What follow is a list of Kai that might turn up important during the game.

This list include all Kai of level Principalin or above; these are all official candidates to become Lone Wolf's successor, although, as you'll easily notice, some of them are less interested than other to the position.

While I'll be posting these characters description under my "Shadow" moniker, I'll be changing the Character Picture for each of them; this is the picture I'll be eventually using if/when I'll make some actual NPC out of them.

Archmaster Starfire

Age: 32

Mastered Lorecircles: Fire, Solaris, Spirit

Lone Wolf's first disciple. Despite his importance among the ranks of the New Order, he prefers to keep to himself, avoiding the crowds and only rarely being active in the life of the Monastery.

Lone Wolf officially recognized him as his second in command, but the man is not well versed at all in politics and is know to delegate responsibility, especially on the other members of the Starting Five.

Since his mother's family is related to that of King Ulnar by marriage, he grew up in the royal palace, and is particularly close to King Ulnar himself and his nephew and heir; this make him fiercely loyal to the Sommerlund's crown, some say more that it's proper to be for a Magnakai Master. In fact, many Kai - especially members of the second batch - say that he's unfit to lead, and fear that he might end up handing the Order to the Crown if asked.

Despite these complaints, everybody agrees on his combat skills, wich are exceptional; his love for battle his well know, and some say he's only alive, and truly himself, when he's on the battlefield. In fact, one of his favoured pastimes - and the main motive for the rare occasions he's seen outside of his own chambers - is to fight against whole groups of Magnakai; even so, with the exception of Lone Wolf, he's only been bested once since completing the Lorecircle of Fire, and that was by a group of five Magnakai that included his own disciple Golden Sparrow and Lone Wolf's latest star pupil, Sun Fox.

While his combat abilities are universally recognized and respected, there are rumors who say that his mastery of some of the less fight oriented Magnakai Disciplines is barely passable, and that his rank is undeserved - only bestowed on him by Lone Wolf to keep him the highest ranked Kai in the Monastery, and not actually earned.

Scion-Kai Blue Snake

Age: 32

Mastered Lorecircles: Spirit, Light

Despite being one of the Starting Five and among the highest ranking Kai in the New Order, Blue Snake is rather unassuming, looking and acting like an accountant most of the time. He speaks rarely and sparingly, always taking great care that his words are perfectly adequate to the situation at hand; there's people who say he's lost some part of his humanity at some point, so cold and precise he is.

An example of this attitude is his notorious dislike for combat; in fact, only the other members of the Starting Five have ever see him take part in any physical activity, and even them haven't had a spar with him since he become a Magnakai. In fact, since he never leave the Monastery on missions, some people go as far as to say that any combat skill he actually had, he has long forgotten; either way, there's no clear measurement of his effective combat ability.

In addition to this, he's also the one who really runs the Monastery during Lone Wolf's absence; Starfire trust him completely and often defer to him in question of administration, and he's so carefully informed of every coming and going among the members of the New Order that, according to rumors, there's nothing that happens in the Monastery that he doesn't know of. These voices are made even more spooky by the fact that he's the most accomplished mind master in the whole Monastery - according to some, nobody can hide their thoughts from him, and there's no mindshield that he can't break through.

This image is so pervasive that there are even some who would want him to step up and officially become the new head of the order; as with many other things, his own opinion on this, assuming he actually has any, is known only to him.

Scion-Kai Moon Shadow

Age: 22

Mastered Lorecircles: Moon, Spirit, Fire

Hailed as a genius since the very moment she set foot in the Monastery, and the most skilled member of the second batch of recruits for the New Order. She was a disciple of Phantom Steed for a time, until she surpassed him; she was also the first Magnakai to master the new Lorecircle of the Moon, partly because of the tutelage she received from Guildmaster Banedon in these matters.

Cunning and clever, she's started to gain a growing influence in the New Order during the last years, and she's using the void of power created by Lone Wolf's disappearance to gain more prominence among the ranks of the monastery. Many believes she's the best suited to become the one new reigning authority, and she's especially liked by those who do not think Starfire to be fit to lead.

