Re: OOC: seventh sense

Wow cool, a roll with a DC of 1, that's nice :). Does this system grant better results the more you beat a DC by, or is a generic "pass/fail" depending on whether you beat it or not? Because, you know, rolling a 10 (or a 9 or whatever the highest roll is) in this case would make for one hell of an epic result :D.

Re: OOC: seventh sense

If you recall, Dusk Rat, there have been times where highest rolls granted better result (your team camouflage for navigating the tower, for example), and other times where it's a yes/no situation... although normally, a yes/no situation is the standard. Don't worry, I will always tell you when an higher roll will mean a better result. :)

Of course, as with many things in Lone Wolf, in battle things are different from the standard - there, a better roll always grants a better result (and 0 is a critical instead of the lower possible result), but that's just the way the combat results table works.

In this case, the roll is to see if you'll get through unnoticed, so I think it's safe to say that in this case, it is a standard instance of a yes/no result... however, if you roll really high, my descriptive post might describe how much  awesome your distraction was to greater lenght. ^_^

That path just described in Team Snake's thread is making me feel dizzy just thinking about trying to cross it...  (O.o)

Also rolled a 6 :)

Re: OOC: seventh sense

I did said it, didn't I, that the shortcut was A LOT more dangerous than the long way around? I hope you all can also see now why the walking order is so important - nobody is going to be able to change it on the thin, rocky bridge covered in melting ice, which of course adds a further layer of difficulty to the already pretty crazy effort. :)

As for the roll, it means that you pass, of course; I should have the next post in your thread up in an hour or so.

It's Sabre's time to shine! And by that I mean get us all 'accidentally' killed and move onwards to victory.

Re: OOC: seventh sense

Of course you are good at spreading trouble - you're a sabotage team, lead by one of the best disciples of the leading sabotage expert of the Order. You're also a very good infiltration force as well. Sun Snake's team, on the other hand, is much more powerful in exploration mission and straight-up combat.

Interesting how these teams were assigned just the right missions for their skillsets, isn't it? :P

As for getting out of there alive... I'm sure you'll find a way! In fact I'm so sure, I'll make it incredibly hard - that way, when you do succeed in the end, it'll be all the more sweeter! ^_^

Am I not a mindful GM? ;)

You mean Blue Snake knew that we'd end up sneaking around in here?
I knew it!  He's up to no good, how would he know otherwise?! ;)  hehe

Fun scene in the tower. I half expect the actor Paul Freeman (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paul_Freeman_%28actor%29) to walk out of the flames with the Xagash and say 'Jones!'

Proving Swift Fox's real name is Henrietta 'Toran' Jones Jr.

And Blue Snake knew that Swift Fox, if she accepted the leadership roll, would still lead by example and do things sneakily, where sneakiness was probably needed.

Noooo!  You've learned Swift's real name?!  She'll have to kill you now!  :o

And I wonder how much Blue Snake knows about our current situation...
Maybe that's why he's not answering the Seeing Stone, he's busy sneaking up behind us all!  (O.o)

Lol, so Golden Sparrow, Shining Peacock and Blue Snake all have seeing stones and are all currently sneaking up on the Maakengorge group? Sounds about right!

Who is that in Blue Snake's avatar image anyway?
Looks kind of familiar, but I can't figure out where I've seen him before.

Indeed, Shark's an anomaly... but I think she fits the Darkland team a lot better than many of you realize. Decidedly better than she would have fit in the Maakengorge team, at any rate. :D

I think if I was in Team Snake's situation, my first question would be if it's possible to backtrack and take the other route...  (O.o)

Lol well, as I'm not following the other thread for metagame reasons, I suppose I don't know how much better Shark fits with our group than the other one. But since we were based in the city fo the first part of our mission, I suppose we were near to more pubs than the other team ;).

Re: OOC: seventh sense

Of course they can - it will take them one hour to backtrack though, which is the same time they would takwe to make it through. If they go back, they'll simply be adding two hours (the ones they spent getting to the gridge and then going back) to the time needed to go through the long route. The choice is theirs! ^.^

Although, of course, that would mean the shortcut defeated them... but it's not like any of them would feel ashamed of losing to a bunch of rocks, right? ;P

As for Shark, I can assure you, she's much more complex than she pretends to be, and she can do a lot more than just drinking any member of the team under the table! :D

Re: OOC: seventh sense

Yeah, the short cut could very well be cut short. Then again, the long route seems to have a lot of lesser rolls for athletics at one point that could probably kill us if bad luck stacked there, so we shall see.

Sun Snake was certainly never a fan of the short cut. As you can see, IC he has no better idea than backtracking.

Well, it was Rain's and Sabre's votes against yours, Sun Snake, so Sabre Fox alone changing his mind would suffice to backtrack - which is just as well, since we know Rain will not be able to post much this week.

Re: OOC: seventh sense

Well unless there are any suggestions to help us with this we may need to backtrack as DC just for Fox is 15, so that's assuming a 9 roll, 3 with Huntmastery and 2 from gear = 14 so it's impossible without further help and even with extremely difficult and the price of failure is jagged death :(

So unless we do have any other help, Fox will say to backtrack too

I think I've stablished by now that a very good description will warrant a +1 to the roll?

And of course, the real goal is to find some way to mix together your abilities to reduce the difficulty a bit... it's meant to encourage you to be creative! :D

Of course, if you want to declare defeat, Sabre Fox, that's fine for me; the decision is yours. I want you to do so in character though - it would be fun to hear Sabre Fox admitting he's found something he can't do. ^_^

Re: OOC: seventh sense

I just checked, and Sun Snake's prescience will only extend to him and can't be passed on to Sabre, etc fast enough to help him :( So unless Sun Snake is to be some form of guinea pig to be very gently guided across somehow by Sun Fox/Sabre, I don't think that helps an initial attempt.

I listed the stuff I thought could help us, but I think a big part of getting through would be Sabre getting through first and then setting up something on the other side for the rest to use and get across. So unless the strength potion could help with the attempt somehow, not sure what else we have right now.

Was there any comment on the feasibility of heating up the path, or is that why the DC is so 'low' compared to the task.

Edit: Weird, no warning of a double post!

Anyway, I'm happy to wait for Rain to see if there's anything with her. Perhaps there's a way for her as a go-between to let Sun Snake warn Sabre Fox of any danger. Sun Snake senses the danger, with his shields lowered Rain Feather's Sixth Sense should pick it up, and she instantly Psi-surges a warning to Sabre. Stuff like that?

Plus perhaps Psi-surge could loosen ice/vibrate loose items from the rocks so hand holds are definitely stable? Stuff like that.
