Thread I: Six Kai, Two missions

The Vault of the Sun was at the very center of the Monastery, as well as being in the lowest point of the whole construction; according to the legend, this room was the only one to have survived from the old Monastery that had been razed to the ground by Zagarna's army - wich, in the eyes of Lone Wolf, had been the reason to build the Monastery above and around it; so that the New Order would never forget its origins and what horrors they were fighting to prevent.

Aside from its historic significance, though, there were more reasons the Vault of the Sun was a place that almost demanded the respect of those inside of it. The blue glyphs that covered the white stones, pulsating with a blue light that made it seem a live creature instead of a place, made the air resonate with power; and the dark purple flames that burned all over the Dagger of Vashna, kept on display under a crystal case, worked as a constant reminder of what the Kai had been created to defeat, as well as the symbol of their continued triumph over evil.

The point was enphasized by the blinding light that kept the vault illuminated without need of torches: the radiance of the seven Lorestones of Nyxator, disposed above small pedestal arranged around a bigger one in a disposition meant to resemble a stylized sun. And in the central pedestal, unde its own case, was the greatest treasure of the Order - the legendary Book of Magnakai, the item that made the very existence of the Monastery possible.

And these were only the biggest of the riches that filled the room; several big, reinfroced chests were lined along the walls, holding the entire Monastery's treasury. Additionally, magical weapons were dangling from the walls, as throphies of many succesfull mission, with a specific sword, put right behind the Lorestones, standing out the most. The handle was made out of black bone, with oxidian spikes and spyraling decoration covering the hilt, and the scabbard of black leater was ornated with a design of purple skulls; there was no denying the evilness of the weapon, a weapon that was a relic of the greatest success in Lone Wolf's own career, and an eternal memento of what the Kai could accomplish.

Despite the multitude of treasures that filled it, the room was still large enough to allow  several people to stand in it, as well as containing two desk. The bigger one, made of quartz, was placed right in front of the Lorestones, so that those sitting behind it would result enfused by a radiant halo. The other was much smaller, built in mogany, and placed to the back and the side of the room, near the chests, wich made it somewhat hard to see since it resulted hidden in the less illuminated area of the room.

Nine people occupied the room, six of whom lined in front of the big desk, awaiting their orders at attention; they were a quite strange bunch, although all were wearing the green cloak that identified them as part of the Order, and while some seemed to know each other, it was just as clear that certain members of the group had never met, from the way glances were exchanged helding both curiosity and recognition.

Two of the remaining three men were greatly sidelined, only barely noticeable because the people in the room knew their names. One was sitting behind the mogany desk, shifting through piles of paperworks without even looking at the others, like an accountant uninterested in anything but his own work, and if it wasn't for the very regular sound of paper being moved every few seconds, it would have been easy to forgot the man was there.

The second person was standing by the door, his shoulder against it as if to ward the room from intrusion, and even if he seemed relaxed enough, there was no mistaking the fact that this men was a warrior. He had a conteinance that exuded a quiet strenght, and his hair - of a light brown color that could pass for blonde in the right light - cascaded over his face with no semblance of order, making his young face appear savage. Even his gaze was that of a man ready for battle at any moment, his piercing brown eyes surveying the conveyed Kai like those of a bird of prey. He was clearly acting as a sentinel, and as many sentinel, his presence would have been easy to forget, hadn't it been so clearly menacing.

In striking contrast with them, the last person in the room was sitting on the edge of the bigger desk, the forest green cloak he wore partially spread over the quartz workplace in a certain disarray; lighted by the lorestones, his blonde hairs and cured beard seemed to shine, giving his cerulean eyes a strenght that they would not have normaly had. He was a big man, and the way he was dressed - a scarlet red vest over a golden tunic, with the sun of Sommerlund on his chest - was clearly meant to make him look important, something that his figure helped with - even through the light cloth of the tunic, it was easy to see the bulging muscles he must possess, and his hands, who  were claspinp the place he was standing on with a certain stenght, proved this quite easily.

However, while his whole figure, as well as his placement, where meant to make his figure more impressing, there were signs pointing out to the fact that he didn't felt so sure of his own importance. His finger twiched slightly, and the way he carried himself was not imposing, nor relaxed - it was guarded, as if something made him uncertain of his status.

