"I intend to." replies Dusk Rat, shortly. "But I intend to do so in private. So clearly it will have to wait."

Privately I'm adding the word "Duhh..." to the end of that sentence ;). Yay for the Kai Lady of shitty social skills ;).

Re: Thread II: Toran

Shark seemed concerned regarding Swift's confession, "Aye, priority," she repeated. Her mind seemed to have wandered slightly. "erm, more about Toren? Aye, I suppose. 'sbeen years and my view was fairly limited. But ah well," Shark shrugged, "well, sounds like if we're stuck roud here till night fall, ye do'ave something ye can busy yerself with. We aitn that far from the merchants quarters, after all. If 'ats somethin ye still need doin."

"Besides," Shark said stretching out, "I could go fer a nice walk after at swim."

Re: Thread II: Toran

Swift peered closely at Shark for a moment but then glanced back towards the door, clearly thinking it over.
"Well, I had planned to wait until we had dealt with the current threat.  I'd rather not involve the others in this, I don't really know them well enough, and besides the task was meant to be carried out in secret after all."
She hesitated again, a momentary flicker of doubt crossing her face, as if she was suddenly uncertain if she should have revealed so much.
"Anyway, it could be risky to split the group while there may be people hunting us.  Although a visit to the merchants could be useful for supplies too..."

OOC: Hmm...  Decisions decisions...  :)

Ferret looked hard at Dusk Rat for a moment, though he was clearly trying to work out something more than simply whether to press his point. Abruptly he turned away and directed his next comment at Rasha. "We must use the day to make preparations. If potions are required, I'll go to the magic quarter to get them."

"Blue has clearly lost it" Swift growled in reply.
"Maybe it's all the mind-spying he does.  Maybe he took a peek into Red Dawn's mind and finally snapped" she added with a smirk.
She didn't argue further though, getting up from her seat and moving to follow Shark from the room...

Rasha looked at Frost Ferret with a pained expression:

"Does that mean that I have to come along? I really didn't liked that place - gave me an headache."

She paused, thoughtful, but then added, her tone a bit resigned:

"Although of course it wouldn't be prudent for you to go alone..."

If you want to get back to the room, Swift and Shark, just write yourself getting back whenever you want. Perhaps with a plan on where you want to go, before Frost can run away on his own! ^_^

Shark shrugged, "may'aps e'took a peek in yer mind too," she said as they rejoined the group.

On the way back, Shark picked up the last of her drying equipment and put it on as she approached the other kai. "Well, guess at vision was Swifty'ere, mayhaps."

Re: Thread II: Toran

Shark's words seemed to pick up Rasha's interest; she looked surprised for a moment, but then smiled.

"Well, that's good, right? After all, it means that nobody was trying to enter in anybody's mind... or did I got that wrong?"

She looked to Dusk Rat, as if asking confirmation to the younger Kai, who had clearly already proved, in the bounty huntress' eyes, to be the psychic expert in the group.

Re: Thread II: Toran

Swift nodded quietly at the comment about the vision being from her own mind.
Without further comment, she moved to the corner of the room where the firelight didn't quite seem to reach and leaned against the wall, folding her arms across her chest and looking down at the floorboards.
"So...  What's our next move?" she asked, her voice quiet and subdued.

Re: Thread II: Toran

Shark sighed, despite it all she did seem to be filling a role she hadn't been assigned. Not that it bothered her terribly much, it was just unexpected. "Restock. If I'm goin ta hit up me contacts it wont be till tis evenin, an if we aint got no other leads aside from them an some clearnin miles away. . ." Shaking her head, she went on, "so 'aps we should hit up the merchants, like ye suggested. Anyone even'ave supplies they need? I'm all full up on my gear."

Shark crossed her arms waiting for a reply, "I may try ta find me contact in the merchant quarter. e' was makin a play of hittin new comers up, so might be at I cen find'em there an speed up our departure." The woman looked between the others, "so I suppose what I'm suggestin is we make our way ta the merchant quarter, see what we can find there, then either I'ead off ta meet me mark, or we leave for the clearin - depending on what we find there. Savoy?"

Swift nodded, looking a little perked up at the thought of having a specific destination in mind again.
"Sounds good.  Some supplies might be useful before we leave to check out that clearing, and if we can meet with your contacts before we go, it might give us some more leads to work with."

Dusk Rat shrugs and nods - the plan seems reasonable enough. Maybe there will be something interesting to find out whilst wandering around the marketplace...

Re: Thread II: Toran

Ferret's gaze flitted between the other Kai, his face expressionless. Finally he looked to Rasha and spoke. "I can go alone to buy some potions - it shouldn't be a problem. We can discuss what everyone needs as we go." He appeared belatedly thoughtful about the final points made by the others. "It's a good idea that we stay together to begin with, though."