She's particuarly well known for her dislike of the Sommerlund's royal family - perhaps not surprising, considering her Durenese ancestry - and she often said that the Order should have more indipendency from the crown, going as far as to bring the matter to Lone Wolf himself. She publicly declared that Starfire's apathy and willingness to bow to King Ulnar's every request is a sign of his weakness, and the main reason why the Order should not let him take Lone Wolf's place.

Her adversaries in the Order describe her as dangerous and often compare her to a panther, striking from the shadow and always going for the kill; however, her students claim she to be a fair and understanding teacher, and her allies all think that she's not as cruel as she's made up to be.

Sun Knight Black Beaver

Age: 30

Mastered Lorecircles: Fire, Moon

The less often seen and more famous of the starting five, even young novices (who might not be aware of Starfire's place as second-in-command to Lone Wolf, Blue Snake's importance in the administration of the Monastery, Phantom Steed's role in teaching the way of the Kai, or White Mantis willingness to offer counsel) have heard the tales of Black Beaver's legendary skill in the forging of magical items of many different kinds.

Being the first Magnakai to learn the new discpline of Crafstmanship after Lone Wolf developed it, he showed so much promise that the Grand Master even left him study several of the itmes of powers he possess, included the Lorestones, and some say that anything made by him is capable of feats that no product of other smiths can match.

Despite this reputation, he's a grumpy loner, and doesn't like interacting with other people at all; his only interest are the silent items he forge and lives among, and the problems of the Monastery's inner politics do not interest him. He's rarely seen out of his domain - the armoury - and it isn't unheard of for him to forcibly shove people out of it if he's bothered by them, so it's not easy to ask him anything, to the point that people wonders wheter he craft his items only for the fun of it.

He's never take in any student after the Wars, and some people say that spending so much time alone, with only metal and fire keeping him company, is slowly turning him crazy; nobody dares to say as much to him in person, though.

Mentora Phantom Steed

Age: 34

Older member of the New Order Kai outside of Lone Wolf, Phantom Steed is well known among the younger generations because he's the one who trains the Novices in their progression through the ten level of basic Kai training. Despite being the de facto Head Teacher of the monastery, he rarely take any interest into training Magnakai or taking in personal students, claiming that it would take away too much of his time from preparing the youngs; Moon Shadow is the only recorded exception to this self-imposed rule.

Because of this attitude that put them before anything else, he has great influence over the novices and the newer members of the Order , and is greatly respected by them - although somwhat resented by the members of the third batch, who would love to have his tutoring and help to progress in their Magnakai skills.

One of the most interesting facts about him is that, among the higher ranks of the Magnakai, he's the only one who has not mastered any Lorecircle; despite (or perhaps because) of this, he's also universally recognized as the most capable theorist of the Order, and that his levels of mastery of most Magnakai Disciplines is way beyhond what others can accomplish.

The only weakness he seems to have in his knowledge is the great difficulty he appear to have in learning the new disciplines developed by Lone Wolf, instead focusing more on the "traditional" Magnakai skills. Some, though, thinks that he simply doesn't want to learn them; his disapproval of these new skills, and his opinion that their very existence bastardize Kai's teachings, is well know, and he's very vocal about it to anybody willing to listen.

Mentora Shining Peacock

Age: 25

Mastered Lorecircles: Spirit, Light

Without a doubt the most vain Kai Lord ever, he loves soft and elegant things, and even his fighting style is greatly focused on keeping himself and his precious, stylish clothes out of harm's way.

In fact - while nobody actually thinks of him as a more powerful psychic than Blue Snake - he's know for his great talent in the creation of illusions, and those few Magnakai who witnessed one of his rare sparring sessions saids that he turns the battlefield in a maze of smoke and mirrors. While he doesn't usually show-off these skills too much, he likes to brag about them, and in more than one occasion he has taken interest and offered helpful tips to the most promising young psychics among the Magnakai ranks.

He's also a known womanizer - so much so, in fact, that Lone Wolf had to reprimand him on the matter more than once - and he's known to have a soft spot for Kai Ladies in training, going so far as to be unfair in their favour more than once during tests and training exercises.