And, when he finally spoke, after several minutes spent in a silence that most people would have mistook for careful studying, but that a Magnakai Sixth Sense could easily recognize as uncertainty, his words, while delivered with a strong voice, were hesitant, almost as if the man himself was not certain of wheter he were right or wrong in saying them.

"Ah... Welcome, young masters. I... summoned you... here... for a mission that... ah, I meant... for two missions... that are of great importance... to the Order."

He stopped himself, as if unsure what to say next, and trew a sidelong glance to the man standing by the door, as if looking at him for a suggestion.

So, welcome to the game! ^^

We're now having a pause so that you lot can describe your characters to each other, as well as give your general thoughts on how your character feels at having been summoned to the vault to receive this mission you know nothing about, and any thoughts you might have on each other's characters - at least the one you know! :D

While it should be obvious, Frost Ferret isn't in the room - but the rest of you all are. Feel free to show your thoughts on the rest of the team... is not as if they could be offended by them, right? ;)

I don't expect your character would be heavily armed - a sidearm at best would be standard in this situation, since most of the time you'd have no reason to be carrying around all of your equipment while in the Monastery, so keep that in mind during the descriptions.

By the way, I hope you've figured out that the man who's talking is Satrfire! I won't be telling you who the other two are... hopefully you lot can guess correctly just by the descriptions! ;P

Re: Thread I: Six Kai, Two missions

Sun Snake winced at Starfire's speech, knowing that in the heat of battle the man was far more assured. Sun Snake was tall, his thin frame making him appear moreso. However, despite his white tunic flaring brightly in the glow of this place, Sun Snake otherwise stood back from the rest.

Sun Snake stood near Blue Snake, as if acknowledging the similar temperament. While Blue Snake silently dealt with the large organisation of the order, Sun Snake dealt with some of the minutiae too small for Blue Snake's attention. Sun Snake seemed to take on some of the silent and innocuous traits of Blue Snake, as if the Snake moniker determined personality in this place.

The Kai Master was not shy, but he did not need Golden Sparrow looming over him to stay silent. He was lost in thought, wondering over what was occurring. He looked over the assembled group, nodding to Sabre Fox when he saw the man was in the room. It was like a chain of family, seeing Starfire, Golden Sparrow and Sabre Fox gathered in the same room.

Sun Snake also noted two friends of Sun Fox in the room, though he really only knew them from observing them with Sun Fox. In recent times Sun Snake had taken a passive interest in  the young Kai, though nothing overt. It was as if the Sun moniker silently linked her in his mind as someone to watch out for. Especially in the current environment.

The last two Kai, Sun Snake could not make out exactly with the lighting and his position.

Sun Snake himself stood tall, a silver blue stoned diadem keeping his long hair firmly pulled back against his scalp, away from his face. It was the only simplistic decoration the man seemed to possess, his general outfit traditional and otherwise plain - some blue thread the only ornamentation. Sun Snake had served with the Brotherhood and Blue Snake in the Gnaag Wars, and it seemed that the blue thread he could scrounge from the mages for repairs during that time had now followed him in to his later life.

Sun Snake's only real reaction to the words, other than wincing, was to raise his eyebrow at the talk of not one but two missions.

Re: Thread I: Six Kai, Two missions

Sabre Fox was casually twirling a lock of his hair in his finger as Starfire was speaking. To anyone else, this would be frowned upon, but Fox knew that Starfire wouldnt have a problem with him doing this. Infact, Fox hoped that it would put his Master at ease with him being there since despite his casual nature, Fox respected Starfire a great deal.

Sabre Fox to the others, may look quite as menacing as Stafire or his friend over by the door. He had dark shoulder hair that reached just above his neck and deep piercing blue eyes. The scar across the middle of his face was quite prominent and was no doubt something the others would notice, and it was a personal thing to Fox.

He wore a dark blue leather waistcoat with a simple brown shirt underneath, while his hands were covered with black bracers. Both of these were regular armor that he wore that he had personalised into his permanent wardrobe arrangement. His trousers and boots were unremarkable, simply black in colour for practicality.

Fox was a imposing specimen. His biceps were visable and it was clear that his background pedigree was of a purebred fighter as his arms were muscled and although he was not a walking mountain as Starfire, it was clear he was physically strong.

Looking across the group, Fox was glad to see he knew a few of them. The hooded pair that was firstly Sun Snake he knew, but not that well. He had trained with him and Sparrow a few times, but not really enough to be more than simple sparring colleagues.

