Oh well she won't yet.  Maybe later though, if she doesn't find any gold somewhere and depending on how badly she needs some ;)

Re: Thread II: Toran

"Ive no need fer potions or anthing," Shark said. She wasn't keen on a split just yet, especially if it meant someone going alone. "I think fer now we should stick together. Find what we can in'a market."

Standing up, she hollared at Frost, "no need ta go packing for potions mate, we're sticking as one unite fer now." Picking up her pack and tossing it over her shoulder, Shark was ready to go. "So to'a merchants quarter we go, eh?"

Sorry for crap post. Sea sickness is beginning to take a grip. The world. . . it never stop moving. So much up and down and side to side and. . . *runs onto the deck*

Actually no vomited yet, but only been on the boat for an hour. But my head does feel funny. And land is getting further and further away. Oh the joy!

Also, Shark probably wont be picking the pockets of peoples.

Having looked up at Laughing Shark's call, Ferret tried his best to pretend he hadn't heard it, such indiscretion seeming unwise. Instead he waited for the others to decide their next move.

Hope the seasickness is a temporary thing, Sharky, and you can enjoy most of your trip!

Swift glanced towards Laughing Shark and then back to Frost Ferret.
"It might be best to stick together for now and see what we find around here first."

OOC: Owie, hope you feel better soon and can really start enjoying the trip.

The bounty huntress seemed appeased that the group wouldn't split. After a moment, though, she asked:

"So, what kind of supplies are we going to be starting with?"

Much like the others, Shark, I wish you to get back soon. :)

Also, dear team, perhaps you should make your pick out of the three options I gave you? That way we can proceed. :)

"Startin wit?" Shark asked the huntress, "Startin wit what ever we got in our packs'ov course. I be hopin ta leave with some information though," Shark picked up her bag and made her way towards the door. "I think Swifty'ad some business she wanted ta attent ta as well." She added as she passed their leader.

Shark shall be going for option 3 I suppose.

Sea sickness never got to bad. The first haul was kinda crappy but now I feel totally normal. Tired, but well!

Re: Thread II: Toran

Swift frowned at the mention of her own business, shooting a brief frustrated glare in Shark's direction before shrugging and looking back at the others.
"Just a message the Guildmaster asked me to pass on, nothing important" she replied.  "I can take care of that myself.  Why don't you lot have a look around then, I'll meet you back here later."
With that she turned and headed off into the depths of the marketplace...

OOC: Can I use Invisibility here to try to make Swift look like just another harmless citizen of Toran going about her unimportant business? :)

Yes, you can, Swift. That would require you to pay 1 WP and then roll, but since you also have a +4 bonus, and you've already familiarized yourself with Toran, the DC wouldn't be any higher than 4 - meaning, you pay me a WP, and you'll automatically succeed in passing yourself as a Toranese. :)

Did we arrive at the market already? I don't think we should have anyone wander off solo.

Yeah, I already moved you there in post # 920 - I guess that means you'll have to edit your post a bit, Shark. I actually wasn't sure when I read your post and just assumed I hadn't, but now I've double checked and yes, you're already there. :)

-1 WP...  (I really should quit using stuff like this, or I'll be going into the next boss battle with only basic stabby things to rely on...)

Made a roll for Invisibility anyway.  Got a 1.  Kind of glad I did roll that one really, worked one bad roll out of the system so far :)

Dusk Rat, Frost Ferret, I probably didn't make it too clear - I want you two to tell me what you're going for of the 3 options I offered you; I need to know it to decide how to organize this next session.

Frost, I know you couldn't connect yesterday - but this way, in case you didn't knew when you checked in today, now you do. :)

Umm, I'm not too fussed - Dusk Rat will probably just go along with the majority for now. I don't fancy doing anything that costs WP - I'm still recovering from the fight I had what feels like months ago ;).

Re: Thread II: Toran

Looking mildly puzzled but not really engaged with the mutterings of Laughing Shark and Swift Fox, Frost Ferret answered the huntress question. "Well, we just need some rations to travel with and maybe a blanket," he said distractedly. "I don't know about the others."

OOC: If no one else wants potions, FF certainly doesn't, so apart from some food for their journey outside the city, I think he's sorted, unless I'm forgetting something obvious. Do you others have tents or anything as cushy as that?

Options-wise, cheap rations that will last a few days on the road (though won't spend much on them, 'cause I expect hunting is an option too) wouldn't be too hard to find anywhere, I guess? Other than that, FF has no huge plans, just wants Sharky to go and meet her contact a bit later, see if that gives us anything then be ready to set off tomorrow.

Re: Thread II: Toran

Alright, then all things considered, I'll say you and Dusk are both ok with following whomever?

If that's ok, and you can confirm it, then I'd have the two of you staying together and look for a shop as in option 2; Shark has said she's going for option 3 and that's something best do alone, and since Swift, while also having picked option 2, is looking for an herbalist right now, who wouldn't have the kind of supplies you're interested into, I'll say that you and Dusk (as well as Rasha) should look for a supplies shop on your own.