In addition, he has a personal, quite strange quirk - whenever he learns a new Kai or Magnakai discipline, he dye his hairs a new color, and they keep getting stranger and more unnatural the higher he raise in rank.

Despite these faults, he's actually quite knowledgeable on the finer details of proper conduit, etiquette, interpersonal relationship and social understanding, wich makes him a master diplomate and a consummate politician. Due to this, he occupies a sort of unofficial position as ambassador of the New Order; he's constantly journeying from one foreign nation to the other, keeping up a good reputation for the Kai, upholding their banner and promoting positive relationship, all the while collecting information on the political situation outside of Sommerlund. He's well beloved in most courts, and even where he isn't, his skills are appreciated and, as a result, the respect toward the Kai is greater.

He seems quite interested in taking up the Leadership of the Order, and as many of his supporters point out, he would be the most politically savy choice, and the one most guaranteed to gain consensus among the foreign allies of the Kai.

Principalin White Mantis

Age: 32

Mastered Lorecircles: Light, Solaris

Usually considered the greater healer of the Order, White Mantis is a very soft-spoken person, with a clear penchant for listening and a surprising insight; many Kai often go to her when they need advice or counsel, not just to be patched up after a particularly rough sparring session.

There are rumors of her being Starfire's lover; however, there's no evidence whatsoever that this is true, and the most likely explanation is that the rumor was spread by Starfire's fangirls, scorned by his continuos refusal of their advances and envious of the close relationship among the two - wich is given by their being both part of the Starting Five's group. If she knows of such rumors, White Mantis doesn't comment on them, and her regal conteinance, mixed with the motherly affection she shows to the younger novices, make it such that nobody has the gall to pose her such a disrespectful question.

Being the only Magnakai to have completely learned the Lorecircles of both Solaris and Light, she has unparralled understanding of the world around her, as well as a greatly empowered empathy, and is able to guess correctly on the consequences of actions yet to happen very often; this make her the best person to ask for help whenever a Kai has any personal problem. She's also considered the wisest person in the Monastery, and almost everybody trust her judgment and her discretion.

For all of these reasons, all the factions that are gunning for control over the Monastery have already sought her out, hoping to get her open support; she, however, has yet to take sides.

Principalin Golden Sparrow

Age: 26

Mastered Lorecircles: Fire, Solaris

Older member of the second batch, he's Starfire personal pupil; a master swordman and skilled sharpshooter, he's considered the more balanced fighter in the whole order.

Like his master, he prefer combat to politics, although his talent for strategy makes him more capable to hold his own in a discussion than Starfire would be, and his planning skills are not to be unerestimated.

He's the most determined and loyal supporter of Starfire's right to lead, and has purportedly talked the man into keeping his ground and refusing to back down despite other Magnakai's insitence on the matter. Also, taking after his master in something else, he's very friendly with the crown prince Lenhar, Pelathar's son and King Ulnar's nephew.

Recently, he's taken to always accompany his master, much like a bodyguard would, and given his quick temper, some fear that he might be looking for a praetext to make the inner conflicts in the Kai ranks escalate into full blown combat - the one field where Starfire's victory would be most likely.

Principalin Summer Wasp

Age: 25

Mastered Lorecircles: Solaris

Known as the best scout in the New Order, she is a lover of feasts and a very expansive person; she enjoy being in the middle of a crowd, especially when she's the center of attention. These attention-grabbing tendecies are also a part of her approach to missions; tales of her exploits usually reach the monastery before she can report them back herself, and she caused Lone Wolf more than one headache over the years - as well as to Shining Peacock, who's usually the one in charge to stop her "feats" from degenrating into diplomatic incidents.

She find the whole organization of the New Order, whith its closed ranks and carefully ordered gerarchy, way too limitating and constraining, as well as far too strongly Sommerlund-based, which, in her opinion, reduce the scope and vision of the Order itself. In fact, she's openly suggested the adoption of such revolutionary ideas as the creation of multiple Kai bases outside of Sommerlund, to increase the responsibility of low-ranked Kai, to start actively looking for perspective novices from outside the Lastlands, and more.