Dusk Rat was the second, he gave her a wry smile at her prescence. He knew she wasnt exactly a talker, but they had a good working relationship and he was glad to know she was involved.

Then there was the surley bint that he knew was Laughing Shark. And bint was putting it mildly. He recalled they had not met this week so far for thier scheduled drink and general chit chat, but if she was here and they were going to be working together for the first time, then he knew fun would be had all round.

The others he did not really know, but he was sure that would change before long.

Re: Thread I: Six Kai, Two missions

Laughing Shark stood front and center, feeling no need to hide in the back for this particular meeting. She was of an average height with a lithe build with a dark complexion, her midnight-black hair and dark skin sticking out amidst the primarily fair skinned, blonde haired members of the oder. However, her eyes were alight with a blue light as she smiled at each of her fellow kai as she saw them, giving a playful wink to Sabre Fox as he entered and head nod and wide grin to Swift Fox. She wondered at the idea that the only two kai she knew particularly well here were both Foxes - must be a popular animal.

The woman was dressed in a rather non traditional fashion for the kai. She wore the white tunic sure enough, but it was covered by a leather bodice that served to extenuate out her more feminine curves while adding a spice of color to her look, the leather dyed a deep crimson. Her pants and boots were tightly fit, flexible material to allow maximum mobility in addition to offering the same ascetic perks as the bodice. Her boots were of soft black leather reaching up her calves. The cloak she wore was unremarkable and seemed almost a tacked on formality, it wasn't a full clock like the others wore and loosely attached around her neck by a golden chain.

Of the masters, Shark recognized Starfire and Golden Sparrow. She'd worked for Sparrow once or twice, but never really talked to the man much. He seemed an interesting enough bloke, but her missions usually brought her elsewhere.

As Starfire went on to speak, Shark let out a soft sigh. The man really did need to learn to address his underlings properly and show a little enthusiasm, or spirit, or something. She did little to disguise her impatience with the master, crossing her arms under her breasts and cocking an brow. The once broad smile morphed into something resembling a smirk, but Shark said nothing, preferring instead to wait.

I had to google the term bint - is it usually used derogatory or in jest?

Re: Thread I: Six Kai, Two missions

Sabre Fox heard the sigh coming from Laughing Shark, and knowing that Starfire was more than a little distracted he quickly shook his head at her and mouthed

"Dont go there ya daft bint!" with a wink

He just hoped she got the brief silent but helpful suggestion to his drinking partner.

Well traditionally its used as a derogatory term, but it can also be used in jest. Its something that Fox of course is gonna use in jest in reference to Shark!

Re: Thread I: Six Kai, Two missions

Well.  This would be... interesting.

Rain Feather simply stood there, bright blue eyes flicking over the others in the room. She didn't recognize a couple of them, but her eyes lingered upon Swift Fox a second longer.  Being the only one she really recognized, well... it would be good to have a familiar face upon the mission.  Someone who wasn't completely a stranger to her.  A few of the others, she knew a little of by reputation (though she'd have her own thoughts about that).

She made as little sound as possible, simply observing the actions of others for now.

Her dark green cloak opened, revealing a set of clothes that were dark blue, almost black, with white trim accenting the curves and stitching.  The outfit continued down into a dark blue skirt, modestly cut- but with the same white accents, and a pair of black calf-high boots, made of hard leather.

Her impassive face would simply stay that way, framed by black hair that was pulled into a braid, held in place with a small piece of leather thong decorated with several feathers.

Though what was most obvious about her was the cool, almost cold nature she seemed to be radiating.  Her fingers slowly flexed, as though she was looking for something- that put her slightly on edge.  She looked like she was ready to start the mission- on her own, if need be.

She regarded Starfire with a quick glance, and also let those eyes glance over Blue Snake and Golden Sparrow.  She would simply shift her weight onto her other leg and return her gaze to Starfire, waiting for the briefing to begin.

Re: Thread I: Six Kai, Two missions

Swift Fox showed no obvious outward reaction to Starfire's stumbling speech.
She had always had a natural talent for concealing her true thoughts behind an impassive mask of an expression.
For now she simply stood in line, her arms folded across her chest, staring steadily at Starfire, her icy blue eyes occasionally flickering towards anyone else who spoke.  Her short height and slight figure made her appear too young to be standing with the other Magnakai.