If that's alright for you two, than I'm ready to break you all apart - at least Swift will need a thread for herself, and the sooner I can start it, the sooner you lot can get back toghether, right? Just confirm it to me, and I can push you all forward! ^_^

I don't think there's anything I've any interest in buying, really. I'm more following along because there's not much else to do until we all set off for doing whatever it is we're actually supposed to be doing - tracking down that Vakky-thingy and killing it or whatever you do with them.

Re: Thread II: Toran

So, you've no problem with going along with Frost? That's perfect.

Once the group was in the commercial area, Swift Fox and Frost Ferret discussed quickly what they needed, with the male Kai agreeing on going to look for supplies while the group supposed leader declared her need to check over one of the local herbalist.

Rasha moved along Frost Ferret, and as she moved, she put an hand over Dusk Rat's shoulder, dragging her along as she asked, clearly feeling in a chatty mood now that it'd been cleared she hadn't to go back to the magic quarter:

"So, I was meaning to ask... is it all members of your Order that have this magic touch with animals, or is it something only some of you learn, with you and him just happening to be two of those?"

And she motioned to Frost Ferret, who had found a street where two shop of the kind he was looking for were placed in front of each other - one called "Traveller's Friend" and the other "Journeymen supplies shop" - and was now deciding wich one he wanted to enter.

For your information, Frost, "Travellet's Friend" has several maps, backpacks and various climbing equipment on display, but is otherwise pretty non-descriptive as far as buildings go, whereas "Journeymen supplies shop" has a much more colorful appeareance, with various banners of far away nations as decoration visible from the outside, as well as a display of clothes for any climate, all of whom seems pretty functional.

Feel free to pick wichever one you prefer! ^_^

Meanwhile, Laughing Shark had moved on her own, apparently wanting to look for what the various hawkers and peddlers had to offer...

Re: Thread II: Toran

"Any Kai has the potential to learn how to speak to the minds of other creatures." explains Dusk Rat, a little surprised at being asked to explain something but willing to do so as it's a subject she feels confident with. "But some choose otherwise. I expect we could all learn a great number of ways to wield our powers, but there are so many, I'm uncertain that any one Kai could ever hope to master them all within a lifetime. So we work with those skills we're strongest in, or prefer to use."

If Dusk Rat ever explains some basic Kai thing and it turns out to be wrong (due to lack of player knowledge), let me know so I can change my post ;). I'm pretty sure the above explanation about Kai skills is right, though :).

Yep, it is. :)

Rasha nodded.

"I see. Well, that's pretty amazing. I mean, you had those rats almost eat that guy alive, and Ferret persuaded a full pack of wolves not to eat us... somwthing like that would come in handy in my job."

The bounty huntress scraped the head of her dog, then looked back to Dusk Rat.

"And you, what are you stronger in, aside from talking to animals?"

Dusk Rat raises an eyebrow slightly at this unexpected question. Rasha expects her to share all her strengths just like that? Still...

"Staying out of sight." she answers. "I've no wish for violence. I'd rather gather information, by whichever means I can."

Re: Thread II: Toran

The bounty huntress smiled at that comment.

"Well, I can see that - you're hard to notice on your own already, I can only guess that you'd become a ghost when you use your power for it, isn't it?"

She chuckled, then assumed a more thoughtful expression and said, her tone curious:

"But, you know... even if one doesn't like violence, at times there's not that many other options. And you did say that you fought the giant snake, didn't you? So, you know that too."

She paused, as if trying to put her thought into words, then, glancing to her dog, she seemed struck by inspiration, and continued:

"See, animals solve everything through violence and competition, don't they? Yet, you say that you like animals more than people... on which I agree by the way. I was just wondering how come that you're repulsed by violence, then... after all, trying to find a way with words first is a typically human attitude, isn't it?"

It seemed clear that Rasha was enjoying the chance to discuss such things - it was clear that she had not normally the chance to speak much with other people in a friendly manner, given her line of work.

Re: Thread II: Toran

Getting the "...nearing the 1000 post limit." message on this post, just so you know...

"I tried to speak with the snake first." replies Dusk Rat. "The creature's fear was too great - it attacked and I'd no other choice."

She frowns slightly at Rasha's declaration that other creatures solve everything with violence.

"I'd say it was untrue that other creatures use violence for everything." she says. "Many species will do other things so that they can avoid violence. They may posture or bellow, or growl and bare their teeth. Only when one still refuses to back down is there usually a fight. And then it will usually only last until one is beaten. A human might deliberately kill someone just to prove a point. Some humans plot to kill. Some request or pay others to kill. Some are those who make a living from it. Other species will only kill if they have to. I may dislike violence, but I understand that predators must eat."

She falls silent with a shrug.