Her popularity, especially among the younger generation, means that she has a very strong support base, and many believes that, without Lone Wolf to keep her under control, she'll try to use it to impose her views to the whole New Order. She's not well liked at all by her superiors, though, and given the influence of the Starting Five, it's quite likely she won't have an easy time in pressing forward her claims to the leadership position.

She's known for taking a lot of students among lower-ranked Mangakai, and for constantly pushing them to do their best; despite her friendly demeanor, she's quite demaning in terms of skills, both from herself and from others. She doesn't like the disciplines focused on psychic warfare, though, and it's not unheard of for her to explicitly limit her students' progression in these, pushing them to focus on the more physical side of training instead.

Grand Guardian Red Dawn

Age: 21

Mastered Lorecircles: Spirit

Younger member of the second batch, she's a quiet and silent type, not often seeking company and more likely to be found wandering the Monastery halls than to partecipate to any group activity.

She's the most talented interrogator in the whole Order, and the only missions she's assigned to are ones where there's a requirement to make prisoners talk; so far, she has yet to fail any of such mission, and many Kai are not at ease in her presence because of it.

While very few people know her well enough to have regular discussion with somebody as unfriendly as she his, some who've had the chance to talk to her say that, while usually just polite and not a person who love to speak, she can easily be nasty, and is able to hurt with just a few pointed remark - and, some say, she ejoy it.

Even so, this attitude is only natural in somebody with her talents, and while there have been complaints, several of her superiors - Blue Snake, Moon Shadow and Shining Peacock among them - spoke in her defence, so nobody questions her skills and strange habits anymore.

Tutelary Sun Fox

Age: 19

Mastered Lorecircles: Fire

The higher ranked member of the third batch, and usually reputed the most skilled member of that group, she's a real prodigy; so much so, in fact, that she was noticed by Lone Wolf and made into his personal disciple, wich only made her progress faster. It's know that she has a deep admiration for the Grand Master, and many suspect that she'll be hit most harshly by his death. However, she's a very positive, energetic and hot-blooded person, so there's also many people who believe she'll be taking this tradegy in stride, making her life a monument to Lone Wolf's mission of bringing peace to the world.

She's a scarily competent fighter, certainly the best of her batch and, according to some, even better than most of the higher ranking and older Kai. Her swordsmanship is so good that Lone Wolf even allowed her to train with the Sommerswerd once; a concession unheard of, and wich made many envious of her.

One of the defining traits of her combat style is the ability to effectively mix the Battle Magic and Nexus disciplines to garner a complete control of the battlefield, to the point that many consider her skill in this field genial.

She's an idol and inspiration for many of the younger Kai, and is especially admired by the girls, who see her as a role model.

Sentinel Silver Raven

Age: 22 - Second Batch

Mastered Lorecircles: none

Silent Raven is a silent person, but he also pays great attention to details, and seems to always be follwing what's going on. He also rarely contribute to discussions, except when it's about magic items or legendary artefacts: he studies them, and whenever a mission come up that might involve the chance to recover some precious relic, he always volounteer.

He's known for being one of very, very few in the Monastery who learned Craftsmanship under Moon Shadow's guidance - this seems to indicate that the two of them are close, although that's to be expected between a master and her student.

Silver Raven is not resentful of the third generation, nor does he seems to have any political leaning, outside of his obvious close ties with Moon Shadow - he only cares about magic and artefacts, as well as studying and searching for these things whenever he can. He's usually polite with people but rarely willing to conversate, unless it is about magic stuff, and even then, his reserved nature tends to make these discussions short.

In demeanor and attitude, he's serious and careful; he always take his time to study situations and check for details before acting, usually coming up with the more rational and appropriate solution for any problem.

Because he's very skilled in studying and analyzing situations, and using few clues to come to conclusions, he's usually sent on a very narrow subset of missions - ones were there's need of a very analytical mind to solve a mistery. Moon Shadow seems to trust him with the more critical missions, apparently certain that there's no bundle of facts he can't unravel.

One noticeable bit of trivia about him is that he was part of the famous battle group that bested Starfire; it is known that he's a skilled swordsman - although some say that it's just the magical sword he crafted to make him any good, and that without it, his fighting skills are barely worth mentioning.