She was wearing the same forest-green cloak as the other Magnakai, along with dark brown clothing which blended easily into the shadows.
Although most of her weaponry had been left in her room, the handle of a single dagger protruded from a sheath on her belt.  The silvery hilt was inlaid with some strangely ornate jade designs which occasionally glinted with an inner glow independent of the various other light sources in the vault.
Swift raised a hand to flick some of her messy blonde hair out of her eyes and glanced around at the sound of Laughing Shark's sigh.
She didn't know the others too well, although she had seen Laughing Shark and Rain Feather around often enough.
Returning her attention to Starfire, she returned to her statue-like stillness, her innermost thoughts as mysterious as ever, although the more perceptive would notice the tiniest barely-visible ghost of a wry smile cross her face at Starfire's obvious awkwardness...

Just an FYI there to Swift Fox. Sabre Fox's words were 'mouthed' no sound came out to interrupt Starfire, he did it so Shark could lip read it while Starfire was distracted

Re: Thread I: Six Kai, Two missions

Dusk Rat stands near her fellow Kai, not too close to any of them but not so near the edge of the room that she'll attract strange looks for appearing to want to stay out of reach of everyone. The hood of her green-patterned cloak is pulled over her head and her dark eyes gaze out into the room, flitting about to take in as much detail as possible, noting the stances and facial expressions of those she can see. So, several of them gathered here, but only one she vaguely knows - Sabre Fox gives her a smile which she decides she may as well acknowledge, giving a brief nod but making no other gesture and saying nothing.

She has her arms folded, standing there as she awaits instruction. Beneath her cloak, her clothign is practical - trousers and a shirt, and then a long-sleeved tunic, more like a thin coat, over the shirt. All are coloured in mixed shades of brown, green, and grey - colours normally found on an arboreal night and so suited to blend into such an environment. Her clothing is not too close-fitting, but nor is it so loose that it could get in the way during physical activity such as climbing. Around her waist is her required item of white clothing, the sign of a Kai - it is a simple sash, little more than a length of white cloth, tied around her middle. It seems out of place when compared to the darkness of the rest of her clothing.

All this covers a frame which might perhaps have lacked in nourishment during its development - somehow it's as if Dusk Rat didn't quite have enough time to get to her full height before her growth stopped, and she certainly doesn't have any excess fat. Even those parts of her which you might expect to be larger, given her sex, aren't particularly noteworthy, though as her arms are folded this may not be immediately apparent. Little of her dark hair, kept slightly above shoulder-length, can be seen due to her raised hood, but her skin tone is a little darker than that of the pale faces around her.

She stands there, waiting to see what mission she will be given, hoping that Starfire will get a move on and explain things. Although attentive to his words, Dusk Rat continues to glance around every now and then - she doesn't move her head, but her eyes dart about the room as though checking nothing has changed.

Re: Thread I: Six Kai, Two missions

After a moment, Golden Sparrow seemed to catch his master's glance, and gave an encouraging nod to him; that seemed to be enough as Starfire, looking over the silent group, continued his speech.

"Ah... right, right. So... missions, yes. First... Sun Fox? Yes, her."

He paused again, clearly collecting his thoughts, before going on.

"Sun Fox... is missing. And... what was that... six? No... four, that's it. Four Kai Journeymen... she was training... and took along. All missing."

He nodded to himself, as if to assure himself he'd got the details right.

"So... missing. She was to recover Lone Wolf. His body, I mean. That's your mission!"

He beamed at the group, as if happy, before looking up at Sparrow, who made a gesture as if to go on; Starfire seemed puzzled for a moment, before his eyes widened in understanding and he turned over to the group, choughing to hide his confusion.

"Right! Second mission... Toran. Some patrol disappeared, so we sent... what was the name again, Snake?"

The man at the back of the room didn't even lifted his eyes from his work, answering in a bored monotone.

"Silver Raven, Archmaster."

"Ah, yes, right, Raven! Brilliant lad, I remember his sword, cool piece of work... give you lot a bit of trouble with it that one time, didn't I, Sparrow? Fox?"

He chuckled softly, then paused, looking dumbfounded.

"Ah, ah... where was I?"

"Explaining why we sent Silver Raven to Toran, Archmaster."

"Right! So... these patrol disappeared, you see? And Moon Shadow... it was her, right?... yeah, her, said to send Raven, that the lad was the best at finding stuff, and he would find everybody and bring them back in a week... only, he didn't. Still missing, him too."