Ferret moved to retrieve his pack and then looked to be heading out of the room towards the bar and the way out of the inn.

Re: Thread II: Toran

The bounty huntress looked with surprise at Frost Ferret, but after a short moment, she shrugged.

"I'm not sure if you goin alone is a good idea, but you're the one with supernatural powers, so if you think you'll be alright on your own, I guess that's how it is."

The woman got up, picking her pack as well, and then whistled, making Brook move to her side, before nodding.

"Let's go."

After that, the group quickly left the inn, and it didn't take long to reach the heart of the commercial area - the inn itself was laready located just on the outskirt of it, after all.

Ok, you're in the commercial area now, so there's three different places you can go to.

1 - First of all is Market Plaza, which hosts the open air stands manned by the non Toranese merchants - this is the area where Alyne bought her new, shimmering cloak and where Sabre Fox spoke with his friend, the Dessi merchant. If you decide to stay in this area, you'll have to tell me what your looking for and likely make some rolls, depending on what's your goal. You might find some potions and weapons here; however, you won't find anything magical, and I should make it clear that the only potions that can be found in this area are those that Toran's magicians don't produce, and any weapon you find would likely be exotic - as are most of the goods on sale in this area.

2 - The second option is to go to one of the actual shops that litters the area, and see if there's something in particular that you want to find. I shall point out that you won't find weapon shops, nor any merchant treating in magic stuff - selling magic items outside of the magic quarter is illegal in Toran (whith the only exception of potions that the Brotherhood can't produce), and the majority of the weapons are sold in the industrial sector, where the blacksmiths live.
3 - Lastly, there's the option Shark is likely going to prefer - there's lot of hawkers and peddlers that wander Toran's commercial area; they're usually people with no day job and that spend their spare time begging, and it wouldn't be uncommon for some to be carrying illegal goods, too. And obviously, hunting down a couple of these might allow a person with the right contacts to gather some information of were people of interest might be... ^_^

I shall add that, if Frost Ferret wants to break away from the group earlier, then he's free of having left you lot before you reached this area to head for the Magic Quarter - and if so, you might want to give him a list of what you want him to buy in an OOC line. Otherwise, Frost, if you'd like to get a tour of the Commercial Area first, you're free to join the others and break away from the group later on; just let us know! :D

Errm, four different places? You listed only three - the plaza, the shops, and the dodgy people. What was the fourth?

"You might get all the potions you need here," said Ferret having moved close to Swift Fox. "Unless you particularly want something that only the mages produce. I have everything I want, so it's up to you if you want me to go to the magic quarter."

Re: Thread II: Toran

Swift looked slow to react as Frost Ferret spoke to her, her attention having been focused on the names of the merchant shops, as if searching for one in particular.
When she did notice him, she looked a little hesitant to answer the question, perhaps puzzled as to why she was being entrusted with the decision at all.
"The Magic Quarter could be dangerous, especially if our enemy is truly a rogue member of the Brotherhood" she replied.
"Does anyone else want anything from there?" she asked, glancing around at the others.

OOC: Assuming regular healing and WP-restoring potions can be found around the normal marketplace?

No, they can't - that's the entire point. They can be produced by the brotherhood, hence they're only sold in the magic quarters. You might find some exotic ones - if you remember, Sabre Fox's Dessi friend merchant was carrying some of those - but they'll not be the more common ones.

Oops ok...
Well I don't think I need to edit the post anyway.  Swift won't ask him to go there purely for herself, likely she'll only be ok with it if there's more demand for potions within the group.
Otherwise she might hold off and see if she finds anything around here...

Re: Thread II: Toran

Will we know what the average cost of some stuff is? Like certain potions? I hadn't really realised how horribly slow the WP recovery would be so maybe some WP restoration potions would be good...but if the average price of one is a lot, or if it'll be cheaper to get one from the mages (can't remember if they had any for sale) then there'd probably be no point. I don't even know what constitutes "cheap" or "expensive" in this setting ;).

Well, use the maximum number of coins that you can carry as an indication: if it's more than a third of that, than it's costly, otherwise not. ;)

WP restoring potions have price going from 10 to 20 GC, depending on the kind of potion you're buying. ^_^

Re: Thread II: Toran

:) Just tell me what kind of target you're looking to for pickpocketing, and then I'll give you the DC for robbing them blind. It is completely whitin your powers to try... Kai might not have given them to you for that aim, but you all do have free will, and can use them for whichever task you feel appropriate.

I must say, I was expecting Shark to be the first one to realize that you're pratically surrounded by an infinite source of money... but now that I think about it, it's just in Swift Fox's character to notice that first! Either way, as a GM, I'm happy to let you know that yes, I'm not going to stop you from stealing if you want to.

But remember: stealing is a risky activity, and not without consequences... especially for those who get caught doing it! ;P
