
" 'hat 'u're 'aying? 't's on! 'll take 'our of you to 'ake 'own me!"
Golden Sparrow tried to move to prevent the unavoidable, but that was the wrong thing to do, because the movement caught the attention of Starfire, who unsheated his sword and pointedd it in the vague direction of where his disciple was.
" 'arrow! 'here you are! 'et me s'm'body to 'ight, yeah?"
As people started to come out of the common room, Golden Sparrow sighed and glanced to his friend.
"I should just go call the Grand Master and make him stop this folly before it's too late, shouldn't I?"
It was clear that, as much as he wanted to avoid putting somebody though the risk that fighting a drunk Starfire would be for everybody involved, Sparrow still didn't felt right in disobeying his master.
Of course, you'd not be able to avoid the battle either way, but I think this is the best stopping point for the introductory post, so you can give me a glimpse of Saber Fox's opinion of the whole matter.
To make some things a bit clearer, this is two year before the start of the game; you still have your full complement of three disciplines, but most of the others will be a bit lower ranked than they're now - Sparrow, for example, is missing Animal Control, while Starfire still has to learn both Animal Control and Pathsmanship.
Also, I should point out that, while you two do drank a bit at the party, you were out - with you listening to Sparrow's saying how bad an idea the party had been in the first place - for about one hour; you're most definitely the two most sober people around, and Sparrow hold his alchool very well, he just get talkative after a drink or two. Starfire, as you might have noticed, is not as resilient to intoxication... and Golden Sparrow can't stand to see him that way, it irks him that a person he respect that much can make such an idiot out of himself. That's why he left the party - you just followed so he hadn't to stay outside on his own.
So, have fun in posting your thoughts, both to Sparrow's reflections and to everything else that's happening! ^^