Starfire paused, as if realizing the gravity of the news, then looked up at the six Magnakai Master Superior, and added, trying to sound solemn and failing miserably:

"So... your missions - bring back Sun Fox... and Silver Raven, too... and complete their missions too, alright?"

He paused there, apparently satisfied that he had conveyed the message he had to convey.

Obviously, there's still plenty of stuff missing, as Starfire is going to be told in a bit, but I thought it fair to give you lot the chance for a reaction shot at this point. :)

By the way, I'm going to add Silver Raven to the NPC list - be sure to check him out! ^^

Laughing Shark waited a moment, her brow still cocked but the smirk had faded from her lips. It was amazing that such a woman would ever be speechless, but the Archmaster's ramblings had left her so, if but briefly.

"An' who esactly's going where?" Shark asked in a thick accent, "thar be six o'us and two missions ta take, 'ana bit o details as to where we should find either'v these patrols would be mighty 'elpful," there was a slight pause, "sar" she added the title of respect almost as an after thought.

Swift Fox continued to listen to Starfire's words with no noticeable reaction to them at first.
Her gaze shifted momentarily to Blue Snake as he replied to the question about the missing Kai, responding with Silver Raven's name, but her attention quickly returned to Starfire.

As the talk continued about the mission to Toran and Silver Raven's disappearance, the first signs of a reaction were noticeable as Swift Fox suddenly seemed more interested in what Starfire was saying, her eyes widening slightly.
Her arms remained folded across her chest, but she raised one hand to her lips, nibbling absently at a fingernail...

Re: Thread I: Six Kai, Two missions

Before anybody else could speak, a voice cut trough the silence like a blade, it's tone hard, in a clear warning not to interrupt Starfire anymore.

"Do not interrupt the Archmaster until you're authorized to, Laughing Shark; if you don't stay in your place, I'll make you behave. It's not Summer Wasp you're talking to now, and if you think the same disrespect she accepts is going to fly here, you're sorely mistaken."

As all eyes turned to Golden Sparrow at his warning, it was easy to see the irritation in his face, his gaze cold and focused, as he finished.

"You will be told what to do when the Archmaster decides to; and after that, you'll be allowed to make all of your questions. In the meanwhile, just shut up."

He kept his eyes on the girl for a moment, as if daring her to defy him, then turned back to Starfire and made a short, respectful bow to him, as if to apologize for his action and almost encouraging his master to complete the briefing.

:D I was hoping somebody would do that! ^^ I wanted to make this Sparrow scene a lot, but I couldn't until somebody dared to interrupt Starfire. Thanks, Shark, for giving me the chance! In fact, I think I'll give you some form of reward for that... just give me the time to think it over! :)

I'll update again tomorrow morning with the final part of Starfire's speech - and after that you'll all be allowed to ask your questions. Until then, feel free to post your character's thoughts on the situation at hand - including Sparrow's outburst - but be careful not to include any dialogue! ;P

She glanced over, almost having expected this.  Golden Sparrow flying off the handle when Starfire was questioned... it was about the same as expecting snow in winter.

Her eyes would flick over, then back. It had been a legitimate question, in her eyes- did he really expect them to go all off towards Toran on a wing and a prayer, with no information beyond that?  You'd have an easier time trying to get flowers to grow in what was apparently left of Helgedad- or maybe he expected them to take Toran apart, brick by brick, and find Silver Raven?

She'd lightly sigh and nod at the Archmaster, encouraging him to continue.

"Ain't no disrespect," Shark in as polite a tone as her accent and nature would allow. Shark bowed her head ever so slightly to the enraged Sparrow, the smile once again plane across her lips. Those closest to Laughing Shark could hear her soft exhale of breath, but she said no more and proceeded to hang on the Archmaster's every word.

It would be out of character for her to not to speak up!

That reward doesn't happen to involve a dagger up the bowels, does it? If so, I think I'll pass.

Swift Fox turned at the sound of Golden Sparrow's voice, one of her hands momentarily dropping towards the dagger hilt at her belt before returning to its previous position, folded across her chest, apparently an instinctive reaction to the sudden disturbance.
She frowned at Sparrow for a second before turning back to Starfire again.
Outwardly, her calm appearance had quickly reasserted itself, after the flicker of emotion she had displayed at the mention of the Toran mission...

Re: Thread I: Six Kai, Two missions

Starfire seemed even more confused by what was going on, his eyes darting from Sparrow to Shark. However, after a moment, he managed to recover.

"Ah... yes... who's were, right. Uh, Sun Fox's was to be Fox" and he pointed to the scarred Kai "Sun Snake, and... wich lass was it agains, Snake?"

"Rain Feather, Archmaster."

"Yeah, right, her. The rest of you gals, go to Toran, and find the Raven boy. That's it."

He paused again, clearly feeling uncomfortable as the six Magnakai stares were on it, and then seemed to take a sudden decision, turning completely toward the mogany desk.

"Blue Snake, how about you taking it from here? You know eveyrthing they need to know anyway, isn't it?"

"...yes, Archmaster."

"Good! Then, see you lot? Blue Snake'll fill you in with the details. He's great with these things!"

Starfire chuckled slightly, apparently feeling relieved that he had done his part, and turned toward his disciple by the door with much more decision in his step, and spoke up with security.

"Sparrow! Fetch me half a dozen guys to fight with, I'm in need of bashing a couple heads in!"

Golden Sparrow seemed surprised by the sudden turn in conversation.

"Master, are you really sure..."

"Why wouldn't I be if I'm asking? Come on, don't just stay there, go!"

Golden Sparrow nodded, making a quick farewell gesture in Sabre Fox's direction and launching a last venomous gaze to Laughing Shark before leaving.

Starfire smiled, and started to move toward the door, raising his hands as he went, which made two warhammers flew from the walls stragiht into his fists. He bashed them togheter with a satisfied grin, then turned to the six and raised one in a triumph gesture, shouting with a booming voice:

"Magnakai! Find the bastards who've made your brother and sister disappear, and make them pay! The whole Order trust in you success!"

And, with those partying words, delivered with such convinction that it seemed as if to say them had been another man than the one who briefed them, he left, his steps exuding confidence.

The six Kai were still looking at the door of the Vault, as if to fully understand what had just happened, when a carefully controlled voice, almost devoid of emotion, spoke - and then they realized the sound of shifting paper had disappeared, as Blue Snake was now looking at the group.

"You have to forgive Archmaster Starfire's hesitation; Lone Wolf's disappearance hit him harder than almost anybody else in the Order, and he has many things to handle in the daily workings of the Monastery, so it's only natural for him to have some difficulties with keeping the details of every mission in mind. But, he's still a strong and experienced battle veteran, and I'm sure noone here, having to pick somebody to lead them in combat, would choose anybody but him. He needs our support, now more than ever, and our understanding when he makes a mistake - it's an heavy burden the one he carries."

It didn't escaped anybody notice that the man did not offered any such justification for Golden Sparrow's outburst. Instead, his eyes moved from one Kai to the other, with a piercing gaze that seemed to be evaluating every one of them in turn, before speaking again.

"There are many specifics you need to know before leaving for your missions, but I saw you had questions, so feel free to ask them; now is the time for it, and anything you want to know, in relation to these missions, I will answer."

That said, the man said nothing more, apparently waiting for somebody to speak first.

Don't worry, Shark, there's no need for the reward to be something dangerous for you: you've already granted that to yourself by antagonizing Sparrow, and that's a far worse punishment than any I could create! ^^

In fact, I'm considering reintroducing Fate Points... everybody who thinks that'd be cool, say so in the OOC thread, so we can discuss it there, alright? :)

Anyway, now is the time to make your questions! As you should know, the rumor goes that Blue Snake always knows everything... and he certainly knows all the details on these missions, at least, and he's taking questions. So, ask away! :D

Re: Thread I: Six Kai, Two missions

Well.  This was going to be rather interesting... her eyes would briefly glance at her traveling companions.

Sabre Fox looked to be of the same school as Golden Sparrow... which meant that he'd be the one taking point.  Sun Snake... was an enigma to her.  She hadn't really seen him much outside of glances and the like... and she didn't know if it was a good thing or a bad thing.

"...will we be able to contact each other and the monastery if something happens?  Pardon the thought, but if Sun Fox or Silver Raven return while we are out, then it will do little good to have us out in the wind."

Blue Snake's eyes turned over to Rain Feather in a sharp motion, narrowing slighlty as he focused his deep gaze over her.

"I will be giving you magical means of comunication, but since their use will require a long explanation, I think we can keep the details about that last; for now, it will suffice to say that this problem has already been considered and resolved."

She'd lean down and place a hand on the table to steady herself. It seemed like she was a bit light-headed at the moment.
